January 20, 1993.
I miss the 90's. What a time to be alive!
I am literally obsessed with Natalie. Not like stalker obsessed but law abiding citizen obsessed 😁
You are inlove. Just like me.
You and every other red blooded male in the known universe. She has a unique and exotic beauty & stage persona that makes people cry with happiness.
I know what you mean. I had to check to see if I had written this.
Me too
To this friggin day. Still gives me those soul shivers.
1993 was a really great world to be in and it's difficult to watch this and not feel a great deal of loss. Beautiful Natalie is now 60, as am I. I have an April 2024 concert ticket to see her. I'm really looking forward, which is what I need to do in general.🎉
I really understand what you're saying. I tend to live in the past myself. It was a good time, but it's important to remember it wasn't perfect either. But people sure seemed to care about each other much more. Take care and have fun at concert.
Saw her in Dublin a few months ago. Great show. Jealous you have it to look forward to
I'm 60 also and saw this the day it happened. I feel a lot the same way. It brings tears to my eyes to see so much, love and enthusiasm between Nataile and Michael and the whole audience, etc.🌿
I wish she cut her hair to the length in this video, with some gray hair, it would be still cute and elegant.
Yes, I know, I feel a great deal of loss... the 90's was my favorite decade, joyous and happy. I am 66 yo. Have great concert in April.
Natalie's dancing just makes me smile ... what a talent, her voice, her beauty ... WOW !
Love her..Michael Stipe..REM
thank you... was about to say that
She is definitely extraterrestrial. So hot. My God.
I miss this band SO MUCH!!!! 😕 Natalie and 10000 Maniacs were AMAZING!!! 👍👍😎✌️
@@lorettamurphy7119 They had a thing for awhile ... you know that right ?
Oh how I would love to go back in time to here. Pause, regroup, and move forward knowing what I know now.
Natalie is OUT of this world... gorgeous, talented, enchanting...
Michael and Natalie - they both completely owned this with energy and vocals, presence and partnership. Watching them dance together was the cutest thing.
Natalie was as dazzling and charismatic as any bright star ever.
still Watching this in 2022… Merchant. Stipes. Icons. Legends.
This makes me cry every time... especially now. We were all so happy. :(
Kimber Mitchell that is so beautifully said. We WERE happy-genuinely happy-that night more than we had been in the previous 12-years. But now....it has gotten darker. A lot darker.
YES!
Yes, I miss the 90s good vibes.
@Merrick Vance Totally appropriate place for this comment. Wtf?
You will be happy again
Such a classy ,beautiful woman and amazing talent .
I saw her on the sidewalk by Izzy`s Deli in Santa Monica and she smiled at me. It made my day .
That's a lyric
What a duet, huh? Those voices.
Definitely the happiest Natalie of any Maniacs video.
natalie was feeling it that night. Nice to see her put her hair down and let loose.
The band is firing on all cylinders. Natalie and Michael are so happy. Miss these days, but will remember. Upbeat during the pandemic. 5/18/20. (Love her head flip accent with the cymbal crash at 2:57. )
Natalie and Michael Together..So much Love..😍😍
Michael Stipe..😍😍😍😍
What an orchestra..😍🙏
Two of the greatest voices in music over the last 40 years. They both sound amazing live and in studio recordings.
"These are Days" gives me chills, especially live by Natalie. One of the best songs of all time, easily. Amazing and beautiful
I really love Stockton Gala Days!
Have to agree. Song brings back very emotional memories
@@scottward6974 my 2nd favorite ehind These Days
@@scottward6974 The whole album is amazing. I love the song Noah's Dove also.
Natalie's dancing is insanely Cool ...
She was so amazing to watch back in those days! So I'll share a couple of memories, I first saw her at the channel in Boston with the maniacs and she was spinning on the stage like a whirling dervish the whole time! That was when she was younger and her hair was still long and it was flying all over the place!!
But I want to see a very special concert, and it would have been in the early summer of 92 or more likly 93, in a very small club in Bearsville New York, and the 10,000 Maniacs were busy rehearsing on their new album not too far away in the church. So this was a pop-up concert done just so they could rehearse some of the new material, and it was for a small audience.
I could go on and on about how enchanting she was to actually see in person only 10 ft for me, so intimate. In between the songs (some of which were not yet recorded) she was talking about her garden, and what kinds of lettuce she had planted!
But what I really wanted to share was that as I was sitting in my seat my wife pointed out to me a couple a few sests over and said, "hey, isnt that guy in REM?"
Sure enough, it was Mike Mills, and then during a break i ended up chatting with Peter Buck about politics over a beer in the lobby. It seems REM was with them in their studio nearby adding some things to the new record.
Never saw Michael, he was most likly keeping a lower profile or backstage.
But such a special day.
Love her so much and she is pretty much ALWAYS like that!!!
