No you don't have to shoot in LOG. The LUTs have 2 stages (2 LUTs you apply). First is a conversion from LOG to a Standard Look and then the 2nd is the creative look. If you shoot in a standard profile then you can just use the Creative look and skip the first conversion LUT.
I'm more impressed by your acting skills. When u show us what a beginner will do, u do look like a beginner by showing that confused expressiion and unskillful movement. When u show us what a pro will do, u look like a pro by showing skillful movement and confident, getting everything undercontrol expression
You have a natural gift for teaching this stuff! You go straight to the point without a lot of fluff talk and everything you do or say has a reason behind it. Thank you! I’m a super green rookie with a short attention span and my camera is literally still in the box because I feel overwhelmed and way over my head. But, you’re a great teacher. I subscribed! 👍🏾
Wow. I’m such a “beginner”. LOL. This is exactly what I needed to see. I’ve saved this specific video to visit over and over again. I am loving your Pocket 3 content. Thank you so much for sharing. Your examples truly demonstrate the power of the gear in the hands of a “professional”.
I really enjoy your videos. After over 5 decades of still photography, I am trying my hand at video. While many aspects are the same - framing, lighting, etc., the dynamic world of video is a big change and your videos have provided a good steppingstone for me. Great work!
I know you grind out these DJI how-to videos, but I think this was the best one yet, and I especially like San Juan Capistrano as backdrop. Have you done one specific video on nothing more than your Gimbel walk? I'd be up for watching.
The amount of quality and effort you put in this videos is crazy… im not even cameraman or content creator… but this is crisp… i want to buy camera and recording everything… man u are great
How timely. I just received my Pocket 3 from UPS like 15 minutes ago. I used the heck out of my Pocket 2. I was really hoping for a dual lens on the Pocket 3 as that’s always been my biggest issue. The 9 shot rule, so true. A variety of shots, more to work with in post. Z-axis is definitely an issue. I’ve used the ScottyMakesStuff z-axis handle, which helps a bit. Keep in mind that things in the near foreground are much more noticeable and can’t really be stabilized adequately in post. I try to keep the walking shots higher to keep the ground plane elements out of frame. You can also shoot in 60p, walk slow and speed up in post if there are no people or moving elements.
Good advice. Also, if possible don't walk along a wall or fence etc beside you. The more you can walk in the open the better for z axis. Not always possible of course.
Awesome! Well explained and made me realized I am in the beginner category. I was thinking to my self "that is me!" and laughed. Learned a lot and will take on board and think more about the shot and the story.
Since you have both the Pocket 3 and the Insta360 Ace Pro... which do you prefer and which do you think has the better quality outdoor footage in the daytime light? Also, if I purchase your LUTs, can I simply add one of your creative luts to my footage in CapCut? I'm new to adding luts to log footage and just wondered how hard it is.
I’m learning but here’s my question. What’s your advice when it comes to someone backpacking… hiking with a timeframe and etc, how does one get that “great shot or clip”
I’m looking to get this camera for vlogging and I’m coming out of this video with more knowledge about shooting then any other video I ever had. Definitely be checking out more videos
Excellent class! I am a photographer, and whwenever I have tried to do some videos, I end up dissapointed with the results I get. i will implement these tips, to see if I can finally improve on my videos. Thanks!
Cool video, well done ! Why is there no option to trigger dynamic framing and spinshot remotely in the dji mimo app though ? Also it would be nice if spinshot did 360 and not just 180.
Hi, man! Thanks for the really valuable tips! Please, tell me what settings of the camera were chosen? FPS, shatter speed? The picture looks smooth and nice, but I cannot reach this effect with 24 fps, 1/50 while I do panoramic view. Textures make a strobe effect, I've already started thinking to shoot in 30 fps🤔
I knew most of these things, but you did an amazing job hitting the highlights and providing good examples to compare and contrast. Very well done man!
Love your channel.. Love your videos.. I learn more in 10 mins than i ever did taking a photography / video class few years back.. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks
I am getting the pocket 3 and your video has helped me a lot. Could you do a video to share which ND filters to use for different situations? I am overwhelmed by the freewell filters!
You consistently provide a very high value in your videos in a short amount of time. I really appreciate that. As far as educating creators I find your videos the best in this space. I am getting the Osmo Pocket 3 forg Christmas and can’t wait!!
What a wonderful video. Thanks so much. Ordered my OP3 this week in preperation to my upcoming trip in Japan. I have saved and downladed your video to view it again on the plane. Came back from Thailand last March and I am struggling with my editing because of the lack of knowledge this video taught me. Thanks again.
Thanks for this video - all great points. The use of the natural sounds with the music overlayed in the “pro” video also makes a big impact. While just using music can be pleasant, it can also feel detached at times. I am always very appreciative of your work. All the best, Bob
Get my Pocket 3 LUTS for quick color grading: geni.us/BqN1X
Do these work with PowerDirector?
they are a .cube file so check to see if you can import luts into that software
Do i need to shoot in log format in order to use your LUTS across pocket 3, camera etc?
No you don't have to shoot in LOG. The LUTs have 2 stages (2 LUTs you apply). First is a conversion from LOG to a Standard Look and then the 2nd is the creative look. If you shoot in a standard profile then you can just use the Creative look and skip the first conversion LUT.
Let me explain something to you, I didn't click on this video because I wanted to learn something.
I clicked because of your funny thumbnail!

