Edit: The Byzantine bonus actually is implemented by multiplying by 0.8, rather than 0.75. It should be 0.25 · 0.8 = 0.2.

of course, the most pacifist approach of not letting your opponent make attacking units reigns superior
The Fishing Ship is a very pacifist unit (assuming the Fish don't count as kills)!
@@T-West don't worry, the fishing ships convert the fish to the player's side, so they are no longer enemy units.
@@magentaballthepolandball5130 why didn't I think of this earlier?! Maybe that's the reason why fishing ships can wololo fish traps and thus lure fishes to player's side!
The alliteration through out the video was great.
Good solution though the caveat is that 1 villager is denying 4 fishing chips and ships from collecting.
Well, if it goes through then one villager kills entire fish eco. This is the equivalent of garrisoning your villagers when you're attacked so it's only a delay until you can deal with it.
and don't forget: the 1 villager walked over the whole map to reach the spot to do it's job, but failed and needed to walk back, if not killed before
where as these 4 ships barely have any travel time or like have some fish directly next to them

Palisades around the pond might come cheaper, though.
but be destroyable by a vil and not have a secondary use later. Even cheaper would be a galley to shoot the vill
The Galley often can't be trained in time to stop the Dock, then if it's late isn't useful in the small pond against the Fire Galleys. It's always an "it depends" situation!

Nice dock block.
When playing francesco de almeida #4, I beat the green navy then put galleons near the shore to kill any of their villager trying to build a dock.
You see that in multiplayer too, after winning water players spread their leftover Galleys along the coast to prevent more Docks.
Or can also build 1 tile walls (don't know the name in English), spaced out 👌 I do that whenever I can on Arena to block incoming castles xd but is difficult and you slow down eco a bit
the issue with that is vill idle time and that they can destroy it
but it's doable

Would building palisades on the shoreline not be more effective? Instead of using 4 population space, you would need 1-2 vills to build walls freeing up pop space.
That might be possible too. But the Fishing Ships aren't idle forever, just long enough to get army out to fight the Villager. Then they go right back to fishing.
That is like palisading a douche but it actually works

@T west,i dont mean to be rude or anything,i know u know a lot about the mechanics of aoe and math in general but i think u made a small mistake here in the initial fire galley reload rate calculation.
I think it should be 0.25*0.8=0.2(i know its a very small difference but just pointing it out)
But maybe im wrong and it is infact 0.25*0.75=0.1875
I'll double check.
Edit: yeah, it should be 0.8.
Won't wasted 4 pop spaces and build time be a slight disadvantage though?
Not compared to needing to create his own Fire Galleys or losing all of his Fishing Ships.
If he doesn't he'll have to waste like 7 vills on wood and 4 vills on gold to sustain fire ship production
