OCEAN OIL PAINTING TUTORIAL - BEGINNER/ INTERMEDIATE

- Опубліковано 13 бер 2021
- Hi everyone! I've listed the materials you'll need below and some links. However, you don't need the exact materials I use, you can just use whatever you've got at home :) I hope you find this tutorial useful! For any beginners who are wondering, I mix the medium with my oil paint to thin it out and increase the drying time. Here I used Poppy oil but you can feel free to use any medium you want (e.g. refine linseed oil or walnut oil).
Materials List:
-Canvas/ surface to paint on
-Blending brush
www.jacksonsart.com/silver-br... detail brush
-Medium & fine detail brushes
-Phthalo blue oil paint
www.jacksonsart.com/winsor-ne... green oil paint

-Titanium white oil paint
-Lamp black oil paint
-Poppy oil (but use any medium you'd like)

-Pallet knife (but feel free to blend colours with a brush) www.jacksonsart.com/rgm-palet... (I glass from a photo frame but use whatever you have at home)
-Rag/ Paper Towels
-Brush cleaner for after (I use walnut oil but you can use turpentine/ white spirit as long as you're in a well ventilated space)

Quick question, so does it really matter which kind of black or white paint like titanium white and Chinese white, and Mars black and lamp black, or are they just preferred for the specific painting? Thx! 😊😊
THANK YOU😭🥰
Where do you get your container for the walnut oil from?
Terima kasih tutorial melukis bagi pemula bagus banget kak👍🙏
Did you prime your canvas before painting? I want to paint today but haven't primed anything and am now torn between waiting two weeks for it to dry or just trying it without
I usually paint with watercolour but I started with acrylics last year and found them so hard to use! I’m dying to try oil paints but they scare me even more!! 🙈
Did u dip your blending brush in poppy oil before blending or u just used the dry brush?
This is incredible! Thank you so much for the tutorial
So eveytime u want to dip your brush in the paint u dip it in the oil first??
I would like to know the colors that u have used here......

Beautifull!!! But still can't do it... i can't mix the colors😪
Is phthalo blue Same as Prussian blue...bcoz i couldn't find any blue like that in my oil set
Amazing tide. Do you use a ref. image or its in your mind?
Thank you!🥰 sometimes I use a reference but I didn’t use one for this ✨
@@amber_emmi i see, lovely work either way
i don't know how much oil paint to put on the brush when starting on a canvas .??
I tried this and it was not even close but my daughter screamed and said mommmmmm did you order that painting from Amazon?! Lol! She didn’t believe that I painted it! Lol
Do not despair, every failure is the beginning of your art, keep going

I love your style and was wondering, would you consider to start a patreon chanel with longer/full time videos? I would be a patreon for sure!

I tried to do this painting 6 times and it does not look like yours 😂. Yours looks real, mine looks like........ looking at the ocean without glasses on
😅
Can i recreate this with acrylic?
Wondering the same thing
Was thinking the same
You can, however with acrylic paints as they dry faster than oils it can be harder to work with them, they may require multiple layers to get the desired effect or end result
