I am inspired by your videos, and have been binge watching for the past few days. Thank you for sharing your methods, and materials, but mostly the voice over explanations. I appreciate your generosity!
THANKYOU. I use 140 lb paper. Sometimes I stretch it on a board and it’s easy to manipulate. Sometimes I wet a pice of plexiglass glass and the wet paper sticks successfully to the plexiglass glass Cotton rag paper is the best as it holds more water so stays wet longest. I appreciate the skills and work you do. Love to see more. THANKYOU
Thank You for this tutorial....I saw a possible painting after 1 minute......It seems like there are many 'stop points' from which to choose along the way
God bless. Amen. You are amazing.my hope is for peace in the world. I want to become much more fluid in life and watercolor is starting to envision this thought. I look forward to your channel 🧚🏼♂️
This is my first video of yours and I’m loving your techniques. I am wanting to paint more loose so I have put my acrylics aside and learning by UA-cam watercolors. Being an older woman my hearing is not so good and I would love if you could also show the bottles of your mediums that you use or if you have a list of your materials that would be great. Thank you
Awesome, Debra Lyn! You are an original. You don't follow "rules." That's the beauty of watercolors. Using PH Martin is a great addition. After watching your incredible creations, I have ordered. As for 300 lb paper....I'll try the 140 all cotton, but most likely will order the 300 lb. I adore abstracts. I really got into alcohol ink painting...so the fun is unpredictable! Thank you! This is gorgeous!😘👍💖🎨 PS: I have Mijello, but Daniel Smith is excellent due to some of their gradient paints.
Subscribed a few weeks ago. Thanks for the amazing tutorials. I love how you are loose with your paintings. It's what I'm really wanting to learn. Thanks for the help! Oh... God bless you too!
Love this painting! Gorgeous! I'm new to watercolor painting and found your channel. I'm obsessed with this way of painting. Thank you for sharing your creativity and insight!😊🤗
I am a new subscriber. You are so talented. Thank you for sharing techniques. I work with India ink and golden fluid acrylics on watercolor paper and you pave the path for more experiments ❤️👏🏻❤️
I am an abstract artist just discovering watercolors. This was so much fun to see. If I can suggest that you paint so that we see the angle you see - having the painting upside down for most of the filming is hard on the eyes and brain! Looking forward to learning with you.
Thanks for tuning in, glad you liked it…except the upside down filming 😂…hey it’s an older film, I had no idea how to film film, but I learned!! I have more current landscapes that won’t mess with you 😂, just check my channel there there buried in piles of flowers.
Hi Debra! I know it's been a long time since you posted this video, but I really love this style and want to try it! My only down comment is, although you have music playing in the background It's the same short melody being looped 'over' your voice and alas, it's way too loud and very distracting! I truly love what you're doing but i must be able to hear what you're saying! Sorry for the negative comment Cheers Charles Campbell
I’ve stopped doing that, it was the early days of learning about putting a video together, sorry. I figured I would keep it up regardless. Thanks so much for turning in and watching even when you want to pull your hair out 😂you’re a real trooper! Gold star goes to Charles for sticking it out even through that music!! 😂⭐️
Hi Debra! Not to worry! I don't have that much hair to pull out anyway! No offence! I love your work! I watch it all the way through! Even if I have to turn the volume lower! It was just an observation! Go well and have a great Christmas! Here's a token of appreciation! Cheers Charles ua-cam.com/video/Bfq3irQLBoI/v-deo.html
Thanks for the tutorial! I tried this and when it dried it was dull and lifeless. Any ideas? I used Fabriano Artistico 100% cotton traditional white 140 lb paper. I used a couple Van Gogh paints that are granulating and Blue Apatite Genuine from Daniel Smith. It was beautiful when it was wet! Do you think I used too much water? I did not find that there was a lot of pigment on my desk, though. Thank you again for your tutorials!
You have to use a lot of pigment to achieve this technique. Wet paper, add tube paint that’s not watered down to palette knife apply to paper, then add water and more pigments.
Thanks so much Stacey! The brush is a hake brush, inexpensive and a good one for every artist studio, highly recommend. Be safe, be well and God bless.
I just subscribed to your channel and am thrilled with this video. One suggestion that would help me is to not have any background music, it drowns out your voice and doesn’t add anything positive.
It is gorgeous....love it very much....I always use a large pee pad on my watercolor table...never any mess and it absorbs probably close to 300 pounds of water too....lol....XOXO HUGZ
Nicole, I'll have to check them out. But every time I read this message I laugh. The idea of using a pee pad in your studio...300 pounds of water...all funny. Ok, I have a warped sense of humor. I'll stop while I'm ahead.
LOL...I know it sounds funny and I was kinda embellishing by saying it held 300 pounds of water....but it holds a lot....and no...no warped sense of humor,...it's artist humor...we have to embrace weird and be weird....right? XOXO
Love how you use the scraper! It keeps the pigment so intense! Did you water down the PH Martin bleed proof white or is the paper so wet it just looks like it?
Thanks! I pour the BPW into my well, then I grabbed my squirrel hair quill which was already holding a lot of water and drip into the product, then apply to painting.
I have a request ......" one of the problems I have in watching your videos is this "I can't seem to really understand what colors you are using?????I know you tried even more in this video to show us by giving a picture instead of just saying the colors but I can't read or really see the names on the tube well and when I try to hear the names .....still I can't really understand well enough to follow you?????I hope you don't take this wrong it's just that I keep having this problem and thought you would want to know....Otherwise I appreciate what you are doing sharing with us......Keep shinning please and thank you :)

I'm learning this and have used 140lb. paper. But, I have it taped to a plexiglass board that's a few inches larger and the results were stunning.
Only just discovered your channel. Love your style of painting!!
Very nice ... thank you for sharing

I love wet in wet. This is superb. New sub here 👍🏻🇬🇧💖

Agree. Shocking good. Nice to have some around for sure.
Hit the wrong button. Your work is really, really beautiful and I have never used the Martin's or granulation liquid before. Thanks so much.
Lovely!!! Thank you
Thank you!!!
I love it, I should try, thank you so much for sharing❤️
Very pretty, Debra Lynn. I'm going to try it on a smear sheet of 140 lb and pray it doesn't give out on me. Love your painting and your channel.
Meant to say smaller sheet.😄
Thanks! I hope it turned out! Fingers and toes crossed here for you!

I don't quite often with 140# paper. I tape it down
Cool painting..where Do you get a little hand scraper?
LOVE this. What kind of brush did you use at the beginning?
Thanks so much Stacey! The brush is a hake brush, inexpensive and a good one for every artist studio, highly recommend. Be safe, be well and God bless.

used opaque paint in watercolor is making lot Mudd colorless trial no move much. is good technique
is the 300lb. paper rough or cold press? Thanks! (Hampton heritage paper).
Yes 300# and cold press.
Which paper you use here
what's the texture? Hot pressed or cold press?
I always work on cold press or rough.
Very interesting. thank you very much. I love your explanation. I just find the music too loud and disturbing. Don't hear you well.
Great tutorial but the music is too loud, it takes away from what you're saying and it's really distracting, just a bit of constuctive criticism.
This looks so easy but it isn’t! 😂
It can get tricky, I’ve has some not go so well myself.
