I remember watching him on Star Search! When he first appeared on Idol, he seemed vaguely familiar, but I couldn't figure out why....I couldn't remember his name from Star Search, but a haunting familiarity pervaded until AI did a bit of a bio, and mentioned SS! Then, the light bulb went off, and I was rooting for him all over again!

It is clear in His Word.
He loves everyone and will grant forgiveness if/ when we repent.

Omg.. watching this interview reminds me of myself. I saw myself on him. I too struggled for being bisexual and I tried to ignored the feeling but I can't because I've been in love with my best friend for 8 years now. I'm too afraid to admit it to myself that I like both gender. I am a religious person and I prayed to God to change me so many times and today I finally admitted to myself that I'm bisexual. It's was a big step for me to accept myself .

So many gay Mormons! I had a dinner with a gorgeous LDS man this week! He is dating a woman but struggling to accept his self which I found obviously gay. Whatever that means. He said he could see himself being either one. I was from a non-denominational family myself and it took a toll on me trying to accept my sexuality. I feel for David. I hope he can reconcile his feelings. I’ve always had major feelings for David Archuletta since his American Idol days. I could feel his sexuality was an issue. I’ve also wish I could protect and care for David. His stress or anxiety felt palpable to me. I wanted to take him in. I’ve been waiting for this day to come. He’s still caught up in admitting he’s gay, and in his mind, I feel he thinks being bi is the lesser of two evils. There’s a religious aspect that is preventing him living his life authentically. What other people will think, and how it will affect my life. As a gay man myself, I know what I’m hearing and watching. As LGBTQ+ people, we know. This is his journey, and he needs to know he owes no one a explanation. He needs to know God loves him just the way he is, just as God would a straight man or woman. When you accept yourself for who you are, living your truth, honestly and genuinely, no one can ever take that from you. You’ve set yourself free from the bonds of oppression; religion.

You stated how I've felt about this for the past few weeks perfectly. This is not the case of someone comfortable in their sexuality coming out and living their truth. Bisexual men absolutely exist and can live out and proud lives, but this is not it. Growing up gay and repressing those thoughts because of your religion is one of the most life altering experiences anyone can have. It's hard to describe to others just how much it can affect our own sense of self and sexual being. "Lesser of two evils" in his case is right, as this allows him a way to acknowledge his feelings for men while behaving in a way his church deems acceptable.

Hopefully he can figure himself out on his own terms, make peace with wherever he falls on the spectrum of sexuality, and live a happy life where he can be true to himself and love himself. It's pretty scary to navigate, and I was lucky enough to not be raised in a strictly religious environment (though I grew up in the south, so homophobia was still a constant presence... except from my parents, who are both very accepting people). The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does NOT believe LGBTQ's are corrupt, evil, bad or wicked. We love ALL people. We follow Jesus Christ and we strive to follow his commandments. We join many other Christians around the world in the belief that the same gender sex (NOT same gender attraction) is sinful (Romans 1:26-27). But just because we believe that, it doesn't mean that we think the person who participates in that lifestyle is any less than anyone else. As other Christians, we also believe that sex before marriage (fornication) is sinful. It doesn't mean that person is any less than anyone else. We believe that emotionally abusing your spouse, stealing and cheating is sinful. That doesn't mean the person who participates in those activities is any less of a person.
We ALL sin and fall short of the glory of God and we all must repent of all our sins. This is how we become more like Jesus Christ. We love David Archuleta. He has been a bright light for thousands of youth and young adults in our church. I wish him well through this difficult journey ahead. My hope is that he will cling to Jesus Christ and stay faithful to the promises he has made to him.

Any truly loving G-d would want each person to be the best "them" that they could be and find love and happiness.

Over the years the bashing although less still continues to tear at my soul. I hope that people can see and feel the damage that all youth has to endure from the judgment of institutions that are unable to practice what they preach. I would like to tell David that my husband saw him as a star from the very first audition. LOL He would say "he has to be Gay just looking into his eyes you can see the compassion and hear the intensity in his voice" Scott passed away four years ago but not before following David's success and struggle along the way. His strong belief was that God knows what he is doing. Funny how there are those who say they speak for God... I for one don't feel he needs help after all with the title of "Creator of all Things" I'm sure he has a plan for all of us HATERS included. To David I say stay strong, stay safe, and be well may the years bring you comfort and happiness, and accept in your heart that you deserve it.

David, oddly God's Beloved, I am a mirror of your heart for God, only at 71 have spent my life. I would like to give you a gift. Romans 11:32 For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all. I have exactly the same struggles sexually that you do. On my 30th anniversary as a Christian, I begged God for an answer as to why I would still have desires for men. I realized that I was given this burden so that God could show me his mercy. I vowed to give him my best even in the many times of failure and his mercies have continued till today. Jotta A another beautiful Gospel singer just came out and his church slew him. Some of God's greatest gifts are hidden in very difficult places. Your voice and just who you are has blessed me so much. I listen to your music all the time. I love your gentle beautiful spirit. Try not to get into the debate as to whether it is right or wrong, but rather know that it comes along with sin that is imposed on everyone. At the foot of the cross the ground is level. Never forget how new God's mercy are everyone morning! Also, without something in your life that seemingly brings you down, it is hard to understand how profound God's mercy is. As you journey on your life, know that God has a plan for your life and will protect you and guide you. Stay near to God. In the end, my sexuality lead me down some dark paths. For the past 20 years, I have been counseling sexual offenders, offering them their life back. I would give anything to encourage you and share the insights I have learned. Be Blessed Always, and thank you for Silent Night, my all time favorite..
