One of the best stories I ever heard Dimebag was doing a signing in a music store.A kid and his father walked up to dime and the kid told dime he was the reason he wanted to play guitar.Dime asked him what kind of guitar do you have. The dad replied I’m saving up for a guitar for him times are hard right now.Dime asked them to hang out until the end of the event not to embarrass the man. When everyone left dime told the manager of the store to give the kid the best starter guitar he’s got on me.He told the kid, next time I come around you better be jamming on that thing.Dime was the greatest person to grace the music business and to this day still influencing young guitar players including my son who was only a year old when he was murdered.RIP dime and Vinnie.
Very touching story. I discovered pantera about a year ago and it inspired me to keep on playing the guitar. I miss dimebag even though I never got to meet him and see pantera live since I was born in 2005. He may be gone but his legacy and music will live on.
I had a vhs from 1993 they put out of behind-the-scenes touring etc. They'd be partying & drinking, invite a guy from another band over. He said "sorry I don't drink". Dime said "that's okay man, hang out with us anyway." Every story everyone ever told, he was the nicest guy, and just wanted everyone to have fun, and be happy.
AVOID THE LIGHT is the final *REAL Pantera song* officially released in late 2000. This song along with IMMORTALLY INSANE were songs written during the REINVENTING THE STEEL sessions. I've said it before & Ill say it again, Pantera's final album *Reinventing The Steel* is the greatest album of their career. The band has really matured and focused in on what their strengths are and then catered those songs for the live setting to maximum affect. Dimebag is fully evolved into his dimebag-ness, playing his best riffs, and his guitar solos over Rex bass lines highlight just how tight these guys were. Philip stopped screaming front to back and started to mix in clean singing on most songs while Vinnie held everything together with his precision drumming. Reinventing the Steel is a modern, more mature record. It's groovy like A Vulgar Display Of Power while being heavy like Far Beyond Driven all with great vocal melodies that feel like a pinch of BLACK SABBATH thrown in. Check out the final album RTS. Any songs.. Also check out DOWN.
I always thought that Re-inventing The Steel was their alltime best album as well. Strong songs all the way through. Last song on the album "I'll Cast A Shadow" is fucking phenomenal And I'm with you, Down is fantastic! Saw them in 2008. One of the best shows I've ever been to.
I need to go back to your first video. A daughter mother video showed on my wall of TooL showed up so I watched it. Momma kinda reminded me of my Momma ❤️. Had to see what was up.
One of the bands who SCULPED the history of metal forever. No matter how old, how many years pass by....PANTERA will always be an icon of Metal. Hails to Pantera. One of a kind.
This song & immortally Insane were both from the Reinventing The Steel sessions. Both songs were put on soundtracks because they didnt fit in with RTS material
I remember at an Ozzfest in the UK and Slayer were on just before Pantera. Everyone was so fired up moshing to Slayer and eager for Pantera...the energy was so intense. I could see Phil Anselmo in the wings of the stage watching the entire gig and seeing him keel over laughing and clapping his hands when the entire sixty something thousand crowd all screamed out loud along with Tom Araya at the beginning of Angel of Death. Also, later that night when Black Sabbath were on watching Dimebag Darrell jumping around going bananas on his own on the empty 2nd stage playing air guitar along to War Pigs. Fucking hilarious and a sight to behold and remember.
