I can't wait to see more of Garruk. When I first got into magic he was THE green planeswalker representative in the same way Lilliana is THE black planeswalker representative or Chandra is THE red planeswalker representative. I feel like after he got cursed he got sort of put in the background for a while, with Nissa kind of taking his place. I don't mind Nissa, but I never really loved her character and I always missed the way Garruk felt like a force of nature as much as a man, a great representation of what green Mana is all about.
Plus I feel there's a lot of story potential to be had with him. What's his origin? Why is he so focused on hunting? Was he always like that? How old is he? For that matter was he around pre-mending? Etc. Anyway, now that he's cured I really hope we get more of the character, though given wizard's recent storytelling trackrecord, maybe I should hope for more story later once they've sorted their stuff out.
There were some comics that went into his background but idk how canon these are anymore
garruk got sidelined because of bs controversy really which is why nissa had her background completely rewritten since she was supposed to end up golgari originally
See, I agree. I rally liked Garruk, and I also liked Nissa as they both cared about something integral to the color green; big creatures and lands respectively. But now I feel like Vivien and Garruk are both jockeying for the same design space with their core concepts being "beast mages". I like how early Vivens care a little about flash and cards that weren't in your hand I think it would be cool If Vivien was displayed more as that sort of ambush hunter while Garruk was displayed as a tracker. I guess what I mean is make a Vivien whos abilities can only be used on an opponents turn, and give the role of huntmaster back to Garruk
His origin? A farm boy whose dad got in trouble with the law.
Why is is so focused on hunting? Because he’s an idiot that believes in a misconception about survival of the fittest.
Was he always like that? Yeah, pretty much.
How Old is he? Probably 40’s-50’s.
Was He around pre-mending? No.
When i was like 8 years old, I thought that Garruk is the most badass character in all of MTG and I didn't believe my older brother told me that there are a lot of planeswalkers that are more powerful.

Garruk is an anrcho-primitivist edgelord that constantly bemoans “civilization” despite enjoy the fruits of civilized life such as clothes, and metalworking. All he wants to to is hunt and eat, he’s basically just a really buff, angsts poacher that only edgy alienated young men relate to.
It’s really a tragic story of my second favorite planeswalker

I always imagine when Garruk defeats his foes, he frolics about the forest dancing and singing with all his friends. Like laying in a sunny valley with cute animals as "I Don't Want to Know" by Fleetwood Mac plays.

Wicked Wolf is an MVP! That card won me every match during Eldraine drafting at my last job. Basically I'd use it and "Run Away Together" to repeatedly ruin my opponents field.

Awesome episode! Beefy boy is hungry! I loved it. The games went good. Awesome way to end the season. I love your stories, but this is a good way of telling the stories as well and I hope you do more of these as well. I've been thinking for a long time of making a Geralt of Rivia deck and I never really thought of Garruk much, but the way you built this deck inspires me to use Garruk as Geralt. Thank you. Also, alot of people don't know how in depth you get into your research, I didn't (I assumed), but didn't really know. That was ALOT of cards to research through for this deck. Thank you for all of the time and effort you go through too provide us with these great episodes. You are truly a Lore Mage!

In a live action adaptation the recurring joke should be how the camera goes to one person, cuts away, and cuts back to reveal Thor/Garruk standing behind them having moved in unnoticed and spooking them.
That would be pretty hilarious. I imagine there would be a scene where the scene is setup for him to do that to lazav, but then it's just lazav behind Garruk and he doesn't know what the hell

Unironically I think attacking with the 0/2 goose was the right play that second game lol. They were most likely going to tap it down anyway and that way they dont draw a card

Garruk was the first Planeswalker I ever owned. I got the one from the Planeswalker deck in Core 2021 because I haven’t been playing Magic for very long. After obtaining a lot of different cards, I think he’s still an excellent Planeswalker in general.
So cool! I have more respect for Garruk now because of your deck. That looked really fun! Kinda sad that Flavor Win is over for now but hey, Zendikar is right around the corner and Nahiri is such a queeeeeeeeen

Honestly, the lore from MTG is so great, I even use a few ideas on tabletop RPG like Tormenta. With the amount of series being made by Netflix and Amazon Prime, I feel that a mtg series should be AMAZINGLY welcome.

I really this concept of the flavor win. I like a flavor deck, so the lore on a character with a flavor deck is awesome
that blue deck was kick ass
Garruk has always been that one Planeswalker that I always loved. A Primal Magic User who focuses on Monstrous Beasts and the Hunt, making for some fun Mono-Green Stompy Decks, but his Eldraine card made me love him even more. Unlike his previous iterations, Cursed Huntsman focuses less so on Stompy Beasts and more so on Stompy Beasts fighting, making for a fun Midrange Value playstyle in Standard, Historic, and Brawl on Arena, as well as in Oathbreaker. As for the timeline plothole, the only piece we know is that Eldraine takes place before the events of Battlebond, as Will and Rowan only became Planeswalkers themselves at the end of Eldraine. Maybe if and when we get Battlebond 2, we might see Garruk make a return there, though I can't see him taking part in gladiatorial games where he can't exactly hunt his prey. Would still be interesting to see.

