  • Blake checks on a hive that is PACKED full of honey! He also checks the brood boxes to make sure the hive hasn't become honey bound as a result of not being supered fast enough.

    Given that the upper brood chamber didn't have a honey band how do you keep the queen from moving up to the honey super? I didn't see an excluder.

      Sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn't. We use excluders if there is a strong honey flow and a strong hive. Otherwise we don't. If she does lay in the super we would just consolidate all the brood from all the hives into one super and put it onto a week hive that needs a boost in strenght.

      Hi! If we have foundation, yes, we do bottom super. If we have comb, we just top super.