This is my favourite Pantera song, I'm glad people are hearing it. There's a small list of rarer songs here that are more difficult to hear covered on other channels: Immortally Insane (Best of) I can't hide (Live 101) Where you come from (Live 101) Piss (Vulgar Display - cut - contains a rift later used on Use My Third Arm from Far Beyond Driven) The Will to Survive (Cowboys - cut - contains a rift later used on This Love from Vulgar Display) Caged in Rage (Supercop Soundtrack - Technically not a Pantera song, only features Dimebag, apparently not even Vinnie). Whiskey Road - Another Dimebag cut, country. Dime's Blackout Society - I've only listed this as it's often mistaken for a Dimebag original, but it's a cover of Black Label's Like A Bird with rearranged lyrics. Then there's their origins from the glam/hair metal period as teenagers, four albums all with great guitar playing, you'll only enjoys these songs if you like the genres they were inspired by, or like weird atmosphere, they're quite trippy, here are some of my favourites, especially the ones marked*: Biggest part of me (Metal magic) Taking My Life (Projects) In Over My Head (Projects) Killers (Projects) Come on Eyes (I am the night)* I am the night - the song Forever tonight - (I am the night)* We'll Meet Again - (Power metal)* Power Metal - The song Over and out - (Power Metal)* Down Bellow - (IATN and PM) Hard Ride - (Power Metal) P*S*T*88 - (Power Metal)*
Of all the musicians that have passed away. I miss Vinnie the most. I met him at a Pantera concert. He was such a genuinely down to earth humble guys I have ever met. Rest in Peace
He could be a dick BIG TIME though if you pissed him off. Dime was a dude that seemed like he never had a bad day in his life. I ran into him like the day after he had told Phil they were moving on without him. All I remember saying is "Whaaa?!? No more Pantera!?!!" and had this feeling like someone had died come over me. He said "No worries cat daddy. The show must go on. Phil picks himself back up we'll fire it back up." Like it was no big deal that one of the best rock bands in history was on indefinite hiatus. Dime wasn't really mad at Phil. He knew he was just fucked up and needed to fix himself. Vinnie on the other hand was pissed the fuck off. He was like " Fuck Phil!' Lol. And AFTER Dime passed......don't even mention Phils name.
I saw Pantera more times than I can count but I have a general story about Pantera. At some point Dimebag gave an interview and in this interview he said that he would buy anybody who asked a six pack of beer. Dime being the type of guy he was stood by his word. So for about a U.S. tour he bought anybody who asked a sixer. Well it got real expensive cause word got out. So eventually he had to put out a statement saying sorry i cant afford to continue buying six packs but please come and say hello.
A good soundtrack. This track came on during the ending credits. I remember going to the theater to watch it and waited the whole movie for the song to come on.
Most reaction channels are dull and kinda stupid but you truly love these songs and you hear things and truly appreciate the music fans do, you see, like real cool dude to hang with man.
I have a tattoo on my right arm, under my Type O Negative tattoos, that says "25 Years." My father and I haven't ever been close, and I got that tattoo after realizing how I lyrically connect with the song. It's an emotional disaster, and a reminder of how alone I was growing up, and how that no longer defines me. Definitely my most favorite piece of personal art.
Great choice! This is one of my favourite Pantera songs - so underrated. I also think a lot of people forget about this song, because it was never released on a Pantera album (Dracula 2000 ST exclusive).
Amazing song! Only ever saw them live once back in '96 or '97. Most intense show I ever been too, came away with 3 broken ribs & loved it! Gutted I never got to meet em but everyone says Dime was one of the nicest people in the business on top of being one of the greatest guitar players ever. Absolutely broke me when I found out what happened, not afraid to admit I cried like a baby for a few hours. Keep the Pantera Stories coming, RIP Dime & Vinnie. Black Tooth Grin time 🥃🔥🌿💨💨💨🤘
Not sure if anybody else noted this but here's a little fun fact about this tune... The voice you hear at 2:35 and then again at the end of the song, if you play it backwards, that is Phil saying "Satan's wrath is the only choice. His stillborn army is impeccable"
A friend of mine was asking about mellow but badass pantera songs recently. I suggested him the sleep, and this song. In the process of looking for it here for a link. I find this video. And I felt like I rediscovered this song all over again. With your reaction I'm a sophomore in high school, falling in love with pantera for the first time again. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, brother. 🤘
Cover my favorite Pantera song, UPLIFT. I would destroy with that song. I'm 53, and one of the many Pantera concerts that was bad ass, was in Boston, vulgar display of power tour. I took 2 friends, to see Pantera in Downtown Boston at the Orpheum Theatre. I drove that night in my 1990 Volkswagen Corrado. My favorite car I ever owned. Had a supercharger and 5 speed. Best clutch I ever had. When we got there we smoked 2 joints, drank a few beers and we were all ready for Pantera. Had my steel toe doc Martin's on. That concert was insane. Many rows of bolted down chairs were torn away. Pantera was throwing cups of beer in the crowd. It was an intense show, like no other band. Domination was a crowd favorite, but since VDOP was the new album, walk was something that caused a craziness like domination. After the show, I bumped into Dimebag and Vinnie Paul, who autographed stuff. Darrell did say did you hear the 7 mistakes I made. I did hear a couple but was baked from the weed, that it didn't matter. I ended up finding my friends by my car, they ended up going to a bar. Going back I drove in a snowstorm and made it back home listening to Pantera on cassette tape. Fun times bruddah.