Wizard, druid, return of the wild speaker is one of my fav combos to pull lmao adding ashanya and scute swarm helps aswell
I put together a list a couple weeks back and I fully support this casting. I always saw people suggesting The Rock, but he doesn’t do movies as a support role and a studio making an MTG live action movie would never be able to afford him.

I like the idea with this one where you took some more liberties in deckbuilding. Most of the showcase cards are limited chaff, as long as we're still on theme I think you can go wild on your lists!

Boneless Spook but that’d mean wizards couldn’t shove vivien in front of us. I like her don’t get me wrong but there is zero fucking reason as to why it shouldn’t have been Garruk on Ikoria.
We have seen Garruk's homeplane in his showcase forest in core set 2021 and it doesn't look like an Ikorian forest.

I really like what you guys are doing with the flavor win Ideas but I feel like you are rushing through the characters story itself and I personally would enjoy the characters background and the flavor win as separate videos. So as to allow more in depth explanations and also more opportunity for you to raise questions you'd like us to consider and discuss as a growing community. I really love your channel and am excited for next video 😁

Flavor Win has gotten me interested in Magic Arena, but the only problem is I don't care about 60 card. I only really enjoy Commander and Brawl just doesn't do the same for me, although I enjoyed watching the Brawl Flavor Win more. If MTG:A added Commander I'd consider playing it again, but at that point the only thing against it is I'd have to get a lot of cards again and I don't want to spend money on non-paper Magic.
I love and prefer the normal Magic lore you do, but I'm definitely coming back for more Flavor Wins in the future when you do season 2. It was really enjoyable to watch and the tidbits of lore at the start are a great hook for me.
Ryan Gomez Is a legendary planeswalker also known as "The mustache menace". His main arcane power causes his rivals to have tedious inconveniences. For example, he can make his opponents have to go to the bathroom every 2 minutes or force them to read the entirety of the Apple iTunes agreement before casting a spell.
Luckily I only use this power for good.

So prior to watching this garruk to me was the guy who chased lilianna to innastrad where she either turned him into a werewolf or got him cursed by the veil then he goes on a rampage killing other walkers and meets Oko who reminds me alot of johnney young bosch and they banter and oko mind controls him a garruk while still a passanger in his body because of the veil is content with traveling with oko to eldraine and thats all i know he could be celtic or nordic in origin for all i know

I can imagine a blue/black Commander card enchantment called "Dragon's Guile" in which you gain Hexproof from target opponent until it leaves play or you damage the targeted opponent. Flavor Text: Better to send a hunter after different prey than what you are seeking.
More flavor wins would be awesome! Maybe between now and Zendikar season 2 can focus on planes walkers featured in other recent sets, like you did with core 21 - Ikoria, Theros 2, Eldraine?
Yeah that's what I'm thinking. It wouldn't be every week though. Maybe just one or two more by the time we're into Zendikar. But we'll see!

Unless Bolas kept Garruk out of War of the Spark by like shielding Eldraine from the beacon or something, I don't think they took place at the same time - Oko didn't seem to react to the beacon, and the Kenriths, who's POV we had through that whole story, also didn't see it. We know the beacon calls to anyone with a spark whether or not its ignited, as we saw with Teyo, whos spark only ignited because he was so distracted by the beacon that he got buried alive.
(Side note: That also sorta means the beacon could be used to like detect potential planeswalkers yeah? Ral really should look into that a bit...)
At first I thought that Eldraine was a prequel story since we already knew the twins were in battlebond but a friend pointed out supplemental sets like that don't take place at any specific point in the timeline, so it might just have occurred immediately after War of the Spark like how the sets released.
Can't have another Garruk in the new set, need room to cram that 582nd Jace card in there.
As a heads up. Arena shows your opponent what you are hovering over. So if you are hoping they won't notice something be sure not to hover over it or else they'll figure out what you saw that they didn't :).
Still waiting for Garruk in Kaldheim, maybe we’ll even get to see the Kenrith twins again or somehow the events on Kaldheim are just the origin story for Garruk and happen in the past.
It’s hard to know anything right now to be honest, what I can say with conviction is that I’m not excited even one bit about Strixhaven...
Who honestly wants a Harry Potter rip off at this point of time?? And with new phyrexian cards in commander legends I’m 100% positive that we are not going back to new phyrexia in a long long time and that one is my favorite plane and story line. :(

Hey, me from the future here. Kaldheim is fully spoiled now. No Garruk. Sad face. I still hope to see more of Garruk in the future, as underwhelming as Kaldheim is (Vorinclex and elves and snow excluded).
