Christ is ALL ABOUT CHANGE and becoming better. And no matter who you are, we ALL have to change if we want to become like Him. That was not from God.
God is God we can not be like him and I do believe that God never made mistakes when he created him or anyone the only thing that matters is that if you still believe in God that’s all that matter!
@@andyaroon Even the devil believes in God, but that's not going to save him or anyone. Belief is meaningless unless it prompts you to act ("faith without works is dead"). You're right that God never makes mistakes, but he also created us with our own natural weaknesses, all of which are contrary to God's will and nature. If we are to progress and become, we have to overcome our natural selves. If we don't need to improve, overcome, progress, from the day we were born, why did we even need to be born?

I used to cry at the church pew as a Catholic... It's very sad thinking you have to end up alone because of your religion... I now accept myself and it feels freeing to be yourself. Ugh David you're so cute 🥺😍
I'm proudly LGBT and Catholic, the pope has been such an inspiration. If only the hard-line protestants like the Mormons or the Evangelicals could open up their hearts to love, charity and humility.

He's going against God's Word though. It wasn't God's voice that he heard because the Bible says "

@@tc4583 Which translation are you reading from? Mine doesn’t say say the word homosexual once. The King James Version says effeminate which is pretty ambiguous unless you translate it literally and think God hates feminine people, which I personally do not. Many biblical scholars have translated this to pedophilia. But you have every right to believe what you want, the way you interpret scripture is between you and God.
@@josephgarner94 I'm using the New King James version but almost every version says the same thing.
It's also in line with Leviticus 18:22 which says “Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin."
We also know what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah and how God destroyed the place because of their sin of homosexuality. In fact that's where we get the word sodomy from Sodom. Till this day the place is a desert where brimstone is still found.
I can't imagine the struggle but we can't change God's Word to fit what we think is right. Jesus can and has healed those struggling with same sex attraction because it's not what He created clearly because these verses clearly show that. There are demons roaming the earth attacking people in different ways homosexuality is just one of them, others are adultery, fornication, lying, stealing etc. We all need prayers and deliverance in different ways.

This is exactly what people don’t understand about being non heterosexual; most of us actually try to be so as to not disappoint the people around us. Is the worst thing anyone has to go through, fighting who you are for fear of losing people that you love. It’s a terrible battle, and some of us have unfortunately do lose love ones because their hateful hearts does not allow them to see beyond sexuality and gender.
I am in that church and I was in a congregation that had a lesbian couple with a family. They came every week. Not all have this issue
@@trishachristensen2238 You basically just emphasized their point. Just because one place isn’t like that doesn’t mean it isn’t all too common. The point is understanding how difficult and trying it is to be in environments that discourage you from being who you were born to be, and often times alienate and disgrace you because of it. I’m happy to hear that there are wards that have leadership and members who make LGBTQ individuals and families feel welcome. Despite that, there is no denying how long the road of resolution ahead is regarding LGBTQ equality and LDS teachings and culture.
I used to stay up late at night on weekends to download songs on limewire. Chiillleee, David took us wayyyy back. These kids now days will never know.
Thank God he's still here and happier and doing good. I'm so very proud of and happy for him.

Jeff,I am still a member of this church and I really wish that he would stay. I don’t care if you like the same sex, you can still abstain from having relations, single people get to do the same thing. We still have the same desires you have we just know between right and wrong, you don’t have to sin in order to be happy ya know. God loves us still. I know he knows better.
This would be hard to overcome, but I know people who like the same gender who don’t give in to temptation because they follow the commandments. We throw away God because we want to satisfy ourselves, we just don’t get to choose the consequences
@Trisha - you should preach that same message to every heterosexual who has divorced for any other reason that one partner passing on. As you said, you can't pick and choose. Please stop making it seem like you're doing Gods work by targeting who you perceive to be an easy target.

Watched this interview sobbing. This is my story and thousands of others like me. It absolutely takes courage to go against everything you were taught just to love and accept yourself and to be happy. Unfortunately it will not make your religious family and friends happy, but their response is not your responsibility. It is between you and God. Period.

I love what he said about sex. Life isn't all about sex. Life is about love and love isn't sex. It's caring about and serving others and growing together. It's sad that he thinks he has to leave the church to feel accepted. I don't think that is true, but it feels true to him. We love and accept him. He is an emotional and sensitive person and so am I and I can relate to him as a member of the church. I love David like a son. I just don't want him to go from the covenants he has made. Sometimes we don't always get it and we need to spend so much more time on our knees then we do. God reveals to us who we are when spend the time with him.The mental anguish that we feel is fought in our own heads. David is what he is and we still love him and accept him as he is. I wish, oh how I wish, I could give him a great BIG hug! And tell him that.

As someone who's around the same age as David, I also grew up very religious (Christian) and for a long time I denied who I am. Oh man I relate so much. The countless nights of tears praying for God to "cure" me when I was younger. The constant state of feeling sinful and disgusted. Though I'm not publicly out yet, I've finally accepted myself as gay a year or two ago. I stopped trying to convince myself I was straight or even bi. It's been a long journey and I'm still trying to recover from all the mental mess hiding my identity put me in but I remember the moment I called myself "gay" I felt like so much weight was off my shoulders. Not being out is hard, tho. I still haven't found a community or even friendships that I can confide in. I'm still not able to process this with anyone. It feels lonely but I'm taking it day by day.
You are not alone. I struggled with being gay 15yrs. ago. I cried to the lord and said if me being gay is a sin I don’t want to be separated from u. God The holy trinity said “It’s not the love that separates us it’s the same love that brings us together. Also god said u will find your identity in me. And finally u are so loved . All 3 sentences where said to me at the same time and at the same moment and I understood them all. God is saying right now to seek the kingdom of God and u will find me.

So proud of David. Its not easy. I'm gay and I'm the LDS Church but nobody, absolutely nobody, should try to change you or tell you to do something like that. I'm so glad that you received that revelation that you didn't have to change. I felt the same way and I love it when others feel that too. God made us perfect the way we are. I hope my example and David help members in the church make positive changes to the LGBTQ+ community.
I lived the same process as David and I know how tough it is, even though you try to change your mind leaders of the church talk to you trying to convince you that your doing is wrong and you have been captivated by Satan, but you can´t change what you think. a big applause for David and his courage.

I watched David Archuleta when he won American Idol 2012.He was cute then .now he's cuter and doesn't look old.
David Cook won the 2008 season of American idol not David Archuleta he came in second.
I remember David from Idol. I knew he was gay at the time, and that he would have problems with his father. I'm glad he finally got it together.

Poor guy. This is how religion shouldn’t be if it’s truly about God. We are here to lift each other up not to make others feel not loved and rejected because they are different than us. God is love. Life is eternal. We pass through here to learn and hopefully grow. We all deserve to live with dignity and respect.

Life seems to be all about striving for self-worth. If you can't get it from God (or at least, from the God you were raised to believe, that asks us to change our natural selves), then you'll get it from the world. Listen to all the applause for every little thing Archuleta says about how he's perfect, just as he is, and doesn't need to change. He's found the source for his self-worth. Problem is, it's only fleeting and won't last.

That's not true. Christianity is all about CHANGE (repentance). If we didn't need to change to become better, and are just perfect exactly how we were when we were born, then why did we need to be born?
