this film marked my life a lot and only increased my desire to fulfill my dream, which is to explore the world, to visit new places, to connect more with nature, without having to kill animals of course, why this is living, instead to live a routine of working 8 hours a day, paying bills and cleaning the house.
Interesting story portrayed by actors playing parts in a story based loosely on a real story which did not end well for the main character. Not the first movie with the story line of man rejecting a material life. Wont be the last. Movies are not a guide for living a life. At best movies tell a story and maybe, just maybe, get you to think on the message a director is trying to tell.

Jacob that is beautiful. It would be cool if after that you could inspire just one person like Chris did for you, and Ron Franz, and the hippie couple. But even if you didn't its great that you allowed Chris' story to save you and be one part of who you are.

so....yeah, crying as I listen to this in 10/2020 just as tears flowed and flowed at the end of this movie when I saw it, in the theater....which I saw well after reading the book. This was the music of my coming of age, and this movie represented a lot of us resless spirits that lived in mountain communities making just enough money during any "on season" so that you could cram in to a van with the person you loved at the time and go and see what the roads, waves, mountains, rivers, crags and hills had to offer this time around. It wasn't just the road, or the mountains or the politics that united us, it was the music, music was our church our bible and our God.

Powerful film. Saw it on its release date in a theater in Kalispell, Montana. Reminded me of my own youth 50 years ago. Great soundtrack also. Perhaps most important was that Christopher McCandless’ story was from his journal. Sean Penn was also very savvy in his making the film.

this song is a hymn to life. Masterpiece. The world would not be the same without this passage. It's a bit like Bitter Sweet Simphony 2
It's a cover FYI
@@dnicol2 So's Bitter Sweet :)
I taught this book to seventeen-year-olds in Australia. The music was such an Integral part of the course.
RIP Chris McCandless. He had such a long life ahead but chose to do what made him truly happy. Grew up around materialistic parents and he wasn’t interested in becoming like them. I’m just glad we got to hear his story.
He was an idiot. He went out into the wild with no idea what he was doing. He claimed he wanted to live outside of this materialistic life but relied on everyone else who did live it to get him around. He isn't inspirational, he was a moron
@@Arrica101 Naive is the word youre looking for. Remember being 22? Remember feeling invincible?
And you must be so special and clever
His story is literally the story of buddha
@@Arrica101 and you’re an asshole. I hope you are young, like he was, and you’ll realize you went at it all wrong, just like he did. If you’re a grown man/woman calling a young man an idiot for being passionate and dying doing what he lived for, well then you’ll always be an asshole
this song has changed the way I think. every time I hear this song, it takes me far away to the place where I belong
Exactly how I felt at 17. So my escape was to disappear into the Army for 10-years. Glad to be alive today in 2022. 40 days and 40 nights and it's still coming down on me....❤
Eddie Vedder has a lot of awesome songs out there. This one takes them all home.
@@ADDrecords Thank you
Eddie does have a lot of awesome songs out there but this song is a cover. The artist is Gordon Peterson and the original hard sun came out in ‘89. Give it a listen…it’s all kinds of awesome.
Hits me in the feels pretty hard, man.
Honestly I have never liked Pearl Jam or Eddie Vedder but this song and Into The Wild album changed my mind about Eddie at least! Keep this song on repeat..🖋️🖤
Whenever it comes on my UA-cam channel I watch the full video. It's so good.
thats cuz its a cover
Hi, thanks for being an amazing fan. Your consistent love and Support can never be over exaggerated. I Appreciate. It’s always a huge pleasure having time with my fans, most especially when ever I am in my free time..
This song just hits differently. The music is beautifully intertwined with the lyrics.
Hello Aaron,
how're you doing,
Your comment caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you.
Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you!❤️
Yeah, I bet the writer Gordon Peterson (Indio) would appreciate that...
Don't know how this movie and song doesn't move people. I am speechless every time!
This song always brings tears to my eyes, even when I play and sing it myself. So beautifull, thanks Eddy for your music and a big thank you to Sean Penn, the actors and actrises for the movie.
This isn't Eddie's music. The song is by Indio(Gordon Peterson) and was a #1 hit in Canada in the late 80s.
I love this film so much ❤❤❤.
💯