I agree, how is the beginner better looking than the pro?
Yes. 👍 I don’t think he’s acting when he’s doing the pro stuff. He’s just doing his work in a thoughtful manner. Good acting equals not acting 🎭 😮😅😊🎉
@@kyaghleah It's acting without acting, you don't want to see the actor at work, it's hiding the craft but still it's all acting. 🤣🤣
Man, I learned more in 10 minutes, than I have in the past several years. Thank you, you're an awesome educator.
Wow, thanks!
same here. way more than my 3 years diploma
💯
Different shot sizes 1:35
- 2 extreme wide shots
- 2 wide shots
- 2 medium shots
- 2 closeup shots
- 1 unique angle

This is what I've been waiting for what seems like forever -- a beginner vs pro tutorial. Great thinking and tips!
This gave me a whole new perspective. I do all the beginner mistakes . Crazy how you have two complete different feels from three same place
Man I’ve never felt so called out in my life.
I’m such a pro.
Am telling you hahahaha the way he was moving was like he saw me and started mimicking smh
That took some serious work to put together. Very impressive - thank you.

Mate, I’m on minute 3:56 and I’ve learned more than I have in the past 7 years of toying around with cam gadgets! thanks heaps!

Just received mine today from DHL but it’s my Christmas present so I have to wait a few weeks to use it 😭

I got mine yesterday, I love it 😁🥰
One of your best ! Applicable to any camera, anywhere, anytime. Thanks man !!!!
Wow I see the difference. It’s story telling!!! It looks like a movie with the pro footage. I have the pocket 2, but I’ll practice
wow, huge difference between amateur and pro. Thanks! That's inspirational.
Glad you liked it!
Learned at lot from this …….Thanks
That last shot with the tail end of the train was fabulous. Now checking out your beginners guide.
let me sum it up...the pro knows and you can never overshoot, great tips from start to finish!
Jevon, you’re the best! I get so much value from your videos.
Awesome! Well explained and made me realized I am in the beginner category. I was thinking to my self "that is me!" and laughed. Learned a lot and will take on board and think more about the shot and the story.
OMG!! This is so precious!! Thank you for the lesson!!! Big strong hugs!
I think the beginner just wants to be a beginner and have fun with this camera
Great video man!
Thank you for very detailed explanation. I bought it last month and enjoying vlogging with osmo pocket 3
This was super insightful! Thanks for taking the time to do this side by side comparison!
Thank you! These tips are super helpful.
Loved the result comparison
This was so good. -from a beginner

