This is not the story of a Minecraft player who possibly cheated to get a faked Minecraft speedrun world record, and not the story of their friend who also did not cheat to get a faked Minecraft speedrun world record. A massive bit of information was left out which is leading to a ton of comments wondering why this run was rejected. The seed was on a list of 164 seeds. The chance of rolling one of those seeds per reset is over 1 in 26 million. (1/1099 chance of rolling one over 23982 resets). This is the major reason the run is suspicious. The run may or may not be legitimate, but it wasn't rejected solely for the fact undetectable splices are possible.

What do you mean a list of 164 seeds? These are known seeds or something like that?
@@SAPANNow Bedrock has a lot of public seed lists released in order to help SSG seedfinding. This was a seedlist which specifically had stronghold + fastion with very good proximity.
@@Danny15 If there are a lot of public seed lists then it becomes way more likely to roll a seed that is on at least one of the lists though. There have to be way more than only 164 seeds that have been listed somewhere.
I was about to say the list had 726 seeds, but now I notice it's on a refined list of those seeds that had their village layouts simulated to identify the ones that had blacksmiths. So you are right. I'm saying the run was cheated, it's impossible to be sure either way.
At this point, someone should make a custom Minecraft launcher for speed running. One that communicates with the mod team with world files, code, etc. Basically a mc launcher with several layers of anti cheat
potentialy, could have a direct link to all fully accepted tools and make starting speedrunning very easy too
the biggest problem with that is privacy. you're going to have people opt out because they don't want to hand over their data to a minecraft mod, which i don't fault them for. especially these days.

In this specific case I wouldn't consider the mistake with the obsidian to be meaningful. The muscle memory in bedrock to build the portal room portal must be overwhelming. I think someone who's distracted by thoughts of pace or even just a little zoned out by resetting could easily forget what they'd just picked up out of the blacksmith, even if they made a mental note of it initially. See for instance Zylenox's first-gravel flint in his world record. He made a second flint and steel in that run at the point where you usually make a flint and steel, costing him maybe five seconds, and there's no question of seed-injection being a factor in that oversight.
I'm aware of the other circumstances that this run should be suspect; I just think this one particular thing is probably meaningless.
Probably, but the FSG bit is irrefutable
The mistake with obsidian actually makes me think that the run is real. If you were scouting the seed, you'd be playing with the idea of using the obsidian you might get from the blacksmith chest. But if you were playing a random seed, it would be much easier to forget that you had obsidian. Basically, it's a MUCH bigger mistake to forget the obsidian if you're cheating than if you're pre-recording a run. If you were cheating, why leave such a silly and obvious mistake in the video?
Still, the fact that the seed was on a list of other seeds seems incredibly suspicious. That makes it seem basically impossible that he found the seed through random resets, instead of intentionally loading up the seed without any practice. He might just be even unluckier than dream, if he randomly rolled that seed and had his WR invalidated because someone else in the world rolled and scouted that seed before.
@@alexlowe2054 You missed in the video where it says that chest loot is different every time you play the seed. So it's just neutral. Really no different from any other time you might happen to pick up obsidian in a random seed.
@@jansenncuber8009 Not really, its enough with the resource pack to not let it be verified but not enough to be 100% sure. Within the Minecraft Bedrock community higher echelon there have probably been around 1-2 million total resets if not more, that leaves around a 1/12 chance for someone to have gotten a seed on that list that could go this crazy with it sure its incredibly rare and definitely hard to believe but its not impossible that it was gotten legitimately.

This appears to be a situation where every run is guilty until proven innocent. However, this might just be necessary considering how easy it is to cheat a run. This would suck is the run was real, but we just can't know for sure.

