I approached making this video very thoughtfully and figured it would be better to go into the very basics so that beginners can easily follow along. So I apologize if it feels too detailed for more advanced artists- I didn’t mean to be overly thorough or state the obvious 🤍 I’d love to hear your thoughts after you’ve watched it!
I am very thankful for the amount of attention to detail with this video! Although I know some the basics of color mixing it was a nice refresher. It was good to see and hear the thought process while mixing. Thank you so much for this video! I'm hoping to give oil painting (a try) again.
Thank you for your kind words-I really appreciate it! I’m glad the video served as a nice refresher. Good luck with giving oil painting another try ❤️ I hope it goes wonderfully for you!
The eyes in this oil painting are captured by the artist with extremely delicate brushstrokes, as if they can insight into the inner world of the characters, extremely vivid and breathtaking. The clear layers of pupils, irises, and whites in the eyes not only showcase the three-dimensional sense of the eyes, but also endow them with profound emotional colors.
I'm from Brazil and content like this is a bit scarce, besides the fact that I don't know anything about the English language, your subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese helped me a lot to follow along. Thank you for your work and for providing me with a moment of peace. 💙 (sorry if there are any typos or context errors, I'm using the translator)
You are a wonderful artist. Your video was helpful and as a more advanced artist I didn't feel that it was too obvious. I believe that art is a constant process of learning, experiencing, experimenting, but also refreshing previously acquired knowledge. So thank you very much for this video 😊
Thank you so much for saying that! I’m glad to hear that the video resonated with you as an advanced artist. I completely agree-art is a continuous journey of learning, trying new things, and revisiting what we already know. I appreciate your feedback ♡
im about to try oil painting for thr first time today (I do watercolours and acrylics for years nows) but was overwhelmed how to begin. this helped a lot and calmed my nerves, much thanks! afraid ill end up binging your channel than painting haha
I really enjoyed this video!!!! Your paintings are truly masterpieces!!! I'll definitely try to paint with this demo! For me portait painting is just like magic!!
Oh, that’s lovely to hear, thank you so much!! And I agree, portrait painting is something magical! I hope your attempt at painting this turns out great :)
Daria Thank you so much for sharing! You are beautiful and your painting skills are amazing. You say if we send you our drawings you will correct them. You are a wonderful teacher. Thank you for sharing that valuable skill you have with us for free. I wish your happiness forever from Asia.🌹
I'm so grateful for this tutorial! I've always loved oil painting, but I was too scared or confused to try it. This video cleared up my confusion. I'm going to buy paints and give oil painting a shot. Thanks again!
Useful introduction, thanks. Glad to hear oil is forgiving. I've wanted to try oil painting for a while now but it always seemed like it would only be suited for artists with a high level of talent
Yes, I personally find oil painting easier than getting into watercolor or acrylics. Oils may seem complicated on the surface (like needing to use a medium), but in reality, that’s not a hurdle at all. And in my opinion, they’re very satisfying to work with. So good luck-I hope it works out for you as well!
Thank you so much! It can definitely be a bit intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, there’s so much to love. I’m glad you’re enjoying it now ♡
Absolutely loved this! Recently started learning oil paints and this is a perfect little beginner guide. Going to try recreating that eye now. Would love if you did more videos like this. Nose, ear, mouth ? as things to paint along to.
You are an amazing artist. But, it's impossible to express in words coz u paint so wonderful ❤ I didn't even imagine that much beautifully you paint💞 nd I have a question plz can u answer me ? My question is which brand oil painting are u using plz tell me the name of the oil paint nd I want to start oil painting, so plz give me some tips 🥺
9:09 for that little note at the bottom of the screen, I can see it already it’s forming quite well I’d say in this clip but yes the final product will be much smoother and blended but I can see what is happening and what you are trying for here
I noted that you use Rosemary & Co Brushes for oil painting. Can you show what serie and type of brush are . At your next videos sooner if was possible. Thank you
Thank you for your efforts ❤ i wish you could tell us what brush you are using like number wise 😂 i m that kind of beginner i can't even decide which brush does the job thus i m unable to make those fine lines
my paint feels a bit stiff even though i already tried adding linseed stand oil to it, both are from daler rowney btw, and the shades never seem quiet right whenever i try mixing them. the shadows are always either too brown or too grey and the don't go well with the skin tone, not to mention the skin tone keeps change its like the girl im painting has all types of hyperpigmentation and also a yellow rash, you can only identify her nose by the two thick circles for nostrils in the middle of her face. any tips and instructons will be appreciated. thank you for coming to my rant 😋
Hi Daria! First of all, I wanted to tell you that I really like your work! I wanted to know how to frame canvases because I also use block canvases but not being mounted on a stretcher, I don't want the pictorial layer to move? PS: Sorry for my English...
Hello! I would appreciate if you read this message. I have a question. Is it actually harder to draw such soft, and delicate things with acrylic painting? Or is it the canvas that is important? Should it be really really smooth? Cause mine looks like it made of threads.
That’s a tough question for me because I don’t have much experience with acrylics. However, I assume it's possible to achieve very soft and realistic results with them too, though the technique would be quite different. As for surfaces, I personally prefer smoother ones. When I use canvases, I like to apply a few extra layers of gesso or acrylic primer and sand between each layer to create a smoother texture. This isn't necessary, but I just prefer it that way, and I do find it easier to blend paint on a smoother surface.

Is oil painting like acrylic painting?

@@DariaCallie okay got it. Thanks for replying 👍;)
Which oil paints do you use ?
Only oil for medium?
Is that Jennie’s eye??
It’s unfair that not only are you talented, you are also extremely beautiful. Life is so cruel 🤣 seriously tho. Thanks for all you do.
👌🏼👏👏👏
❤
That's why oil painting is expensive, they're truly realistic arts
Artist wow🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮😢😢
Daria, are these colors all Gamblin?
How long did this little eye portrait take you to do?
I'm not sure exactly because filming definitely slows me down but a couple of hours in total I believe
@@DariaCallie super cool... Makes me wanna try oils 😊
🤩
Process is very nice for beginners but mixing process is hiding partly. When the speaker is on then writing on it is needless.