I love your thought process of listening to this song instead of the same old most popular songs that everyone suggests. Every asshole suggests the same songs all the time that are on the radio and you said "fuck that I'll listen to the other stuff" Total fuckin' Respect!

I never got to see Pantera, I got into metal too late by a year or two. I got to see Damageplan and Dime about a month and a half before he got killed. I'm glad I did. They played Walk that night and I got hit so hard I didn't know how I ended up on the floor. I would kill to take a time machine and go back to experience them.
ok. My understanding( from interviews, etc )is that Pantera did not go into the studio with the goal of "lets make a song about vampires". They were commissioned to make a song for the movie (mentioned) and this is the product. OK. A heavy metal band singing about vampires...I think they did a GREAT job. Phils deep, masculine, seductive vocals combined with Dimes rhythmic guitar shrieks.....wow...I think they did a GREAT job.....
Have you heard Pantera's cover of Hole in The Sky or Electric Funeral, both Black Sabbath tracks. This track Avoid The Light was written for the movie soundtrack Dracula 2000
This song is the perfect vampire song. Anselmo is just awesome and pantera ruled so damn much. Another killer unique song they did i recommend is immortally insane
F****** amen finally somebody pulls an amazing song out of the hat. I remember listening to this when I was a kid back in 2000 they made it for their Dracula 2000 album check it out man there's a lot of music on there that nobody even knows about
I was at Ozzfest 2000 in Dallas, Tx at the Coca Cola starplex. The temperature was about 116. First time I ever heard of the all girl heavy metal band Kittie
It’s awesome to see someone jamming this shit for the first time and getting energized by the music the way many of us once were. I can’t really listen to Pantera without this primal instinct to want to mosh come over me.
Justo Pantera song.... Suicide Note part 1 and part 2!! On the album they are separarte but an edited version is available where its played back to back
PT 1 and 2 are in THAT order back to back on the album. And yes they're credited as separate tracks but they 1 transitions directly into 2 with no break.
I don't think you've reacted to any Down yet have you? That if Phil's more Southern Rock/Blues metal band. Less screaming, more singing. Good stuff to check out. Stone The Crow and Bury Me in Smoke is a good starting point.
For those craving just a bit more Dimebag. He was playing with Anthrax here & there too. "We've Come For You All" has tracks featuring Dimebag as do the albums "Volume 8: The Threat is Real," & "Stomp 442." All great stuff.
I first heard this song shortly after the soundtrack came out. My brothers and I cobbled a bunch of old ass stereo equipment including 2 12” subs...so the first time around when Vinnie Paul kicked that double bass we stood there mouths wide fucking opening drooling...we had to rewind that piece several times.