Wow, that sucks. I feel bad for Lol869; if that record is legit, he will miss out on the recognition of the achievement. But if it is fake, then a perhaps impossible hurdle has been crowned the pinnacle of speed running. I understand why the mod team rejected it.
My hope is that it IS real, because this means a 6:45 is not only possible, but imminently achievable. If it has been done once, it will be done again.
The odds of it happening again if legit are incredibly slim.
The seed was one of the 164 fsg seeds for bedrock.
Not only would a player have to roll a 1 in a 25 million seed, they'd have to have great luck throught the run. Resulting in atleast a one a 200 million+ run

There are people out there on dead games getting double to even triple those odds legitimately even on games with 100 cc players as its peak. If there is a percentage and that percentage has been broken before then it can be achieved.

I believe that he’s innocent till proven guilty, so the mods rejecting the speedrun without anything proving him guilty is more than unfair.
That's a really sucky situation for that community to be in :/ I guess that goes to show why it can be good for moderators to be extra stringent with modification rules even before anything bad happens. Now there's a run that can't be proved to be fake, but can't be believed to be real. In the off chance it is real, that really really sucks for lol869.

If you want to speedrun and you get anything you want to upload, you need to do everything you can to prove that you aren't cheating. Start other runs, show screens, check everything you can so that when you submit something, the mod teams can see everything.

4:00 clarification: on java 1.16, 1.18+ you can spawn directly above them. Most bedrock players (non pc), can't load an older verison of MC hence dealing their stuff. If Java players had to play the latest version, then it would be the same as bedrock

The amount of times I have heard that a minecraft run may or may not be cheated and its hard to verify makes me simply think that there should be a speedrun mod similar to the competetive patch in track mania. Something that keeps track of rng potential other mods running and maybe even creates an inputfile. If you make a mod that can be in 2 modes. replay and recording. you could have it verify a replayfile since controlled rng would make minecraft deterministic I believe and that way any inputfile could be verified at least as far as splices are considered.
Although it seems like a good idea, I worry it wouldn't be as reliable as it sounds, as people could modify the mod's files as easily as they could modify Minecraft itself.
Perhaps if all files are uploaded to a server, rendering them unmodifiable by the user?
@@PKLuver944 It all depends on what can be recorded realistically. If you can record the entire rng list or close to it the game would become deterministic and messing with the file for a verify is essentially impossible. Let's say you had a bad jump and got stuck for a sec somewhere. If you want to change the inputs for that segment you would then for example load a chunk 1 second sooner which would in turn change. Which call responds to what ring value spawning a creeper instead of a zombie and you explode. You have to consider how many calls the game makes. Looking at lava makes calls for each particle pop up etc.
Then you could add stuff like checksums and obfuscation if that was not safe enough. However we are talking here about speed runners and not about securing a huge database with private information. I doubt there is more than a handful of speed runners that could trick this verification and even for those it would be an incredibly long process.
The real issue is to see if you could realistically record everything needed to verify a run and also how big those would files get.
Tbh dont agree with not verifying (unless there's more behind the scenes). Because it wasnt in the rules at the time the run was submitted to not use the resource pack, theres no way the runner could have known not to use it. If this was a real run it was cheated out of first, and if it got first while being cheated it was the mod teams fault for not properly setting out the rules.

Yeah there is "more behind the scenes". I feel like a lot of things got left out in this video which are important to have been said an are leading to a lot of people wondering why this run was rejected. The run was on a seed list of 164 seeds, which after 23,982 resets is a 1/1,099 chance to get one of those seeds (this list is less than half the size of the mcbe FSG seed list). And also there is the fact that lol869 is the one who created the pack and macro.

The fact that he rolled a seed on the "watch list", alongside using the resets resource pack doesn't just serve means to reject it outright.
There will always be a chance someone rolls the god seed, let alone seeds.

