Great stuff as always Jeff, always pumped to see your take on a new steed. Hopefully you can at least get a OneUp 180mm in there, might need to be shimmed though.
I have a 2022 superfoxy, the tight corners are hard at the beginning but you get used to it if its super tight I like to do a kind o scandy flick and that helps and also feels steezy, once you get used to it it’s almost as fast as a dh bike basically, I have a medium and I’m 174 cm and the seat post is perfect at pedaling height and it lowers down enough for me, how tall are you?
I chose my Evil Insurgent mx over this after test riding them both(along with other bikes) . This bike is just so hard to turn/corner in and not fun or playful at all. I have so much suspension travel in my Insurgent, plus insane maneuverability and pop! Something this bike doesn't have here.
Nice review, interesting to hear a pro perspective on long geometry. Regarding the seat post: AFAIK OneUp still holds the record on lowest stack (plus adjustability, so it might be the solution here).
Yeah, I could probably have fit a 150mm OneUp post. However, I don't want a 150 post. I want a 200, and about shortest I actually want to deal with would be a 170.
Beautiful bike! I’m a fan a bigger bike, takes more effort to move around and the tight cornering can be tricky. Once you get used to that it’s hard to not to love the stability in the longer wheel base and the speed that they can carry!
Yeah I reckon the One Up Components dropper maybe the go as I had the same problem with a medium Scott Ransom 920 that comes standard with a 150mm dropper ! I fitted a One Up 210 and game changer 👍🤟 Thanks again Jeff for another awsome video ! Cheers 🍻
I could well be missing something here, but isn’t it really obvious that it would feel bigger/longer than a Ripmo, Occam, Ripley etc… they are all trail bikes, some with considerably shorter travel and (obviously) geo. Overall, the Superfoxy is barely any different to any other long travel enduro bike like the Enduro, Firebird, Range etc 🤷🏼♂️ Even the reach isn’t massively longer than most others, especially when you take the shorter stem into consideration. Most of the negatives were focussed on the seat post which is very easy to rectify and that it’s cumbersome on tight corners… like pretty much any comparable Enduro bike would be. It seems like it has been reviewed as and against Trail bikes (Even an SB130 was referenced!) when it is clearly not targeting g that market at all. 🤷🏼♂️
I'm about your height and proportions, and have been riding the Foxy XR Medium. Brilliant bike and probably the best pedalling bike I've ever tried. However I've also had the same complaint - the seatpost insertion, with Max dropper lenght of 150mm for a 175cm bloke. I've eventually learned how to work around it and it was kinda fine even on the super steef stuff that I usually ride. Tried the one-up components, but 170 didn't fit me fully extended even with clipless cleat spacers to increase the standing height, so IME it's 150mm tops. Eventually sold the bike, and now got a bike with 170/180mm of dropper insertion - night and day difference in out-of-saddle comfort. Also the rear linkage really likes to collect dirt a lot. There is a little notch that allows the dirt to eventually move in and gather inside the lower link (it's semi-hollow) increasing bearing service intervals (twice a year in my case). Finally, the bushing has a lot of rotation going and wears out rather quick. With all that together, In my experience, this bike is not the most wet-weather friendly. Setup-wise, I've found a bit of lsc, 35% sag with 0.6 spacer and 150psi worked brilliant for the rear shock (dpx2)
Jeff, you mention the Super Foxy is huge compared to the Ripmo. According to the geometry charts the Ripmo is 1219mm wheelbase/460mm reach and the Super Foxy is 1230mm wheelbase/470mm reach. Am I missing something? 10mm can't make such a difference that it doesn't fit into corners, can it?
