We have an old 6 cylinder aero engine in the back of our hangar that may be available. I think we’d take a ride on mower in exchange as long as it’s working. The engine is disassembled, and is only the block, crank, cylinders, heads, pistons and valves. No carbs, probably no sump. But it is old (ww2 sort period). It’s in-line so would fit in a car. It’s also very big, both physically, and capacity wise, probably about 10 litres.

Dom, What a project! If you can't find something why not think outside the box and make one. You could make a simple V8, a copy of the Air Disposal Company's Airdisco V8 from 1924. That was 9 litre 120hp air cooled with exposed valve gear. The Shuttleworth collection have a running and flying one of these in their DH51 you could look at. Either way I'll follow your progress with interest, Good luck Sir!

What about speaking to the Shuttleworth people. There must be a number of engines around that will never make airworthy condition again but would be fine for a car.

Give Bill Bonner a call at Bonner Engineering, Shoreham airport. He might be able to help.

I saw a guy selling a Curtis OX-5 V8 going for $10K US in the forums about 6 months ago.. As much as I'd love to build one, it's just not a project I'd ever see myself financially getting to the finish line with. I mean I'd love to have a Mercedes 300SLR replica with the real deal Straight 8, but I didn't buy a stack of bitcoin when it was worth 12cents a po, sadly. I've decided to get an old air cooled Honda XR thumper and doing a dual sport build with it on a CR Motocrosser frame, as it's just a more realistic project for me that I can buy bits piecemeal as I go off facebook marketplace and fleabay..