The mods only recently learned of the possibility of seed injection using the Fastest Resets mod. Previous records that used this mod were verified because of this oversight. The mods can't simply 'unverify' a long-standing World record because of a suspicion that isn't anywhere near concrete.
As said in another comment, the reason this run was rejected was actually because he played on a seed that came from a set of 164 known seeds which has a 1/26million chance of occurring naturally

@@obi584 not that significantly. I'd be surprised if they've reloaded over 1 million times which is still a very low chance. From the video, it seems each world reload takes about 4 seconds. For 1 million worlds to be created, he would've had to be resetting for over 1000 hours. Not even doing any runs at all, only resetting over and over for 1000+ hours

if i were a WR level runner im taking every precaution possible if ive run a legitimate run. reloading into another random seed straight after to show different seeds or multiple seeds, getting all files needed to submit shipped off immediately or w/e the protocol is, showing full vods before and after the run etc. so that it cant be refuted. You have to question when a runner cant do these simple things, either the run is suspicious or they just dont care.
I would like to believe that this is legit and so untill it's proven as illegitimate I will believe this record is legit.
it's probably never going to be proven illegitimate with definite proof, although there are so many factors pointing towards it being faked that it is unreasonable to count it as legit (as other commenters have said it was on a FSG seed list with 164 other seeds, making it a 1/26 million chance to roll this seed)

@@KaiWorld Resetting for 10 obsidian is like 1/15 between 2 blacksmiths and it saves 5-10s. If anyone ran this as a set seed, they would just run it like a normal ssg seed playing for a pick and 3 iron. The thing that helps his innocence here is more that he didn't get iron for a bucket from a chest.
The fact he made the resource that could be used to force worldseeds, then getting a wr with such a large time difference out of nowhere, does add some suspicion to his run
lols resource pack was actually based off my original faster resets resource pack which is very similar to his. danny15 can probably prove this since he used to use my pack.
We are approaching the Minecraft RSG singularity. Eventually, the time will get so low, that the only way to improve it is to get ridiculous luck that will have to be banned regardless of whether it is real or not. Alternatively, a cheating method(s) will be found that is hypothetically impossible to detect if done correctly, making all runs that have and will exist potentially cheated. Enjoy RSG competition while you can folks, cause it's only a matter of time before it's dead.

As a long time member of this community I’m so proud of how it has come along especially in the past few months. And Lol is a prime example of an amazingly special runner. I’m very proud of him and the the things he has accomplished. As for this run I choose to believe it’s real, but I don’t know, and we may never now for certain. Again I can’t stress enough how good a runner Lol is, I ran MCBE for over 2 years and didn’t even come close to the things he accomplished. Again I’m proud of Lol and I hope he can put this behind him, which undoubtedly will be hard.
I always wondered if there is a way to always generate a “decent” seed using seed manipulation and undetectable mods. This idea seems far from impossible and just a matter of time before there is a runner that wil abuse this future mechanic

He is innocent though! The mods just didn't verify the run for a using a (at the time) questionable tool, they didn't ban him or anything
I agree with treating everyone as innocent, but the reason 'innocent until proven guilty' is a thing is because when a claim is made, there needs to be evidence to back it up. When someone is facing criminal charges, the claim is they broke the law and there needs to be evidence. When someone submits a WR speed run, the claim is their speed run is real and legitimate and there needs to be sufficient evidence to back that up.

Well its not like they can't rollback their decision to pull down his record if they find the most tiniest portion of evidence that he cheated. More like cheaters have to always be on guard that they cannot reveal their cheats in any form of way, and ngl that kind of life is like "catch me if you can".
Nowadays its more like a status symbol to be have the best speedrun time possible. And what people generally end up doing is that, they make sure to blow up in popularity enough to the point that they don't have any kind of attachments to the speedrun wr. That way when they end up getting caught, they be like "I just did it for fun" while fully knowing that they used the speedrun fame to set up their career path. And their fans are likely to follow coz they don't do any speedrun content anymore and branched off to an entirely different section.
It's a genius career move, but it sucks that this community is being used as a launchpad rather than being respected as a hobby