Not a bad idea, would be one less failure point, and the 10 has a bigger battery. The footage I've seen from the 10 is pretty abysmal in the dark forest here in the PNW tho. I'll likely get a 360 camera before buying another gopro, the 7 with the gimbal works so well in the dark, and more importantly, I already own one.
YOU DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YOU FOUND ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY CRAP, I haven't even watched it yet, just saw the title! LOL Best lines on the market in my opinion. I see a lot of bike companies (even local) have copied the solid line from top tube to upper chain stays. Paint wise, they have the best paint scheme. Bummer about the dropper. Great video Jeff!
Thanks for at least the little comparison to the RM Altitude. I finally got to demo the Altitude back in may and it's the best bike I've ever ridden, definitely suits my preference of something stable but also playful, it's a big bike that loves getting airborne. Actually surprised how heavy that Mondraker is, my Ripmo AF weighs 35lbs, for a carbon frame bike that is getting into Guerilla Gravity levels of weight.
I try not to mention bike weight since tires change it so much. I can't ride 800-900 gran EXO casing tires, and the DH casing are 1400 grams a piece. That said, the bike is still lighter than most EWS racers' bikes.
The altitude Absolutely is one of the best bikes ive ever ridden. I owned one for most of 2021 but decided to try something new and i regret selling it, ive been on the hunt for deals for a new one!
Jeff was that Flow or Braille you were on when it was raining? Also curious why you are still running the Karma grip instead of a Hero 9 or 10, the IS on those cameras is as good or better than the Karma with a Hero 7. Great video as always, I love the look of that frame.
Honest I have a 153 with a Cascade link. Full 29..it works don’t get me wrong but-same issue with the seat height. it’s got a small wheel in the back now. I’m a fan of sometimes really messing with the geo. But my head angle was 66 before. Just a sled now. No megneg
Hi. I'd just like to say. Fantastic review 👏 I have a foxy r in large and ride mostly natural steep rocky trails. As you say I'm still not used to it a year into riding it. The bike just feels too long unless your going flat out on open ground. It's a pain to flick around and to be honest just feels dull in comparison to my older bikes. I heard you say you've ridden the ripmo af. How does that compare to the foxy as I'm seriously thinking of selling the mondraker and replacing it with a ibis ripmo af with coil shock. I'm after something that's easier to manoeuvre through the steep tight trees and something that's more fun and poppy. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated on this
I dont want to be a smartass but i havnt seen anything where dh casing is needed... you can easily save 400-600grams on the wheels switching to exo or exo+ casing.
Oneup v2 are the shortest iirc and I think the new Fox droppers are shorterish as well. You could also put on a low stack saddle, like the Nukreproof Horizon Enduro. I think WTB has some as well.
@Jeff Kendall-Weed , hey mate what size bike did you ride ?? I normally ride a Medium and I’m 5’10” and 194 pounds with a reach between 440-460 preferably ! With the Mondraker specs I small would fit me 🤔 I’m in Oz and good mate just bought an aluminium one but came with the Ohlins forks & shocks , potty yours didn’t as I’d love your review on the complete same set up 🤔 Love your videos , keep up the awsome work man 👍 Cheers 🍻
Hey Archie thanks for the note! I'm 174cm and this is a size medium. Every bike that's been on the channel since 2018 has been a medium, and that will likely continue. This bike did have an Ohlins shock, which I really enjoyed. I did videos about the TTX shock and also about the fork. I do prefer the 38 ever so slightly over the TTX fork I reviewed, but lately put the Ohlins fork on the Ripmo and it's been fine. ua-cam.com/video/4cumdN13mFM/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/b656nxDwBRk/v-deo.html
