I'm sure at all stages of that painting, if I were doing it, if be thinking "yep. I've ruined it". But Karen just carries on and it works.
just thankyou for sharing your talent and teaching so freely
This was fun and the music was EXCELLENT!
Thank you!
Wonderful! And so fun! thank you, Karen.
I love your use of the twig! There is an apple tree across the street but in the absence of my walking over there and crossing the muddy ditch 😅 I got a chop stick and sharped it with the pencil sharpener, another option is a bamboo skewer if that doesn’t work.
Great suggestion thanks for sharing 😀
I don't have access to a suitable tree so thank you for the chop stick idea!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Karen! Love your work!!!!!
It’s beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration 👍🎉
Thank you! I have never seen anyone draw with an apple tree branch. A very original solution. I’ll share a technique: take three (or more or less) brushes in your hand with paint of different colors and tones (depending on the task). This way, for example, you can quickly and easily draw tree crowns.
Thank you so much for sharing 🎨
Oh good thought. Able to try to keep the art creation flowing.
One of my favorite works on youtube. I've tried for the third time and l like the result. But I think I will try the fourth time too )))
that is wonderful to read, I am really pleased that you enjoyed painting this one… Three times and now maybe a fourth! Have fun :-)
@@KarenRiceArt thanks!
Wow... I am a watercolor enthusiast and this is exactly the style I like
It is so helpful hearing you talk about the paint consistency and how creamier paint behaves vs more liquid. It forces me to pay more attention to what I am doing and consider more carefully the effect/s I am going for. I now have a more solid grasp on runs, cauliflowers, streaking, etc. Thank you for these videos.
Thank you! I’m so pleased you found this helpful 😀
Love your warm up - to a beautiful painting. Loose, easy looking and calming. Thank you.
Thank you so much!:-)
Beautiful muted colours, Karen, love this painting. I tend to use very bright colours (Japanese Kuratake paint is my favourite), but I do have Windsor and Newton basics. I think sometimes less is more and I love your colour combinations. I think I need to change tactics! Thanks again for your wonderful talent.
Beautiful Karen. As always, thank you.
Thank you :)
Marvelous, love your strokes and your semplicity and lightness! Thank you!
Thank you Nada :)
Absolutely beautiful Karen, thank you so much for sharing
Thanks so much Sue! :)
It really is beautiful. Your love for the medium shows in the way you let go and let the color do it’s thing. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much!
My problem is I tend to use watercolors the same way artists use oil color (although I've never used it) in that I overwork things and am fixated on details. I enjoyed your demonstration and I'm determined, as difficult as it is for me, to simply "throw the paint down" and just be playful. I might even try adding a "weird" color to the scenario to see how that could be done. Thanks so much and since I've subscribed to your channel, looking forward to watching you at work! 🎨
Great idea! Just go for it!
I have learned so much from you, thank you! I love how you always leave small amounts of white paper. It adds so much to the painting.
I'm so glad! Thanks 😊
Your loose painting techniques and tutorials are so inspiring and helpful, love painting along! Many thanks again for sharing your talent!

This is a very exciting demonstration to watch. This is what I love about abstract paintings - the broad, expressive strokes, and those slightly unanticipated blooms and bleeds. Thank you for this lovely video.

I really enjoy your videos, Karen. So many techniques! Watercolors are a daunting medium for the faint of heart. You make it all seem so doable. Thank you! You are to watercolor painting what your fellow Brit Stuart Davies is to oils!
Thank you so much! I have just checked out Stuart's work! amazing!! :)
Karen Rice Art Channel Karen, maybe you and Stuart could team up and run a painting camp when the world returns to some semblance of normality. He lives in France. I could imagine artists wanting to get instruction in oils and watercolors.
Very relaxing, she makes it seem so doable!♡

Thank you Marilynn :)
Thank you! I'm a beginner to watercolors and get nervous about making art in front of other people. When my friend and I were looking up tutorials to do together, I picked this one because it's less structured (I hate blindly copying art). I love how even you don't know how your painting will turn out! I love listening to you explain your process.
Thanks so much Melike! So pleased you found this tutorial helpful! It was so much fun to paint as well!
Very helpful! Thanks for the inspiration!
