Now that they are opening vanilla servers i will return to giving them money. I'm just hoping it's going to be as good as our old private servers and they take care of us like the private servers did with issues and so on, and that this is just some quick cash grabbing bullshit to put money towards the new wow

They probably were involved with Wrath somehow with future patches, but their taint didn't start to show until Cata. The first omen I remember was when they started to cater to casuals in endgame PvE content.
The thumbnail of this video says a lot to me. When Jon rants, he doesn't blast rage out; he speaks with a degree of calmness and reason. His rants are far more pleasant to listen to than most others'.
This is the only video of him I've watched, but this rant makes him seem like a cry baby. Just whining and making childish comments throughout the whole video, I liked Sodapoppins video on this issue so much more.

With any other blizzard game you can still play the vanilla version, Starcraft without BroodWar, Diablo 2 without LoD, wc3 without frozen throne etc, the only exception is World of Warcraft. You made really good points and I agree it should at least be a server option on wow, and who knows maybe blizz will see an increase in returning subs.

If he could put out one or two videos a month with a shitty budget and basically phone camera footage on a tripod of him just being on a couch saying stupid shit with awkward jumpcuts and edits and low budget post effects - basically all the shit he has in this video - I would infinitely prefer that to one video every two or three months with high end sets and budgets and scripts. TF2 in this case feels like an example. Even if you can argue that the game is still fun today, it definitely isn't the same game that it used to be years ago.

I didn't stop because of the infulx of new people coming to play the game, I thought that was a great thing! I stopped playing when they decided to start adding the hats. I have come back a few times just to see where the game is now, and each time I came back I hated it even more than the previous time.
This is why indie games have been blowing up. They're such a small development team and they truly love their game and fans, and take the voices of their customers into consideration.

Nostalrius was run by a team of volunteers that spent years coding an older version of World of Warcraft with no intentions of making a profit. Over 800,000 accounts were registered there and 150,000 were active within 10 days of the shutdown announcement. Clearly, the players don't want to that to do that either. They think they do but they don't.
I feel like I lost so much after Nost shutdown, I had a large circle of friends and got to know more and more people... Its not like that on any other MMORPGs that Ive played, not even on Classhit...
Jon brings up a good point. These people are dismissing the biggest complaint that the fanbase has now, and none of them seem to care. They're so pre-occupied with thinking of new games to make that they can implement microtransactions in that when a legitimate issue like this comes up, they spit in the faces of all the 120,000+ people that attended Nostralrius' farewell. You can't just tell fans of your game who are building custom servers from scratch that they don't know what they want. I'm pretty sure they know damn well what they want- they're shelling out money out of pocket to make it happen in the first place! Imagine if Valve took down all the servers for TF2 and instituted a new shitty mode where all you do is stand around in a base and play minigames and shit. Valve would catch hell a thousand times over and no one would buy another Valve game again! I was thinking about picking up WoW and trying the Overwatch Beta, but after seeing the doucheknockers that Blizzard has become, there's no way in hell I'd ever give up a cent to them now.

I really enjoyed vanilla WoW a lot. The amount of time I would need to invest to learn about all the expansive changes would almost be its own full time job now these days. It's a shame Blizzard feels the need to disrespect some of the their most core and early adopters and basically offer no LEGAL alternative to vanilla private servers.

Jagex did the same thing you're referencing to, Jon and the points you made about players would come back to play the vanilla are 100% correct, Jagex released an old version of their game and now their main game and the older version are 50/50 player base

With any other blizzard game you can still play the vanilla version, Starcraft without BroodWar, Diablo 2 without LoD, wc3 without frozen throne etc, the only exception is World of Warcraft. You made really good points and I agree it should at least be a server option on wow, and who knows maybe blizz will see an increase in returning subs.

I didn't stop because of the infulx of new people coming to play the game, I thought that was a great thing! I stopped playing when they decided to start adding the hats. I have come back a few times just to see where the game is now, and each time I came back I hated it even more than the previous time.
This is why indie games have been blowing up. They're such a small development team and they truly love their game and fans, and take the voices of their customers into consideration.
Until they get bought up by a big company, make a sequel and completely ruin the franchise.

Nostalrius was run by a team of volunteers that spent years coding an older version of World of Warcraft with no intentions of making a profit. Over 800,000 accounts were registered there and 150,000 were active within 10 days of the shutdown announcement. Clearly, the players don't want to that to do that either. They think they do but they don't.

Jon brings up a good point. These people are dismissing the biggest complaint that the fanbase has now, and none of them seem to care. They're so pre-occupied with thinking of new games to make that they can implement microtransactions in that when a legitimate issue like this comes up, they spit in the faces of all the 120,000+ people that attended Nostralrius' farewell. You can't just tell fans of your game who are building custom servers from scratch that they don't know what they want. I'm pretty sure they know damn well what they want- they're shelling out money out of pocket to make it happen in the first place!
Imagine if Valve took down all the servers for TF2 and instituted a new shitty mode where all you do is stand around in a base and play minigames and shit. Valve would catch hell a thousand times over and no one would buy another Valve game again!
I was thinking about picking up WoW and trying the Overwatch Beta, but after seeing the doucheknockers that Blizzard has become, there's no way in hell I'd ever give up a cent to them now.

I really enjoyed vanilla WoW a lot. The amount of time I would need to invest to learn about all the expansive changes would almost be its own full time job now these days. It's a shame Blizzard feels the need to disrespect some of the their most core and early adopters and basically offer no LEGAL alternative to vanilla private servers.

Rikudou Sennin I highly doubt they were actually going to do that. Seems to me as if they said that just to make it seem like they weren't being pressured to do something they didn't want to do.