Jeven always my fav learning from you alot Thank you so much
I’m learning but here’s my question. What’s your advice when it comes to someone backpacking… hiking with a timeframe and etc, how does one get that “great shot or clip”
Hi. Do you think after using it, do you pick it up over your phone?
I’m looking to get this camera for vlogging and I’m coming out of this video with more knowledge about shooting then any other video I ever had. Definitely be checking out more videos
Thanks for this video. Which backpack are you using?
Love this video, but honestly, the first beginner video is better than anything I've produced. 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣that was my thought too. :)
Excellent class! I am a photographer, and whwenever I have tried to do some videos, I end up dissapointed with the results I get. i will implement these tips, to see if I can finally improve on my videos. Thanks!
Gold video 🌠
oh this little gadget can really capture some beauty. I love the creativity I'm seeing from all of these new tools.
Mañana me compro el DJI Osmo pocket 3 para poder hacer crecer mi canal en UA-cam y estos consejos son los mejores! entendí todo! grande maestro!
I'm excited to actually recognize this part of the town.
Thanks, Jeven. This was so helpful even when using something like my Fujifilm X-S20 on a mini tripod.
Thank you for the tips! For the ND filters, how do you know which one to use and also, would i need the mega pack?
🎉🎉🎉❤I need to get my pen and notebook 🎉🎉🎉, and have to watch this a few times 😊, thank you for sharing 🙏.
This is the channel to learn how to👍
What topics would you like to see more videos on?
My dad has this camera and absolutely loves it, pretty cool for something so small!
Like the grading and tips

It was a very beautiful image! 🤩
Great tips. Excellently done. Thanks ;)
Such a great video! How do you get your footages so smooth? When I try the ninja walk with my Pocket 3 you can still notice some wobble. Pls help!
great video! thanks!

Love your channel.. Love your videos.. I learn more in 10 mins than i ever did taking a photography / video class few years back.. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks
Thanks for the simple but amazing in result tips. Could you give some pro tips on recording walking tour videos when we have to record continuously?
I am getting the pocket 3 and your video has helped me a lot. Could you do a video to share which ND filters to use for different situations? I am overwhelmed by the freewell filters!
2:25 , de_inferno, legendary counter strike map lol
Wow this guy is so good!
You are an absolute badass! I loved this video and heading to watch the 'Tell a better story' one now :)

Great video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Which EV settings do you use as a pro when using the ND ?
Thank you
Post stabilization helps tremendously, as it did in this video.
another enlightening video of yours!! thanks a lot !!

Would you recommend this camera for filming Walk Videos?
3:27 I don't have a OP3 but resonate with planting your feet. I do this with my phone when I want to do panorama 😅
Damn! I Laughed a lot 😂😂😂
Pretty good video, great examples too and your end result was cinematic 😍
Sir what i buy for making best stable clean videos Samsung Galaxy s23 ultra or pocket 3 ?
Dude literally told me to wait for the train if I want to be a pro videographer.
That colorgrading with the motion blur makes it look like a videogame thats sick
I'm going to film the sunrise at haleakala maui. What filter should I use to get the best footage? If you don't mind sharing your expertise.
Absolutely loved this video, so easy to watch and informative. Just changed from GoPro to DJI Pocket 3 - keen to try these advanced moves ;)
yes i could tell..your best actor 😘
Great lesson!
Thanks for this video - all great points. The use of the natural sounds with the music overlayed in the “pro” video also makes a big impact. While just using music can be pleasant, it can also feel detached at times. I am always very appreciative of your work. All the best, Bob
LOVED this video. amazing visual teaching!
Very good tips. Thank you much!
You are so welcome!
Are you using the Peak Design clip with the Pocket 3?
it's all about the aviators, baby
Great veido, so with slow motion, even tge recording sound become slow ?