I just saw you for the first time with Im broken, and thought to myself...”let me see if anyone’s reacted to Avoid The Light. It’s rare and one of my favorites” and boom...you’re the first to pop up. Great reaction! I wish I could give you a million likes for spreading the good shit to many who wouldn’t have heard it otherwise 🍻
Make space my ass. They were just trying to tear shit up. Glad you used my story. You would also find people throwing anything flammable to start fires in the pits. Man I miss those concerts.
Late to this video, but this was the first song I heard of theirs after listening to Cowboys. Such a heavy heavy track. Never got to see them live, but I did see Damage Plan 2 weeks before Dimebag’s untimely death, and caught one of his guitar picks.
This track was on the Dracula 2000 soundtrack back in the day. It is a non stop brutal assault. This track and Immortally Insane (from the Heavy Metal 2000 soundtrack) are unsung gems that aren't as well known since they weren't on actual albums of theirs. Good shit, check out Immortally Insane if you want man, it's another great one that's not well known.

He also hooked up another kid with a dimebag from hell cry-baby
I don't think there's a Pantera song out there that doesn't make me want to rip up a bolted down chair. HAIL KINGS!

They were on top of their game on this final album. I bought it the day it came out. It is still my favorite CD.
Immortally insane is way up there. What a riff. Badass

And I'm with you, Down is fantastic! Saw them in 2008. One of the best shows I've ever been to.
The Terry Date mix, is even more of a treat, after having owned the regular mix since 2000.

What I’d give...
Pantera - Immortally Insane
Heavy Metal 2000 soundtrack!!
Just imagine if we got more Pantera....this is where they were going.
"5 Minutes Alone" is my favorite song from Pantera...but "Avoid the Light" is a MASTERPIECE!!! 😃🎸🎶
Darrell wrote the most creative guitar riffs ever in heavy metal.
This is my favourite Pantera song, I'm glad people are hearing it. There's a small list of rarer songs here that are more difficult to hear covered on other channels:
Immortally Insane (Best of)
I can't hide (Live 101)
Where you come from (Live 101)
Piss (Vulgar Display - cut - contains a rift later used on Use My Third Arm from Far Beyond Driven)
The Will to Survive (Cowboys - cut - contains a rift later used on This Love from Vulgar Display)
Caged in Rage (Supercop Soundtrack - Technically not a Pantera song, only features Dimebag, apparently not even Vinnie).
Whiskey Road - Another Dimebag cut, country.
Dime's Blackout Society - I've only listed this as it's often mistaken for a Dimebag original, but it's a cover of Black Label's Like A Bird with rearranged lyrics.
Then there's their origins from the glam/hair metal period as teenagers, four albums all with great guitar playing, you'll only enjoys these songs if you like the genres they were inspired by, or like weird atmosphere, they're quite trippy, here are some of my favourites, especially the ones marked*:
Biggest part of me (Metal magic)
Taking My Life (Projects)
In Over My Head (Projects)
Killers (Projects)
Come on Eyes (I am the night)*
I am the night - the song
Forever tonight - (I am the night)*
We'll Meet Again - (Power metal)*
Power Metal - The song
Over and out - (Power Metal)*
Down Bellow - (IATN and PM)
Hard Ride - (Power Metal)
P*S*T*88 - (Power Metal)*
I can't hide (Live 101) and Where you come from (Live 101) are two of my favourites
Pantera - The Underground in America / Sandblasted Skin
Hollow studio version or Shedding Skin is perfect
You are right, this song is probably their best one ever. And it is a shame that most fans don't even know this song exist.
Of all the musicians that have passed away. I miss Vinnie the most. I met him at a Pantera concert. He was such a genuinely down to earth humble guys I have ever met. Rest in Peace

"War nerve" is one I'll suggest. Great reaction.
I'm a huge Pantera fan and I've been listening to this one a lot lately. Love when the verse comes in with that bass and drums.

