Holy moly! i discovered this wrestler through your videos. I have now watched some of his freestyle matches at the international level and i can just say that he hast just the style i want to get good at. He basically works underhook, double underhooks, over/unders and some tricky duck unders and slide-bys every now and then. This, in combination with the use of foot trips, make him like a perfect blueprint for a style that resembles a child of greco with judo :) I'm not sure how far he can gets with it, but for a hobbyist like me, it's nice to have some wrestler with this type of game to study. Thank you!
Yeah I was thinking that this would be good technique to show young wrestlers since they have such a hard time getting to the legs at first. A lot of little kids struggle in the clinch position. He constantly pivots with his underhook looks like he could setup the knee pick like Yazdani.
After I watched this and some of your other under hook break downs I started protecting my body lock and other under takedowns and this shit op, just went to my first summer tournament and tore that shit up. Thanks for the great videos
Further demonstrates how American wrestlers are not as well rounded as other countries, particularly those from the old Soviet system that encourages cross-training of grappling arts, as some of our top guys are ill-prepared to deal with upper body techniques. Really, other than Dake, which of our freestyle team members are comfortable throwing in that position?
@@Pastoralists777 but still the foreigner wrestlers seem to put more emphasis on grappling techniques blending them better compared to American wrestlers
Great vid but I have a few questions 1. Can you do the front uchi mata effectively if you can’t suck them in well (they’re pushing their hips back)? 2. Would you ever do the front uchi mata with your heel instead of your knee (like the Saitiev whizzer kick)? 3. What do you do if you have an underhook and they whizzer down as hard as they can?
Pretty heavily dependent upon the wrestlers desire to exchange forward pressure. For bjj/mm guys who are constantly playing the avoidance game it’s better to use double unders to step in front for a trip and then lift to dump back.
Once you have double unders the opponents reaction will always be to pull their hips back. You have to go at angles to threaten trips and off balances to set up your lifts. 2. You can do a million things 3. If someone has good double overs you are playing with fire. It can be a 50/50 position. What I do is I pull the body lock really tight and try to flare my elbows. Usually someone that has a strong double over will want to try a trip or throw. I wait for that and use it to counter with my own throw or lift.
Great video, thanks for the upload. It's always great seeing competitors make a distinctive or unconventional style work. Another name for the Front Uchi Mata is Yagura Nage (meaning tower or scaffold throw) which is what it's known by in sumo!
Did this technique yesterday evening. For MMA/BJJ a strong underhook game is golden. Because the worst thing that can happen is having a bodylock or underhook in bottom position. But frontal Uchi Mata describes what you mean, but old school judoka, would call it mor of an ura nage. Wrestlers are notorious for using bad names descrictions for their techniques, in german wrestler call "Kata guruma" "Armpit throw", which is so undescriptive of what you are doing in comparisson of "shoulder wheel".
American wrestlers are trained now to rely less on upper body takedowns and more on leg grabbing (single legs, double legs, ankle picks , etc). Honestly I don’t really know why, a lot of upper body takedowns are high reward/low risk compared to say a single leg which can be high risk (especially if your going against a guy who knows how to spladle)
Hey, I am from Kyrgyzstan myself and it is fun to watch my fellow country men being watched/discussed by Americans. Just so you know, your pronunciation isn't quite correct (not your fault though), so the right way to pronounce the wrrstler's name is Joomashbek, you pronounce the first letters "Zh" like "J" in "Junior". The same goes to another our famous greco world champ Akzhol Makhmudov, pronounced like Akjol Ma(k)hmoodov. You may find Akjol's wrestling even more spectacular. Have a look.
Man, your breakdowns are awesome thank you so much for them 🙏 I was just wondering if you would ever make an MMA wrestling breakdown including some of the goats like khabib, Islam, GSP, DC or any other greats?
Maybe it's just me, but I've seen a lot of KGZ or KZH wrestlers pop up who are really good, and throw a lot from the bodylock (whether it's Freestyle or Greco). In fact, just about a year ago, you released a video about Akzhol Makhmudov's bodylock, and it's pretty much identical technique to this video.
I like this technique because it looks like a hybrid judo wrestling technique the double underhooks from wrestling and the hip twist leg elevation from judo
Hey DPS, im a huge fan of your channel and peoples like your channel, im even a patreon member of yours. However i feel you did Zhumashbek and injustice here by not including his very very high level leg attack defense he showcased in bill farrel. Dont take offense but just my two cents. He did things to defend takedowns id never seen before and ive wrestled my whole life.
Man got the schoolyard bully style

It’s do beautiful to watch

He is so aggressive, but patient

This is like greco roman wrestling vs freestyle wrestling
What a beautiful style of wrestling
I checked him out he's from Kyrgyzstan where great Greco Roman wrestler are coming from a that's what you can see on his fighting style
Awesome analysis👍. And...the background music was hard AF🔥

We know how to get back up and break down an opponent not a lot of foreigners know how to do that

That's cause the folkstyle they practice is belt wrestling which mainly focuses on ura nage and front uchi matas