Best song by eddie vedder
Just got back from Wyoming to the northern suburbs of Chicago. Great trip. God bless everyone. Awesome place. We tipped our toes into the wild.
This is such an amazing song, it was my fave ever when i was a toddler. And what i love most is the grand finale at the end of the song, as the electric guitar just keeps getting louder and louder and louder until u can barely hear Eddie singing!!!
Its the body that dies....soul is immortal.
This song reminds of my Zoey. Man I loved her. R.I.P. Zoey..I was blessed to have you by my side
Rest in peace...
Absolutely love eddie Vedder. His poetic lyrics and soul stirring music just reach my soul. Its like im alive again in a life that can feel lost and misunderstood
Not his lryics...and I'd assume Vedder would not want all the credit he's getting as this is a pretty much carbon copy of the original by Indio (Gordon Peterson) minus Joni Mitchel and Brenda Russell as backing singers !
Great song...eddie's voice was perfect for this. Great movie...tough ending.
Definitely one of my all-time favorite songs right there.
the best movie. One of the most incredible real stories I've ever known. A life story in which we can reflect on what happiness is and the meaning of life. Rest in peace Alexander Supetramp, you have found a peace that you have been looking for.
so....yeah, crying as I listen to this in 10/2020 just as tears flowed and flowed at the end of this movie when I saw it, in the theater....which I saw well after reading the book.
Eddie Vedder made this movie even more legendary with this priceless music
🔥🔥🔥
40 days and 40 nights and it’s still comin down on me.
This movie and song and verse has stood out to me for 13 years now.

even existent, or even existed ever!!
Everytime I hear this something different comes to mind it's very mind-expanding!! Dare to dream...... Let go, peace is possible... it's beautiful ❤️😊
Literally still the best voice in the world
The movie that changed my life
What is the movie?
This song and others from the soundtrack make me feel a lot of the worlds worries feel so small. All the problems society has and all the problems every individual faces everyday. The music has a stronger almost earthy natural feeling that seems to trump all human made issues. It’s uplifting and deep at the same time.
One day i finally going to visit america. Love the Country and freedom.
This movie learned to how to live life ❤
I am a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, GA just like McCandless was. And the scene of this movie where he graduates from Emory was filmed in part at my graduation in 2006! Go Eagles!!!
Eddie Vedders unique voice is what makes this song so awesome.👌
The Original is just as good. ua-cam.com/video/PvFfDTGlCig/v-deo.html

Profound and very inspirational - and I listen and watch this video often to remind me that life is what you make it
Thankyou Eddie for making this movie even more special. Hard Sun at the end of Into the Wild is so emotional and always makes me cry. The whole sound track is amazing. You are amazing Eddie 👏👏💞💞💯💯💥💥
Hello Jennifer,
how're you doing,
Your comment caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you.

Eddie is amazing but this song is a cover Jennifer. The original Hard Sun was written and performed by Gordon Peterson in 1989. The backup vocals were sung by Joni Mitchell and it is sublime. Give it a listen. The album name was “Big Harvest”.
A voz desse cara é indiscutivelmente única .
Eddie Vedder 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Absolutely truth
This song gives me pure joy. I don't know how to explain it, but this movie, this soundtrack. I found it at a very impressionable time and so I'm happy I did. Its made me realize what I want in my life. I wish more people could see the power in the film and this man.

2:09 gets me. Eddie was the perfect call for this great film.
My daughter is turning 12 years old this song I was born in 67 it makes me feel so damn good and it let you know life is short live it to the best
Credit where it's due, Eddie Vedder does a GREAT job on this 1989 song by Canadian Gordon Peterson.
Yes you're right. Brilliant lyrics, beautiful haunting music.
Life changing phase keep on feeling like there something better out there!
I love the riff of this song. It's so heart warming. Every time I listen to a song that I like, I get that warming sensation with the chills that flow through my body, and this song is one of em!
This song makes me drop dead everything I cherish in this material world and just go into the wilderness and become part of it.
Best song I've heard in a long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Locked in alone with coronavirus and found this film and this song. Sort of an emotional ride - what great art does for the human soul.

True, but this song was written by Gordon Peterson.
@@guywithpaddle I love his version. Just listened to it and it's wonderful
Beautiful
I've seen the movie over a decade ago... That song brings me back to emotions at that VERY moment and that movie is unforgettable !! Eddy, Sean, you guys ROCK !
This song touched ALL of us 90’s kids that listened. Eddie’s words shaped my young mind then and still does today. The movie was produced to make you remember who you are and who you want to be. Don’t ever stop living. Good or bad it’s all too short to miss any of it so wake up!
Read the book
It's been a while since I heard such a damn good song and having like a forever lasting earworm. Thank you for this masterpiece
How does this music capture the spirit of the American land so beautifully??
Good (rhetorical) question - ironically, it was written by a Canadian artist in the late '80s...
@@magyarsrac100 Me being from India, I dont see Canada and America as much different. And what I meant by 'the spirit of the land' (for me) comes from it's original natives, the Indians who inhabited the whole landmass, the whole continent from north to south. Back when there were not borders and labels of what is US and what is Canada.
