This Keyboard Was Good Enough For Batman... Logitech diNovo Edge

Поділитися
Вставка
  • Опубліковано 16 лют 2022
  • The Logitech diNovo Edge keyboard checked all the boxes, sleek, sexy, wireless, and a built-in mouse to boot. It looked so good that it was used in movie after movie including Batman: The Dark Night. After it was featured in the movie Logitech released a very limited TDK version of the diNovo Edge.
    On to the keyboard though. It was laser cut out of plexiglass, only 11mm thick, 3.2mm of key travel, brushed aluminum wrist rest, built-in TouchDisc mouse, and a touch sensitive volume control. One of the coolest features is revealed by hitting the FN key which lights up all the special functions. The diNovo Edge was in a league of it's own for wireless keyboards in 2003.

    Still in my living room, 20 years after. Amazing quality. Changed battery once, around 2010. Still going strong.
    I wish Logitech would make a 2024-edition with upgraded keys.

    Throwback lol. I've had my DiNovo Edge since 2004 and I've been using it literally every single day since then. I typically still get over a month's worth of battery life even still. Best keyboard ever made in my opinion.

      Absolutely, mine is i guess around 15-16 years now, works like a charm. I broke the plegsi a little bit so was looking a while ago if there is another keyboard like this, but Logitech seems to have abandoned the perfect stroke system which is a shame. I`ve not used a better feeling keyboard than this one

    This was also from the same timeframe as the HP Scanjet 4600 scanner... the "see-through" scanner. It had a little stand like this keyboard and was really cool to watch when it was running. We need cool tech like this again.

    Still have mine, probably almost 20 years old. Had it for a couple of years in a drawer unused and when I pulled it out it was still pretty good charged, the battery is still like new. I wouldn't buy a that expensive keyboard anymore but this is was really top quality that lasts and is basically like new after 20 years.
    On a side note, I had no issues connecting with a built in Bluetooth receiver and for me also the scrolling works fine with the circular touch area.

    • @3sty216
      @3sty216 2 роки тому

      I think it just needs some mechanical switches on it than backlighting. In itself it already looks sleek and even on par with apple magic keyboards when it comes to aesthetics, but I wouldn't say that it will be the best board to type on since it uses rubber domes

    Just to update this video for anyone who may have lost the dongle!
    It is possible to connect this KB to BT!
    Holding the pairing button behind the top of the KB will put it into BT pairing mode. You’ll find it in your Bluetooth devices, then select it. Enter the pairing ID number on the keyboard and press Enter. It will pair 🎉

    I found one of these at e-waste a few years ago. Absolutely beautiful, I'd always wanted one. Pulled it out today to set it up in my home theatre but I forgot I found it with no dongle or charger station. I'm sure I could get the charger on eBay but wouldn't have a clue about the dongle. I'm sure they'd be different frequencies across the model. Hey great video mate, thanks!

    You don't need the USB dongle to connect the DiNovo Edge to a modern PC. You can use just about any Bluetooth connection your PC has (or something like one of the Logitech Unifying Bluetooth Receivers). You go to Devices and Printers, click the Add Device button (with your DiNovo Edge in connect mode) and click the DeNovo Edge when it shows up on your PC. It will give you a code. You type that code on your DiNovo Edge and hit enter. Done. ;)

    ive owned this key bored since high school with my first computer set up when i was only making 8.75 a hr working at a gas station i loved it when i first saw it way back in the day
    i worked my ass off for this, logitech has never made another keybord like this ever since i looked over the years they just make mediocre keybords nowadays
    currently typing this review with my dinovo edge that i just got out of the basement i thought my mom threw it out i cant tell u how good it feels to type on my old set up
    brings me back when i was in high school doing home work on my old computer,
    tp type on this is so satisfying your fingers just glide over good key response and everything still works perfectly fine after all these years only issue with this
    i wish the track pad was much bigger other then that this dinovo edge still slays after all these years

    I can see it now - the year is 2040, mechanical keyboards are pretty much the standard for typing. Even your generic cheap Dell prebuilts come with some kind of mechanical switch. All the young 20-ish guys with their first jobs out of college start getting nostalgic for a keyboard that stopped existing in the mid 2020's where they key sat on a rubber dome. They remember their dad had one and missed the soft feeling of the key press and the silent actuation. Rubber dome keyboards make a comeback and the rubber dome keyboards from the 2000's start going on Ebay for hundreds of dollars.

    • @3sty216
      @3sty216 2 роки тому

      Rubber dones would most likely come back in a way that it'd imitate topres than membranes themselves. They could sell as novelty but I highly doubt that most of those collectors would use it as a daily driver

    My buddy has a ton of those small HTPC boxes because he builds computers and networks etc professionally. I always help him scrap trade in boxes for parts and he always gives me decent leftovers and actually built me a Ryzen 3900x 12 core box plus some extra money for upgrades I wanted for helping him over time. I don't know if he had one of those keyboards but he always has the latest and greatest goodies to play with.
    I probably would hate the feel of the keys too but has a HTPC keyboard it would be awesome.
    I have a low profile HTPC case here he gave me because I thought it was cool but I never put any in it though I have plenty of parts to do it. I run Plex and a few Silicondust tuners and it's networked all over the house so not sure it's needed anymore.

    I may have seen one at my local Goodwill. I may go look again. My daily driver is an IBM Model M. A workhorse, and LOUD. lol I have a not-so-loud hitachi with Alps keys. and an old Actual Alps Mac keyboard with built-in track-pad. I bought a ADB to USB adaptor cube thing, that only works with the apple full-size extended keyboard. I need to probably find a Griffin iMate adaptor to get the Alps working. The Blue & White G3 tower (my first new mac) still had an ADB bus on it and I used the Alps for a long time. Tacticle, but different than the Model M.

    It's annoying when they mess with the 6 cursor control keys. I really like my main keyboard right now despite some of the same messing (it's a Cherry G80 apparently designed for use in a server rack and thus narrower?) putting delete, home, end, etc in weird places, but it takes a really good keyboard for me to forgive that.

      I bought one - works perfect in Win 11. When you first set it up with the Logitech drivers and it pairs you will get prompted to enter a code which you will type from the DiNovo keyboard. BTW you do not need the original USB. Just the keyboard dock and pwr supply cord. It works as if it was manufactured in 2023 and the design build is better than a lot built in 2023.

    Firstly....I didnt know you also did tech reviews! I had a Dinovo edge for years but it got smashed during a move. I then bought Azio Retro keyboard but it died after 2 years (dead keys)_. It damn near took me 2 days of googling 'sleek black keyboard' before an image popped up of my old Dinovo Edge and off to Ebay I went. Cant wait for it to show up and I can quit copiny and pasting the letter "A" on this stupid Azio.

    Had mine over a decade finally packing up. I can't find anything good enough to replace it. Gamer thoccy keyboard are tacky as hell. Rgb is not good and keyboards are not supposed to be noisy, sorry. Wish there were more stylish keyboards like this. Gonna have to go second hand when another comes available...
