these underhook series are so helpful, you are doing an amazing work! I am always wondering if their intention with the directionality of the throw-by is to throw them to the opposite side of the underhook or if they are looking to snap them forward and down like a russian tie snap down. I remember a Mark Perry´s dvd on the iranian underhook series where he teaches the "whip over" when the opponent is reacting to the push out by pushing back, so this is the perfect moment to throw the opponent forward. Another thing i´ve noticed from your underhook throw by studies is the "underhook punch" that goes hand in hand with the contort motion: iranians and russians just seem to get the elbow high when rotating the body, keeping the grip on the opponent´s shoulder/lat while americans tend to do a big motion with the arm, like throwing a baseball. I do know if i´m right, but this is at least what i´ve seen. Thank you a lot!
@@DPSBreakdowns Definitely will, I’m a big fan of Iranian wrestling, most of my take downs come off an under hook. This video was perfect to add another thing to my arsenal. Thank you again your one of the best on UA-cam.
What would be the best timing to go for a throw-by? Sometimes i feel like my opponent is heavy on the side of my underhook, tough to move him. Thanks a lot for the video! Awesome!
In an ideal world you'll hit it when the opponent is driving in (which provides extra momentum), but you can certainly hit it against a still opponent as well. Try playing around with your head on the opposite side of the underhook and your grip on their lat (not the shoulder). Make sure you keep your elbow flared out and you can even hip into the underhook side for a little extra support. These adjustments will make it harder for the opponent to bite down with an overhook and weaken your underhook.
I’ve been working the leg scoop- seems a bit similar to a navy finish from single? I’d like to learn more about finishing it- any suggestions? Absolutely freaking great video!
Thank you for the next couple of months I'm gonna try and implement this system into my no-gi takedowns.
Yea this is really good no gi Bjj technique id imagine. So many wrestling takedowns compromise your neck. This one obviously not one of them lol
Let me know how it goes.
Yep for sure. As a BJJ guy with neck issues I love working attacks off the underhook
Same dude! I live by the underhook when going for takedowns, I even feel like there's some room to work hip throws into this
@@DPSBreakdowns Emamis underhook is very different from Sadulaevs. Sadulaevs just go behind yhe the opponent
Excellent breakdown. Very concise explanations on many of the subtleties of this Iranian Series.
Good vid. You should cover John Smith’s low single sometime!
Yes please
I’ve learned so much from this channel that I’ve directly applied to my game and consistently hit on people. Thank you so much for this
