About Me
My name is Brandon Herrera. I'm the owner and operator of The AK Guy Inc, a 07 Firearm Manufacturer based out of Fayetteville, NC. I also co-own Stark Media Group, and designed the rifle known as the AK-50.

Fun fact. When i was in the Finnish military, i had a RK62 which was unintentionally locked in 2 round bursts when set to single shot. We filmed it in slow motion and for some reason the disconnector only worked on the second round that was fired. Nobody could explain why it did this (parts were all in good shape) but when they changed the fire control system it worked as it should, and i was a little sad.

The son was out hunting with his dog. The BATF was about to raid the house. Dog started barking it was shot, the son taking fire dog getting hit and everything. He starts shooting back they murdered him.
The story I read all those years ago said the mother opened the door stepped into the doorway. She was holding a infant child. The ATF agent shot her (the mother) in the head. This is what I remember about the article. I can't really remember anything but that and a picture of all the guns they put on a table. Maybe more but I remember about 7-10 guns old bolt action, pump shot gun. and maybe one or two that came close to a modern firearm.
Thats why I think red flag laws are going to be a problem.

@Based & Redpilled Department I live in the UK and when I was in primary school I got reported and temporary suspended from the school because they asked us to design a catapult and build a small catapult which was exactly what I did but no apperently its too violent and can insinuate violence in other children (I lived in tidworth and was surrounded by military equipment so I don't know how my catapult was Considerd more violent than the artillery price that was brought into school by the army a couple months later)

there's one restrictions on purchasing blank guns, you have to at least 18y old and if you want to carry it around you pay like 50€ (depends on where you live, for me it's that amount) and get a license "kleiner waffenschein"

Well, to nitpick, doesn't the Oerlikon work by API blowback and not simple blowback?

Trivia: In 60's to 80's Romania, the civilian "Patriotic Guard" was equipped with semi-auto AKs (so they won't be able to compete with military in case of an unrest). Those still had the "auto-sear" in place, as a "safety sear", but they didn't have the middle "Auto" dimple stamped on the metal.
Well, you could still stop the selector manually in that position, and that would be "Auto". To deal with that, the little square tab/flag of the selector (min 13:21), had a piece cut out of the left side it (left arrow in the video), so it would not be ever be able to stop the disconnector from rotating. That way it was safer than the AKs that are sold now in US as semi-auto.
To convert one of those AKs to full auto would require just replacing that selector.
Ah, and yes, those AKs were tightly guarded and controlled, no personal use was allowed. Even the bullets were accounted for and you didn't get more than like 3 at once. That didn't change after +40 years from fall of communism.
As a vet with two tours I gotta tell you most of the time full auto is a waste of ammo and it really doesn't give you much of an advantage . Usually you don't see it in combat . Sometimes we used the bigger guns like 249s to keep the enemy pinned down while calling artillery on them but full auto isn't even required for that . It seems glamorous but if you run out of ammo playing Rambo it could cost you your life

Oh look, the AK’s everybody wants just also happen to be way better than most AK’s available to us, yay
So succinctly you need four things:
1) a full auto/safety sear drilled and pinned
2) a channel cut in the receiver rail for the sear to pass through
3) a "tab" on the carrier to trip the sear
4) a hammer that has a hook/notch on the bottom to accept the sear
This is all very straightforward and amazingly simple. Now out of sheer curiosity I'm going to check my romanian kit build's carrier when I get home and compare it to my Saiga .223.

From a safety standpoint, this is a very good and educational video that you made and it will keep many from getting possibly hurt by trying to modify parts in a ak type device and end up using the tail on the end of the bolt and carrier to hold the hammer back after a paperclip is used to hold the disconnect back and yeah, just how many rounds will be fired before it wears down the tail safety and it fires out of battery/ too soon and it is more force than the normal gas on piston pushing all that steel towards the shooter in a stamped and riveted sheet metal receiver...... I wouldn't want that ripping out the back and hitting a body part. This is a very good safety video.

Great breakdown! I was really curious how it actually works but I didn't know how to go about learning without being put on a list. Maybe I still got put on one anyway xD I was looking up the different pieces and how it actually worked, but I couldn't really understand it on my own. I would have never guessed there's a third axis for the full auto sear or that it's also a safety mechanism to prevent an out-of-battery detonation! Mikhail was a clever guy. Guns are like watches: lots of small pieces all moving in perfect harmony. Very cool to learn about
