@@brandoncorona9312 He didn’t. It’s been proven in the court that the acusers lied. I don’t think anyone without an innocent heart can sing this song with such joy.
I was 6 years old when this was released. 50 years later this is still my go to song when I'm feeling down. It always makes me smile. Thanks Michael, Roberta and Marlo :)
He was such a cute kid. Just couldn’t let his face be. Getting out alive after being a child Star is very tough. RIP Michael... you gave up so much if your childhood so that so many of us could enjoy ours more.
This breaks my heart to watch.... Michael was so dang talented and I loved watching him in this. I wish he would've listened to the message of this song. He didn't need to change at all....
Naw he didn't because he was already youthful, being a believer in Jesus Christ keeps you youthful as Michael believed and he was youthful :DDDDDDDDD Jesus Christ said that you have to be childlike to enter the kingdom of God and this is what Michael was and anyone could befriend kids NO matter what their age just for you to know! :DDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Michael is just so cute and beautiful here!!!! His voice is so heavenly and sweet!!! Love him so much!!!! And love this duet he did with Roberta Flack!!! It's so cute and sweet!!! It's one of my favorites!!! :DDDDDDDDDDDDDD
P.s. it saddens me to read some of the comments here. This is a children's video and I don't understand why so.much hate and trash talk on here. BE THE DIFFERENCE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.
If life was just innocent like hearing this old time classic. That right don't change who you're because of other. Find what make u happy and enjoy your life because God created us all different and lovely. God bless😃
Michael is soooooo cute!!! He was always beautiful...I just wish he felt that way about himself..He's father should be ashamed of himself for making fun of Michaels looks when he was younger...Michael was beautiful as a child, teenager or adult. r.i.p MJ, I hope your finally at peace.
monicawism, okay, maybe his Dad was wrong, but didn't we, his fans, contribute to MJ' s ultimate fate? We take people like Michael Jackson and place them on pedastools and we obsess over everything they do, everywhere they go, even who they're married to. The 24 hour news and the internet doesn't help either. MJ s fate is our fault His dad nay have made fun of him as a kid, but we sure as neck pushed our expectations and our image of him in his face. We do it to every well known person.
The message of this song is important. You are perfect as you are. Nowadays kids want to change their identities instead of accepting their natural selves.
I love Rosie Greer singing "It's Alright to Cry". My son's grew up singing it. It helped them handle their feelings. And just now,I sent it to my grandbaby Veronica Rose!
This takes me right back to my childhood. I had the book that I read over and over. Then I got the album that I listened to over and over (usually while reading the book), but I grew up without a VCR until I was a teenager and so didn't get to watch the movies over and over so it's like meeting an old friend but seeing them in a new light.
Hadn't seen this the late 70's. We had to watch this at the Boys Club to help teach us about...life , being different, being yourself being sensitive and accepting others as they are. This video brought back some fond memories. You got a 44 year old man over here almost in tears. Thank you so much for sharing this..
I saw this film from 1978 - 1980 in health classes. I loved it so much that I bought the vinyl LP, and I own it to this day. Perhaps we don’t see “the Land Marlo saw” yet, but many of us have been looking for it. If it’s out there...we’ll find it.
This makes me sooooo happy, thank you for uploading this! I feel like a 5 year old in heaven again, listening to the "Free to Be,You and Me" videos. The best part is sharing them with my 2 year old so that he,too, can feel the magic in these songs. Thank you.kindly!!
My dad use to work for Michael Jackson in the 90s and I met Michael when I was only three. I don’t remember much . I never knew how famous he was until I got older wish I was a lot older during that time though :(
Why former flute player? I picked a decent enough one up from Amazon for pretty cheap last year. I hadn't played since high school over 26 years ago. It was kinda like riding a bike! I still remembered the fingerings for most of the notes and the few i forgot I looked up. Stull had a few songs memorized too amazingly! Edit for spelling.
Can't help but feel a little wistful hearing this, as I'm sure most Gen Xers who watched this, or heard the Diana Ross version on the free to be you and me record as kids. A part of me wishes we never did change at all.
My GF is watching a Sex and the City marathon. The episode where Carrie and Stanford attend a baby shower and Stanford buys this for the baby. Had no idea it existed and and no idea so many celebrities were involved in the album.
I remember every song and have the original Free to be me album. Very sentimental to me and my daughter! Lost my hearing at 28 and became a nationally recognized advocate. No captions for Michael Jackson or any so far. Sad.
Marlo Thomas, make it happen!! This single is only available with Diana Ross singing. Can't we get the MJ/Flack version out there? No offense to Diana Ross, but MJ was so special and this song captures all that he stood for!
There seems to be even more foreshadowing than that. Case in point, MJ singing, "will I be on the moon?" "Will I wear trousers twice as long?" And they're singing about not changing at all. Well MJ did later walk on the moon, in a different sense anyway, when he "moonwalked". His trousers actually got shorter later on. And last but not least, he CHANGED his outer appearance.
Roberta is pretty, and Michael grew up to be tall, or least average height which is good, he also grew up to be handsome at age 17+. I love you Michael
change is good sometimes but letting others to make you feel like you gotta see the world their way is wrong. even when it's not your fault ^_^ ! ! ! ! !
I wish the world had not broken you, Michael.

We all got it coming?

It makes me sad seeing Michael Jackson. He was so beautiful and always seemed so happy and he "didn't want to change at all".

Michael 🥺🥰💜
He passed away 15 years ago?
Here in 1974 Roberta Flack fresh off her winning the Grammy award for killing me softly and Michael Jackson before he became the king of pop.
I so wish Michael had believed the words he sang in this song! And Roberta Flack was just great. They're voices blended beautifully.
He didn't practice what he sang.

Too true
I think part the problem was that he actually tried to hard to stay a kid and befriend kids.

When it was released in 1975 it was very controversial. The church, n tv censors were not happy with the messages. Crazy I know.
I loved this movie in school.
Me too...I was a grown man when I realized that was Roberta flack
this brings back so many memories
I remember this too....still think about the tune every now and then. I wonder if Roberta Flack thought about this the first time she heard he died...
What everyone needs right now is a hug and to watch this entire movie.
Saw this movie in school on a giant school film reel in the mid-70s...I never forgot it!!
This is perfect on every level.
I want the 70 to be back . Even tho I wasn't born then but still.