If you haven't put some serious time on CODE RSC, you should. Theres way more between the R and RSC than the name implies, namely quality and material of the pistons in the caliper. Getting contact point adjust dialed in is huge too though. I love my RSC. Code R are always super inconsistent and seem low quality every time I've ridden them.
I agree, my Code RSC's are AMAZING (after bleeding them myself). I run XT's on my other bike (and my previous bike as well) and like them a lot, but they the Codes are just more powerful and slightly better overall based on how I like my brakes to feel.
I used to have a Dune. Great bike but the dropper insertion depth was annoying. A One Up dropper improved things though as it’s got a shorter insertion depth compared to most posts. Hope it works out for you.
Cheers Dave! I need to try your BBQ. Yeah, I could probably have fit a 150mm OneUp post. However, I don't want a 150 post. I want a 200, and about shortest I actually want to deal with would be a 170.
Thanks Nick! In the next video I'll talk more about the suspension. But I did find it to pedal pretty dang well! If I had good energy and pace, it pedaled great. But once I was tired out, I wasn't having such a good time. I think that has a lot more to do with the geometry than the suspension. On such a short travel bike (only 160mm), the suspension differences between the various brands isn't as significant as the geometry differences.
Wait, wait, wait..... did you say it comes with only a 125mm dropper?! And because of the frame design you can't fit a longer one?! Pass. I'll spend my $$$ on a Transition or similar and run a 180mm dropper no problem.
Yeah, I could probably have fit a 150mm OneUp post. However, I don't want a 150 post. I want a 200, and about shortest I actually want to deal with would be a 170.
Hey Bryce, I was there 2003-2008. Back then, it was totally kosher to ride Tower trail, so I'd do 2 laps on it a few times a week. I also LOVED riding TV Tower road stuff- the usual loops up there. If you look waaaaay back on my channel, you'll find a SLO shredit that we filmed in 2004!
Hi Jeff, great video again. I’m expriencing something similar, comming from YT Jeffsy to Norco Sight. The difference in the lenght of the bikes is quite big and I’m still not quite used to that. Still have the internal battle, whether I like the Sight or not so much. Have you ever had a chance to ride one?
Hey Jeff, I’m 6’0, and happen to have a Foxy (160/150) size medium. Best solution I found was a fox transfer 150mm. Anything with more travel, slammed as low as it could in the seat post, was too tall for me. I found around 150mm to be the optimal length given the amount that would be wasted with a longer post and shimming down.
Thanks for sharing Jesse! I had 178mm of insertable depth in the seat tube of the medium Super Foxy before the pivot got in the way. The OneUp at 150mm would possibly have fit, the Transfer would be too long for me at 5'8" to have my correct pedaling height, but I'd still prefer more than 150mm of drop- at least 170mm. Ironically, I have a Pivot Firebird here, also size medium, and it swallowed up my normal 200mm drop no problem.
great video!, I know how you initiate all those tricks, I just don't know you land 'em all and make it look so easy the ! max kudo to the camera person!
Great stuff as always Jeff, always pumped to see your take on a new steed. Hopefully you can at least get a OneUp 180mm in there, might need to be shimmed though.
What a trails. That’s got to be so nice to have them in ur neighborhood
Had a Mondraker Dune XR in 2018 and man that bike is STILL my favorite bike, was gonna get a foxy in 2021 but ended up getting a Commencal Clash
Had one and never got along with the front end. Now I’m on a gt forced and it’s way more confident inspiring for me.
I chose my Evil Insurgent mx over this after test riding them both(along with other bikes) . This bike is just so hard to turn/corner in and not fun or playful at all. I have so much suspension travel in my Insurgent, plus insane maneuverability and pop! Something this bike doesn't have here.