An drag the waters same album🤟🏻🤟🏻👍👍
Listen to Phil and Opal's band Southern Isolation album it was a husband and wife effort that was amazing
T, A GREAT PANTERA SONG IS CALLED DOMINATION, ROCK ON, PEACE TO THE WORLD, COUSIN FIGEL
Fantastic
Awesome video! Discovered this song last week and I've been listening to it maaaaany times!🤘
Subbed for Pantera. Keep up the great work.
yes! finally someone does my favorite Pantera song! excellent!! you should try another Pantera song called the will to survive
great song keep up the gr8 work bro
Dude. You are our conduit to Pantera reactions. We already know and love every song we are requesting. We just want to see what others think.
Great song
Greetings from Ecuador bro excelent show
I also. Say this is their greatest song
I don't think you've reacted to any Down yet have you? That if Phil's more Southern Rock/Blues metal band. Less screaming, more singing. Good stuff to check out. Stone The Crow and Bury Me in Smoke is a good starting point.
bigyodatheman yes bury me in smoke is 🔥
I like Eyes of the South.
Yes..Yes and Yes.. Down is awesome and definitely worth checking out
What group is " Down"?
@@youcrytoomuchtyrone1304 ua-cam.com/video/LTDWAMUcNDc/v-deo.html lead singer from Pantera
Good stuff
Damn dude you came in with a song I've never heard before. And that's coming from a O.G. CFH fan. Thanks!
Good reaction to a good track bro keep it up
For those craving just a bit more Dimebag. He was playing with Anthrax here & there too.
"We've Come For You All" has tracks featuring Dimebag as do the albums "Volume 8: The Threat is Real," & "Stomp 442."
All great stuff.
As a huge pantera fan I have to admit I'm embarrassed that I've never heard this one😭😭
I love this track. It’s soo good
Always loved this song! I believe it was written for a vampire movie…..
reminds me of Surrounded By Fright by Nile in that nobody ever seems to talk about it despite it being one of their best and grooviest songs.
This song was on the soundtrack for Dracula 2000
I first heard this song shortly after the soundtrack came out. My brothers and I cobbled a bunch of old ass stereo equipment including 2 12” subs...so the first time around when Vinnie Paul kicked that double bass we stood there mouths wide fucking opening drooling...we had to rewind that piece several times.
One of the power songs i play if mood is fading as while im drinking. If this doesn´t lift up your mood to the roof nothing is.
'Immortally Insane' (from Heavy Metal 2000 soundtrack) is also a really great not well known Pantera song.
This song is fire 🔥
Avoid the Light is from the Dracula 2000 soundtrack. Pantera had some insane movie tracks, but nothing compares to The Badge from the Crow soundtrack.
Pantera - power metal!
Props to reacting to a lesser known Pantera song. Check out "Where You Come From", a studio track from Pantera's Official Live: 101 Proof live album.
Definitely!
Hey, brother I was at Pantera 2001 in Winnipeg
Try yesterday don't mean shit to me live at ozzfeast 99 amazing performance
Make space my ass. They were just trying to tear shit up. Glad you used my story. You would also find people throwing anything flammable to start fires in the pits. Man I miss those concerts.
Conquering Dystopia! Do it! Just Do It! 🤘🔥🤘
T you gotta dive in to rejuvenating the steel ...13 steps is an amazing song🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
Yea, I think I will. This track was soo fuckn good
@@TheAdventuresofTNT it is bro. Great reaction as always.. 👏🔥💯👍
Late to this video, but this was the first song I heard of theirs after listening to Cowboys. Such a heavy heavy track. Never got to see them live, but I did see Damage Plan 2 weeks before Dimebag’s untimely death, and caught one of his guitar picks.
i met rex once in downtown austin
This track was on the Dracula 2000 soundtrack back in the day. It is a non stop brutal assault. This track and Immortally Insane (from the Heavy Metal 2000 soundtrack) are unsung gems that aren't as well known since they weren't on actual albums of theirs. Good shit, check out Immortally Insane if you want man, it's another great one that's not well known.