It was on older versions I think, I remember having a world in 1.17 and I spawned like 800 blocks away from 0, 0 bcz It was a dessert biome, but now when I create a world it spawns in 0, 0 no matter what biome is

maybe they start some day and force runners to start recording before they even start the game, make them show anything they do while speedrunning. Not even to reveal cheaters, but to make runs as safe as possible from cheating accusations. we may also need a tool, that records what processes are running on the pc while playing.
especially in games like minecraft where cheaters have many options to mess with the game, that's something we may need

Whenever there are pre-learned seeds people can usually point it out through the body language of the runner. Nobody is doing that here beyond the goof with the obsidian

at some point the only way to beat the world record (provided no major changes in strats) will be to highroll 12 eyes in the portal frame and skip the nether entirely
1 in a trillion odds, so you’d need a million speed runners doing a million runs to reach 1 trillion (With that not even being a guarantee with bad luck).
If you got 1,000,000,000 people doing one run a day, or 100,000,000 people doing ten runs a day, it could probably be done in a few years, but good luck coordinating that.

Well to be honest if you say that the nether portal making is practiced that could also be because of how many times you don’t get obsidian so it could just be automatically doing things maybe due to high emotions but thats just my thing. Am not a minecraft pro so yea just thought that point had another way to think about it

I feel like the random seed Minecraft speedrun category is such a meme. You are literally trying to win the lottery at this point to beat the record. Of course skill goes into a player’s ability to capitalize on the rng, but to me the amount of rng required to get a world where it’s remotely possible to beat the record is becoming so infinitesimally small that you basically have to question the validity of the run every single time there’s a new record. I’ve lost interest in following the category entirely because there’s so many incentives to cheat these runs, which has been seen countless times again and again.
Not as far as I know, but leaderboard mods don’t like the resource pack used so may not be verified.

In my opinion for any run to count to the world record it should have to be live streamed. This would significantly, if not completely remove the possibility of cheating in these runs. Obviously this isn't ideal but with the amount of cheating in this game I think it is necessary

Why there isn't a rule:
Right after the run - record how you .rar or .zip your entire client, upload it, and then show the link name (which then you link to moderators to prove that you're legit)

I haven't completed watching the video yet. I'm pretty sure if sub 5 minutes speed runs ever get published, they will be extremely suspicious even when they are legitimate because that's just the amount of luck the speedrunner would need to get. That amount of luck is possible if they were willing to retry like a bazillion times. To avoid suspicion, they would need to stream most of their runs to prove their legitimacy. I don't know if 6 minutes is already beginning to seem suspicious.
I can understand banning instant reset after this run but why also include it as lol869 played it previous to the banning just like the others so unless there is other evidence of cheating I see no reason not to verify it.
Because this was the run that kickstarted the pack to eventually get banned, we had thought that Lol had made the tools to (possibly) make an undetectable cheated run and for that reason it isn't verified.

I said it before and ill say it again, the resetting tool bedrock runners use is basically a nerfed FSG, as it filters seeds that don't meet the requiremtents

@@SprinkzMC I mean that is lowkey the tech it uses, it automatically resets seeds (filters) ones that don't meet requirements of coordinates, it would be like that biome auto resetter on java that's banned or the more crazy buried treasure auto resetter.
Yup. I actually think there's a decent chance this wasn't "cheated" but since so much of random seed minecraft is based on the seed quality it's effectively the same thing.

killing the dragon is the part that matters? seems like almost all speedrun timers end with the credit screen, not the killing of the dragon?
We have it like that bacause sometimes the dragon dies weirdly and makes it hard to tell when exactly it died but the portal spawns an exact amount of time after it does die

9:25 He got 6/8 blaze rods while I just saw Danny Gonzalez kill 6 blazes for 1 blaze rod. He's not even close to getting a world record anytime soon anyway, but his bad blaze rod luck still wasted minutes regardless.
Not rejecting the previous records is a fucking insult. If using resource packs is cause for suspicion, then uphold that ruling fairly. I wish I could say I was surprised, but speedrun moderators across communities continually disappoint.
