Great video! I’m not a mechanic and managed to change my clutch following this video, so happy! Was quoted £900 by a garage. I bought a sachs clutch kit from GFS for £155 and £23 on 2L of Comma MVMTF Gear Oil 75W gearbox oil. Common socket sizes - 10mm, 13mm, 16mm, 18mm. Both 3/8th & 1/2” + extension bars & wobbly bits. Torx bits for trim and anti roll bar drop link. Mostly Halfords socket set. I did use an electric impact wrench aswell. Special tools - 17mm Alan/hex key for gearbox drain plug 9mm thin long socket for pressure plate. 36mm for axle nut 8mm long spline bit (tool station set) drive shaft 6mm Alan / hex bit (tool station set) internal drive shaft £10 cheap clutch alignment tool Red grease - rubber grease Black grease - high temp gasket sealant Couldn’t get passanger drive shaft out the hub so had to work around it disconnected from the gearbox. Couldn’t get the gearbox in, gearbox was fowling on the subframe. Had the engine height incorrect. Adjusted the jack and gearbox went straight in. Make sure clutch goes in the correct way round!! Be easy on the clutch for the first hundred miles. Took me 12 hours over 2 days. Would say 8-10 hours if you had no issues. Thanks again for the great video!
I just done a clutch on a a1 and had completely different gearbox to this 1 ,slave cylinder was built in to release bearing and the box was alot bigger than this 1
So at 31:30…. What is been tightened / loosened when he puts the bell housing back on? Amazing vids… have to find the time now to watch them 😂 (helps when work is very quiet!)
Hi,I find coincidentally your channel and i remarque that you work only outdoor on the vehicles. You dont need an warm and cozy Studio for working! Respekt and one subscription from Luxemburg👌👍🖖
When you can replace a clutch with your eyes closed, you know you're on top of your game. But combining it with martial arts, now that's taking it to another level. Can't touch this, man.🥷
A master class again & in real cold weather (even with the night heater) Noticed how you made life hard for yourself on the offside drive shaft as you placed the camera in the best position to suits us and not yourself. Why do you spin the tool up just before in goes onto the nut (?) Never used these neat tools myself that save so much time.
Glad you noticed that. 😆😁.. It does get a bit awkward how I have to position myself so it’s not in the way of the camera .. which part of the video you’re refer to .. spinning power tools. Is it to undo the clutch plate ..?
@@WMCS I believe he's referring to the 3/8" electric ratchet tool. Glad I'm not the only one noticing the finesse you have w/them. If I may - I think you do that so that the socket quickly seats on the nut/bolt rather than moving the tool around to do so.
I remember it clear as day. Was an old school Vauxhall vectra just under 200k miles .. up to about 6 years ago on average most cars was roughly 120-150i miles. Since then in average 60-90k miles or bigger ones and 40k miles on average smaller cars.
Great work! Have you made any customisations via the one key app to any of the modes on your m18 impact wrench? If so, how do you have it set up? Just curious as you use it very well
From what I've seen, I think usually for a standard flywheel, so long as it's still in decent shape he'll reuse it. If it's a dual mall flywheel I've always seen him replace them.

Bravo Kevin ottimo lavoro ottimo video in ogni particolare al prossimo un saluto Gek.
I’m definitely going to book you in. My car has done over 60k
Awesome man👌🏽
Can you tell me what is the exact name of the Milwaukee impact wrench and ratchet?
Awesome video as usual ❤
Kevin what’s the oldest original clutch you’ve taken out of a vehicle and what was the highest mileage car you’ve worked on with the original clutch?

Since then in average 60-90k miles or bigger ones and 40k miles on average smaller cars.
@@WMCS That’s a lot on it’s original clutch. I guess a lot of it is down to driving techniques.
Top job well done mate 👍👍
How much would it cost to replace the clutch? Including labor costs?
Hi, Impressive :) clutch replacement. Need to get me them power tools. Question, what's the black sealant and red grease called?
Ciao kevin ,numero 1 buon anno

Great work! Have you made any customisations via the one key app to any of the modes on your m18 impact wrench? If so, how do you have it set up? Just curious as you use it very well
Yes I do customise it to for different settings. I use 4 for degrees and 123 for nm of various strengths.
@@WMCS Interesting, thank you for your reply, what do you mean by degrees?😅
How do you determine beforhand wether or not the flywheel needs to be replaced? I see sometimes you change it and others you do not.
It's a solid flywheel on that Audi version so just a 3pc clutch kit needed
From what I've seen, I think usually for a standard flywheel, so long as it's still in decent shape he'll reuse it. If it's a dual mall flywheel I've always seen him replace them.
have a good week my friend! 🍺

Did you have to bleed the slave cylinder after replacing the clutch
Do you change on automatic 1.4 on this car?
Only manual gearbox.
Hi bro Amazing ! Whats product to clean clutch as brakes cleaner ? Thx
That’s correct. Brake/clutch cleaner.
09:57 Was that right tie rod off?
From the amount of rust on the thread I’d say it’s been off for well over a year.
@@WMCS No need to mention the broken back up sensor terminal wire.
Am I a fool or did u mean sway bar link. Driving without a tie rod is not really possible the tire would swing left and right.
How long did the clutch replacement take Kevin?
This particular one can be done in about 3 hrs .. not too bad.

Very very great form Italy
The front coil spring being unseated on full droop is a bit concerning! That needs helper springs.
James that is a coil over ..
@@WMCS I know mate, but it shouldn't be loose from the top mount like that. It should be seated against the top mount at all times.
Not on coilovers.
Fantastic lot of work how long did it take mate
Roughly about 3 hrs I think.

aren't those 1.4 tfsi engines known as one the most unreliable engines ever made
Not as far as I’m aware.
I know the very early VW golf ones used to have issues with the plastic chain guides. But that was recalled.
You're probably thinking of the earlier 1.4 TSI twincharger EA111 with the oil consumption issues.
