Hello everyone! Just wanted to remind ya'll that while Sorin is a vampire, he's a planeswalker and not a legendary vampire creature. Planeswalkers get featured in the "Who Is..." series, so I deliberately leave them off of these L.O.R.E. rankings. Also, changelings and shapeshifters don't count either. Thanks for watching, and if you're one of my American friends, make sure you VOTE. We'll see ya!
@@josephbartholomew I imagine its cause Planeswalkers would dominate basically any category they were part of. They would score 9 or 10 in every category.
The only argument I have is that Edgar should have a higher score, based on him being the first vampire on a plane filled with vampires. Also being grandpa to Sorin, who's been a major player in the storyline for a long time now. But either way, a good list and fun to watch. Quick question though, can I get my copy of Baron Sengir altered to put the golden mustache on him?
One could even make the argument that everything Sorin has done, is thanks to/because of Edgar. If it wasn't for Edgar discovering Innistradian vampirism, Sorin, although he probably would have become a planeswalker anyways, would not be a millennia-old incredibly powerful vampire planeswalker.
@@MegaGullas there's definitely truth in that, although Sorin is his own character. But unlike many other characters from commander products, Edgar's ties to sorin tell us a lot about who he is. And being the first vampire on innistraad i would figure warrants higher than a 5 otherworldly score, you know? Also i agree with Ryan that Edgar's probably still alive
I only recently realized that the Haunt of Hightower was actually legendary. Kazarov is unique in that the creature doesn't have to die to give Kazarov a counter :p
That's true! And I didn't even realize it until I was doing animations and added his card to the screen and read it again (for the hundredth time) but by then it was too late to correct what I had said so I hoped nobody would notice, hahaha oh well!
No honorable mention for Sorin Markov? I mean he is a vampire, despite creature types. Just looking at the C17 art for Blood Tribute made me immediately think its a Sorin + Olivia wedding when I heard the wedding announcement, and if that is part of the wedding Edgar is right there too.
@@pvtpain66k Where does it say that? Also, the three have been wearing the exact same clothes for 2000+ years... Sorin already has long flowing white hair as a human... and the card effect doesn't imply anything about turning a creature into a Vampire, how strangely distasteful?
I agree, even though his "main race" is a planeswalker he should at least be given a honorable mention since he IS a vampire, I though the first place would be his.
@@M1nst3l I agree except that Sengir would still take the top spot over Sorin. He's one of the most interesting, oldest (in real time, not lore) and powerful villains in the magic storyline. Sorin would still get #2, of course, but I dont think he beats out sengir
Yahenni was one of my favorite characters from that story and always gave me Mewtwo "I see now that the circumstances of one's birth is irrelevent, it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are." vibes

Hey Ryan! really like these L.O.R.E. rankings you make! I have a colection of all dragons in mtg. If you ever make L.O.R.E. ranking of the legendary dragons I would appreciate and be really excited!
Been waiting for this! Story time of my own, My first try at standard/fnm play was in the 1st zendikar block. I pulled almost all the vampires and decided to make mini black vamp tribal. Long story short, I lost badly to elf/pawnsire of ulamog ramp. After that edh came out and I tried to make mono black vamp tribal with Anawon as the commander! Love the vampire and the lore they have from plane to plane. Edit as I forgot to mention. My current commander is the new anawon.
The top 5 was really on point, I maybe would’ve put Yehenni higher because they are such a good and interesting character. Baron Sengir is undoubtedly iconic in the magic universe and deserves the top stop no doubt. That said Olivia is my favorite vampire out of all of magic and i’m dying to see her pick up that elder vampire, ruler of bloodlines, white extra color in a new card, rivaling Sorin and Edgar! Also bonus points for Rayami being the ONLY green vampire in the entire game. There’s a lot of non-legendary vampires that are also very cool, Falkenrath Aristocrat and Nirkana Revenanth are one of my favorites.

I've always wondered where exactly Kalitas falls in the storyline because, in the original Zendikar novel, Sorin kept referring to Anowon as "Ghet," like it was a slur or insult and I don't know whether it was specifically because of Kalitas or just because it was a weaker house in general.
Actually Licia (the Roman style vampire at 18) is mentioned in the story article for Prava of the Steel Legion from commander legends, apparently they are rivals within the steel legion and Prava prioritises keeping her soldiers alive while Licia focuses solely on victory. Maybe there will be a plane for these two? Or it could just be another obscure reference from commander legends

Everything any vampire has done in the history of Innistrad, as well as anything Sorin has ever done out in the multiverse, all comes back to him.
My guess is that Edgar was slumbering for a very long time, a d that he was awaken after Nahiri destroyed the Markov Manor and then found Sorin stuck in a wall. Before he could release him, he had to regain his power as after decades of slumber and being starved of blood, he is extremely weak. Aftef Emrakul and hef horrors were finally defeated, he was able to feed and regain his power, and release Sorin under the terms he marries to a leader of another house, since the house Markov is left with only two members, and it's manor is in floating rubbles.
