    As weird as this may sound, we actually look forward to charging on long trips. It creates a bit of a logistical challenge with routing, but it seems to make us feel more “chill” since we are not trying to burn the wind getting from place to place. Our driving behavior is identical to gas, and life is just good. Having a CCS tesla adapter also opens up a lot of options for routing.

    We have the same year and trim E tron. We’ve done several road trips using EA stations. Doesn’t matter how hot it is the Audi will always max rate charge. It’s always the charger’s fault. EA is getting better, but you can count on one charger always offline.

    Thanks for the video, Kyle. What do you think about regen settings on the e-tron? I usually keep it in auto for longer highway trips to provide better coasting, and manual for max regen when I'm driving in the city. Do you have a preferred setting to help efficiency?

    • @Ficon
      @Ficon 2 роки тому +2

      Coasting is more efficient than regen which does not put 100% of the kinetic energy into the battery pack (one-pedal driving is a Tesla marketing invention to hide the inability to develop a blended braking system). The key to e-Tron efficiency is to maximize coasting because it has two induction motor and gobs of momentum thanks to that hefty weight. Drive with Dynamic suspension (lower ride height is worth about 10% efficiency on the highway) with motors in D. You can try Efficiency which drops the ride height even more above 35 mph but it's very soft and on bad US roads you will hit bump stops. I routinely see 3.3-3.6 mi/kWh in moderate traffic.

    I’m convinced that EV long distance travel is for people who can afford to purchase multiples hotels 🏨 🏨 and have plenty of time on there hands to enjoy the experience of long trip. Whereas a trip with an engine could take a 12 hour drive an EV will take 2 days and a hotel stay in order to complete. In conclusion if you have the money and time to spend then get an EV otherwise EV is not for the common folk and would not be a wise investment in the long run. Seeing that the EV charging stations are increasing (according to the Department of Energy)