Great video as usual. Would love to see you give a Transition Spur ago.
Thanks Rob, yeah, the Spur looks fun!
Beautiful bike! I’m a fan a bigger bike, takes more effort to move around and the tight cornering can be tricky. Once you get used to that it’s hard to not to love the stability in the longer wheel base and the speed that they can carry!
I love checking out bikes that i cant afford & not available in my country.😂
Fair enough Slide!
Yeah I reckon the One Up Components dropper maybe the go as I had the same problem with a medium Scott Ransom 920 that comes standard with a 150mm dropper !
I fitted a One Up 210 and game changer 👍🤟

The geo chart I looked at said 1245 wheelbase but I’d bet the 445 chain stays make a big difference in how the bike feels
Try Gopro 10 again, lose the gimbal.

Jeff can you do a review on the Trek Slash? You're the only guy i trust when it comes to reviews in MTB
Sounds like you should buy a trek slash 😄
Jeff was that Flow or Braille you were on when it was raining? Also curious why you are still running the Karma grip instead of a Hero 9 or 10, the IS on those cameras is as good or better than the Karma with a Hero 7. Great video as always, I love the look of that frame.
I can only recognize those trails when they are dusty and blown out.
is there a sigificant difference to the foxy r?
Such a good dude. He's trying his nicest way to say this bike is a complete 180 from my wheelhouse. Oh well, that's a good thing. Happy Trails.
Honest I have a 153 with a Cascade link. Full 29..it works don’t get me wrong but-same issue with the seat height. it’s got a small wheel in the back now. I’m a fan of sometimes really messing with the geo. But my head angle was 66 before. Just a sled now. No megneg

How would the bike feel after nibbling on a few of those delicious looking mushrooms you zoomed in on?
This is out of context, but Jeff looks and sounds like Phil not in a bad way 👍
This video is right on time for me as I just got a revel rail 29 coming off a yeti sb115 lol
Oneup v2 are the shortest iirc and I think the new Fox droppers are shorterish as well. You could also put on a low stack saddle, like the Nukreproof Horizon Enduro. I think WTB has some as well.
my friend put a longer fox on it... to make it even more agressive... that man is nuts
That frame is so pretty, I'd have to get the fork lowers painted to match. *edit* My money is on the OneUp giving the max travel for space used.
When i watched this video at 144p Quality your face sometimes looked like Leonardo Dispacito🤣
bad youtube (Auto Quality recomendation)
Why thank you!

Out of curiosity, what ride nine setting are you running on your altitude?
Would you ever review the Transition Spire?

It’s just the levers the pistons are the same

A couple years ago watching this I'd think "ehhh those jumps look fun but they're way too big for me". Now I just wish I was hitting them!
Right on Andrew!
I would really like to see you try the transition patrol.
I used to have a Dune. Great bike but the dropper insertion depth was annoying. A One Up dropper improved things though as it’s got a shorter insertion depth compared to most posts. Hope it works out for you.

Take a few laps on Hannah's sentinel!!!!
Great review Jeff. My instincts tell me I will not like this bike but I just love looking at it. How is the peddling efficiency compared to the Ripmo

Tire pressure is everything on the foxy
Love for you to test a Nukeproof Mega!!!
Wait, wait, wait..... did you say it comes with only a 125mm dropper?! And because of the frame design you can't fit a longer one?!
Pass. I'll spend my $$$ on a Transition or similar and run a 180mm dropper no problem.
I believe the one up dropper v2 has the shortest insertion length out of all, maybe give em a try
Yeah, I could probably have fit a 150mm OneUp post. However, I don't want a 150 post. I want a 200, and about shortest I actually want to deal with would be a 170.
Yo as a current Cal Poly Student, what was your favorite trail here?

Let’s talk about that KTM in the garage….👀
Stay tuned, working on some trip videos!
Hi Jeff, great video again. I’m expriencing something similar, comming from YT Jeffsy to Norco Sight. The difference in the lenght of the bikes is quite big and I’m still not quite used to that. Norco Sight is a great bike! Here's my video about it: ua-cam.com/video/m9-xjfKRiuk/v-deo.html
I must have missed that one! Thanks
Hey Jeff,

I’m 5.11 and was going to get the large. Why at 6ft did you get medium? Any regrets to get large?
great video!, I know how you initiate all those tricks, I just don't know you land 'em all and make it look so easy the ! max kudo to the camera person!
also really appreciate all the set up/ build why's and how's details!!
Thanks DD! Glad you enjoyed it!
What pedals do you use?
What’s this new shop?
rippin the mondraker like youre brook macdonald
Thanks Michael!
Love the way you ride!
Would love to see a review of a Guerilla Gravity
One day! I met those guys a couple years ago, super cool to see what they are up to!
Do you normally ride 29 inch?
Yep.
That bike is super foxy...
Hahahaha!
Is that a 890 KTM?
You Betcha! Travel videos incoming... once it stops raining so much!!!
Watch out for Dogmen
Will proceed with caution?
If everything goes eerily quiet and you feel you're being watched, it's time to hightail it. Good luck and God speed!
Duly noted, thank you for your kind concern!
Also making your seat more flat propably gets you more space - worked for me.
any plans on getting on a Transition in the future?
