I can only imagine that his heart felt too much, but then I suppose mine does as well. Our place in this world is difficult for us to understand. We all have own own times within this world to make of what we can. I think, what I can appropriate the most about Michael, is that he tried as best as he possibly could in his own way.
@Dino Buckhoy really i blame his father. the kid was brought into the spotlight too early. he was on ed sullivan when he was 5. thats why he enjoyed the company of children. it allowed him to have a childhood he never had. and if its true what they say about him, that was probably because of his childhood too.
As a child of the 70's, this was standard viewing in the Michigan Public Schools during free time shown on a reel to reel projector. I am 45 years old and am really enjoying this.
Every time I see something Michael did, it reminds me of what I lost when he died. Phenomenal talent, phenomenal heart. If there's a Heaven, I hope he's there. Thanks, Michael (and thanks Roberta on this track!).
Brought a tear to my eye..... I remember watching this when it aired! Most of all, I remember how sweet and innocent the world was back then. I miss those days dearly.
@@JapBoyee Well, there was a lot of horrible things going on as well. I think now all the negativity that has been plaguing humanity has come to the surface so it can be addressed and cleared. Afterwards, we can all live in a more happier and loving world.
MJ kids need to see this video....so they could realize..they don't have to change at all for people or media...stay strong Paris....still missin" MJ :((
I’m sorry, what? He had them through surrogacy (Debbie Rowe, whom he got married to avoid having children out of wedlock). This means that HIS SPERM was used to artificially inseminate her, which means HE IS THEIR BIOLOGICAL FATHER. And they are not adopted. He didn’t adopt children during his lifetime because he said that it wouldn’t be fair to keep some in his household, knowing there were others suffering and starving out there. If you think about it, it’s true. Thus, stop claiming things you’re not even aware of, please. And know, he is innocent.
When I was a teenager, I saw Michael Jackson all grown up, as his car drove into his hotel. I ran up to the window and banged on it, and MJ smiled. That's a memory that I will hold with me forever.
Yeah, on the film projector in the early-mid 1970's. Finally got the DVD in the late 90's, and I felt like I was 7-8 years old all over again. Miss your magic, Michael.
They rebroadcast this in the mid 80s after Thriller took the world my storm, and that's when I got to see it. It was still as relevant as it was when it was broadcast in the 1970s. Its definitely a gen X childhood staple.
I feel bad for the kids that did not grow up watching Free To Be Me at the end of every year in elementary school. It was literally my favorite part of the year.
I ran into this on You Tube the night before Michael Jackson died. It was the first time I'd seen it since the original airing in 1974 (on my family's black-and-white TV), and I hadn't heard the song in almost as long. So in 2009, I saw/heard this again--and realized for the first time Michael Jackson was in it. Seeing and hearing it again awakened some very old memories. The next day, I thought about this song frequently. And then I came home and saw the headline that Michael Jackson had died.
I was 7. What a great time to be a little kid. All the post hippy flowers, colors and songs. What will kids of today look back on? Explosions and sensory overload?
i loooooove this i was about 7 or 8 i saw it on nicklelodeon i think or pbs and that flute i ended up playing flute all through school elementary middle and highschool and now even -- so these little programs had a very positive affect on kids bring these days back well at least this type of programing
I so remember this! I was 5 years old!!!!! Fantastic!!!! Looking at this, I see that he at 16 or 17 wearing something a 8 or 9 year old wore back then, makes me understand that he didn't want to grow up.
Every time I hear one of these songs from Free to be you and me, i feel like a 5 years old kid again. Michael Jackson was a great talent. Roberta Flack was a wonderful singer. Put them two together and you get a really nice memory.
Imagine singing a song like this during a period in which your own father makes fun of your appearance. Maybe this was just another gig for Michael Jackson.
As I rewatch this I remember something Jermaine said about Michael in his book "You are not alone". He said that many described Michael as a child with an old soul. He said Michael was always a great mimic. You can see this in this video as does an impression of Groucho Marx. He does at the beginning when he sings "Will I be big and strong". & continues to do this through out the song.
I was born in 1975 and never heard this song until Michael Jackson passed away. I quickly fell in love with the song and encouraging lyrics. I have yet to be able to find this song to buy and put on my phone. The only one I can find it without Michael Jackson and of course it isn't the same without his lovely voice.
The young boy in this video released the album "Thriller" about 10 years later, collaborating with the likes of Quincy Jones, Eddie Van Halen, and Paul McCartney among others
Awwwww Michael was so adorable... May he rest in peace.
Jalae Cobb rip
Jalae Cobb I'm screaming at how tall he is

That Michael Jackson
Freezing cold take
'Will I be on the moon?'
Well, no. You did the moonwalk though, which is close enough.
Both. Both is good.
he bought the moon down to us and just walked it all the way back to the universe so id say he went full circle
My new favorite Michael Jackson song
Will I be on the moon
That means you knew you invent the moonwalk
How beautiful
He looks so adorable then and until the day he leave us
@@mjartgallery1958 No? The moonwalk has been around since the 1940s
She was 36 he was 16 but this is so sweet and pure. It's beautiful.
Finding rare Michael vids is a blessing
And so is finding rare Roberta video!
He never did change at all..he remained the same child like spirit unaffected by adult corruption
Truth!
VERY TRUE!
Oh, he was effected. God rest his soul... he was just short changed bt this cruel, cruel world.
If the world believed all those lies about MICHAEL JACKSON, well then maybe the world doesn't deserve MICHAEL JACKSON ?

@@gradeacontent-o1751 the sad part about it is I think you're right
yep. humans deserve nothing good
As much as I love the Diana Ross version, NOTHING beats the Jackson-Flack harmony on the chorus.
Yes totally agree 👍👍!😊
That's just Michael he always does things and is the better version. Like when he remade come together.
Flack is the original Queen of Harmony.

Your comment is awesome and 😭😭😭emotional too😭😭😭😭😭.

A timeless message from Michael Jackson. "We don't have to change at all."
And he sure as hell didn’t, I wish I could’ve gone to his house as a kid
Gosh Michael is everything. My everything.
Who the heck gave this a thumbs down?
