You have to mix with clear to achieve a lighter end result. Shades is 100% healthier for you hair. T18 you use 20 volume developer which is too high of a developer to use on your already lightened hair. Shades will only deposit and make you hair feel and look healthier. I would give it another try but add clear or the 000 - you can also mix the 10p with the 10t to achieve the color you want and add a little bit of clear.
When working with such light hair. It's best to apply this to wet hair at the bowl. That 10p would have been perfect on wet hair about 8 min at the bowl...
I use a fourmula of 10VV, 9 P and either a drop of 9 N or 10T and clear in the Shades EQ on a leaves 9, 10 if possible and fit a icy silver white. Love it
I used 9v+ little 9n and it came out good you are not supposed to use only one unless you use n and want the n end result they all have their own undertones you can mix according to what your hair needs i suggest 10v and some 9p and if you have any clear pr neutral add that if you are looking to get the t18 look i dont you to waste product or ill take them lol just kidding but 9p is a blue/violet base they are awesome to customize once you know what your hair needs for the desired end result
For you hair I would do 9v , 9n with crystal clear . The 9 always pull dark and the ash tones are even darker always add some gold to your formula to get a beautiful neutral shade. Or if you just want to get rid of the yellow use 9v with crystal clear every time I use a straight 9v on my freshly bleached clients it gets too violent... just mixing with crystal clear gives it the perfect color. Vida de Giselle yeah it’s approved by the manufacturer to apply to towel dried hair at the bowl when using as a toner. It helps diffuse the color a bit.
The shades recommendation is for wet hair, but I also wanted to add that it’s so important to mix those toners with their clear shade, otherwise you end up with what you got. So if you used say, the 9v + clear (like a fourth 9v, 3/4 clear, or even half n half) it would neutralize the brassiness instead of turning it purple.

They are dark because she used level 9 toners and mixed 1:1 she should have mixed 2:1 or even diluted them with clear to make them a level 10.
