I am truly a beginner at watercolor painting but this video made it seem so easy. Matthew made it wonderfully simple to understand. I really feel this will be something I will start doing and enjoying so much. Thank you
So glad I found your video's, really helped me. Started learning from UA-cam last year at the age of 71. Wish I had found yours then. Love wet on wet with no sketching.
I recently got back into painting after years and it's a lot more difficult than I remember. I watched this video and re-created it my self. It was very easy to follow and there are really good tips and techniques that helped me so much. 10/10

Your comment about light is spot on. We have a stunning view of hills from our house and we get the light coming through trees in a morning but those same hills have light on them in an evening too.
What a great video Matthew. Clear, concise and a host of first class painting tips which I'll be trying. I love the way in which you paint the reeds. It's not easy at all but you make it look like it is. Thank you.

You make it look so easy to work with watercolour. I have a very hard time painting with watercolour. I will try again tonight, hopefully I will have a little luck. Thank you for sharing this beautiful video. I did see this one before, and I really like this painting.
Thank you so much. Wish I could publish the results of following your video. I worked 4 at a time so I didn't have to wait for the paint to dry. They were all acceptable but one I felt was really worthy of sharing with you for a beginner. Thank you for the inspiration. I made it public on Facebook for you to see. Your instructions are so easy to follow and you are so encouraging. Thank you, Matthew.
Congratulations Matthew. Absolutely marvelous landscape tutorial. Perhaps one of the best I have see. Well worth the crick in my neck trying to get the picture upright.
I've been trying to get into watercolour but it's all been a bit frustrating so far - I don't have enough time (young kids!) nor have I been seeing enough progress. The amount of tutorials, people to 'follow' and materials out there make it all overwhelming. Yours is one of the first watercolour pages I've viewed on UA-cam and I decided to just go for it with this painting tonight. My final result is surprisingly good and I learned a lot. Turns out the 30 minute 'quick-draw' was just what I needed - don't think, just paint. This has been the most inspiring thing I've done to date. Sincerely, thank you, Matthew, and Keep up the great work!
Thanks A LOT clear, not too difficult, very good explanation all the way through . Never found anything as good as your approach in French videos If you made a book I'll try to find it too
Hi Matthew, I saw you have updated your site this year. I found this exercise very helpful not having to sketch the landscape scene first. I'm left-handed it was a little difficult keeping up with the angle to remember as you progressed. I am hoping to purchase one of your DVD's and continue to follow online. I need more appropriate brushes too. Advising the brush number as you went was very helpful too.
Wow, 2 million views! No doubt aided by your thoughtful and thorough commentary answering every question forming inside the viewer's head as they watch you paint. Hope you do more of this. Thanks!
