  • Have you ever wanted to learn how to use oil paints? This is an easy simple beginner oil painting tutorial. It is the most thorough and simple painting tutorial I have ever done. This is a tutorial for painting very beginners. This is a "painting for dummies" tutorial. But like I say in the video, your painting probably wont turn out the way you like it your first try on this tutorial, PARTICULARLY If you are a very very beginner. And in the likely case that it doesn't turn out like you had hoped TRY AGAIN! Practice is seriously going to get you places with painting. If you have any questions at all about this tutorial, hit me up in the comments below! And I have a lot more tutorials on my channel so check those out if you are looking for more!

This is great! All the little bits are so useful; it's all the things I didn't know I didn't know. I'm also reminded of one of my mom's stories from art class in college, where she was asking her teacher for help about getting her greens to come out the color she wanted, and he said something about artistic vision and seeing things with an artistic eye, and her reaction was basically, "you are a pompous jerk with no idea how to actually teach anyone." Thank you for explaining how to mix the greens -- well, okay, sands, mostly -- to get the colors to come out right. :)

As a beginner in oil painting, i see 1 minute of this video and i click like! Damn everyone has become so whiny, anyone wants to be special and able to do everything following a 10 minutes tutorial. My first paint didn’t come out as i tought it would, but you know what? I like it! And next one will be better, and going on will bring improvements. It’s sad that it’s so rare now to listen someone say that, the tube is filled with oversweetened “characters” that only says “welcome my wonderful friends, today i’m gonna share with you a secret that will make you instantly better, it’s easy, just remember to subscribe, hit the bell button, share and comment the video, it’s important :-))))))”

When you added the shadow under the edge of the water, it turned from a painting, to real life. Beautiful. Looks just like Pensacola Beach, Florida. My sister and I went there on vacation it back in November and it was glorious! We also went to Johnson Beach and I swear that's sand was so white and sparkly it looked like snow and you could barely keep your eyes open it was so bright. It was so beautiful and relaxing we did not want to leave ever.

Never painted oils freehand, as a child did paint by numbers, was ok until my hand or elbow or forearm did some abstract. I had to paint on a table or my lap. It appears that freehand oil painting is forgiving, more so than any others. Thank you for the video, I will be using a lot of the techniques you outlined on my own.

It did not come out as beautiful as your painting but I am happy I tried it. Acrylic colour dried too fast thats why it was challenging to blend it.. I could do it better in water colours as it would was easier blend in it.

I absolutely love your videos and you are so much like Bob Ross. The only thing I wish is that you wouldn't fastfwd sections of the video cause I'm really trying to learn details and you often fwd past them lol. Other than that you're videos are fantastic! You make me feel calm and relaxed and feel like I really can do this. So thank you :)

Thanks for the tutorial. A noob who just started with oil painting. Hoping it helps with the stress im having.
Part i got lost; the water on the sand. Those froth...i had it done over for the 2nd time. Ive seen other technique but this one is pretty close to real. Gonna take a break and let the "sand" dry a bit and try my hands at them froth one more time.
