The Jacksons (Michael, Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Randy, LaToya, Janet) participated in the Rock 'n' Roll Sports Classic (May 3rd, 1978), an ABC special that pitted music stars against one another in a series of athletic events. Michael participated in the men's 60-meter dash (placing 6th / eight) and in the swim relay and the tug o' war, with his team winning each of these events, as well as the overall competition.
Participants included: Boston, The Commodores, ELO, Gladys Knight and the Pips, The Jacksons, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Runaways, Seals & Crofts, Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Jr., Rod Stewart, The Runaways, Kenny Loggins, Tanya Tucker, and Leif Garrett.

Nah you can’t tell me Mike wasn’t GONE when he was swimming lol. He had some athletic ability. It looked like he came in third or fourth during the race so he wasn’t a bad athlete.

Yes, afro textured hair soaks up water like a sponge. Water basically glides off straight hair.
The Jacksons had an advantage considering they were the youngest and probably in the best shape of the participants.

KPOP has this Sport Event also , I'm pretty sure this sports event was their inspiration in making their own Kpop version.

@@GalaxyNexus1 thanks. ExactlyI was born in 77 and things still looked like this for a while because culture takes a while to catch up to celebrities.... So it was later for us when things got to neon colors and perms and stuff. My sister still had feathered hair and everyone still wore those shirts with white piping and tube socks. It is so nice to be defended by a logical stranger. Thanks so much!