Yes, "those were the days"
This was such a hopeful time of change. I was 16 and totally obsessed with Natalie and REM.
Where is this kind of joy in music today?
I agree, not much brings an instant smile and the extreme urge to dance like this does 😁
That is a good question....
in the past....but the past is at least on videos.
Stipe was sure handsome. I believe that they wrote this song for one another.
Not many singers as charismatic ,soulful & enigmatic as Nat !!!❤❤❤ love her !!
I Agree....... Jeffrey Simon... Boston
What a beautiful smile Natalie had.
Has!
It's Sunday morning. My wife and my dog are waiting for me to make them breakfast. I have multiple loads of laundry to do, as well as last nights dishes to wash. But all I want to do is watch Natalie Merchant videos.
It's 1 AM and I'm supposed to finish our taxes...but I'm in the same boat. I just watched this video like a schoolboy with a crush.
Yes!! Indeed!!
Very few performers have the stage presence that Natalie has.
Peak Merchant. That day, that time, that place. No doubt. Perfection.
Especially on light of the present
Especially in light of the present political landscape
And peak Stipe. Whole lot of stars aligned that evening
Agreed , I've watched this performance at leas 100 times over the years. It could be the greatest live performance ever
That first sax players hair is an outrage. Wonderful!
This version of Candy is joyous!
I ache for the 90s
Songs that remind me of the 90s, college days, the best, that nostalgia😂😂
She's seriously stunning and sort of addictive to listen to
Beautiful rendition, To Sir, With Love. They sound great, look great. Natalie is pretty, Michael has class. I guess this is before looking nasty was a thing.
Really? Madonna was around then you know. 😂😂
Voice of my early 20s, thank you Maniacs
If you want to see a person filled with absolute joy, this would be it. Beautiful!
They are having a good time on stage good vibes!
One for the ages. What an incredible performance. The energy wow.
Those two had chemistry for sure!
Well, they were a couple.
@@pablovi77 Isn't he gay?
@@pepper1188 He’s bisexual.
Nothing like being in Athens GA during the 80’s such a great music scene.
‘10,000 Maniacs’? Kind of, not really.
@@ADT2695 - ? Michael Stipe and REM were out of Athens, obviously not 10,000 Maniacs
True of 10,000. However, they co-existed in Athens. Probably playe more in GA more than in NY.@@johnmininger7472
Wish they had these songs on cd. I love these songs and just how Natalie is so vibrant and her smile is extremely contagious. The whole band was amazing, just have to love her dancing. She was my idol in high school. Well still is.
Those last 2 songs are on a a CD. It was a 4 song EP called 10,000 Maniacs Few and Far Between. I have it
I still have this CD too
So much zeitgeist packed into one video.
Natalie you are IT! On the level of ANY unique talents whoever lived. You personify rhythm. Rhythm comes from our SouIs...no place else. I am infatuated....and grateful to be able to appreciate the greatness of your talent and rhythm of you in your prime thru these videos. Within the Infinite we dance together.
Saw them twice for this tour. World Party opened for one of them. Been a huge fan since the mid 80s.
World Party - that sets a real scene for me. Must have been an amazing set of concerts.
As an English man in New York (state) I was visiting my sister who was an au pair over there at the time. I saw 10000 Maniacs when they were supported by World party in Saratoga Springs in 1993. Great set from both. I wore that tour t-shirt adorned with such beautiful Renaissance style imagery with great pride around my home town....surrounded as I was by the ubiquitous half baked heavy metal band black ones, it truly offered contrast 😎
@@MTB_Derbyshirewas it at SPAC (Saratoga Performing Arts Center)? so bummed I was only 6 years old then lol, SPAC has great acoustics!
@@tomdurocher6552 yes that's the place. Great setting really nice venue 😎
The performance of "Candy everybody wants" is just awesome.
Great 🎵 music
A heartwarming artifact from a lost age. To be young again. . .
Natalie’s/10k Maniacs’ songs take me back to a budding friendship I had in 1993 that was so special to me. I hear These Are The Days and it takes me right back.
3:28 Robert Buck R.I.P.
Cant stop watching. Natalie's smile id so infectious. Stunning performance!
How come I have never seen this before?! Superb 👍
So cute!
Great combination!! Her moves are stunning, she really puts it all out there, and Michael Stipe never fails to amaze me.
And we had no idea this was peak USA
Love love love these 2 singing together! Makes me happy ❤️
Thank Mike and Natalie. And of course GOD ALMIGHTY
just perfect, beautiful, awesome, unique, fantastic. Thank you Natalie and Michael!!!!!!

Still listening to Natalie, even during lock down here in the Philippines.
Two beautiful people making beautiful music! Thank you! Xo
Love her voice & love watching her get her groove on !! Totally enjoying herself !❤❤❤
Michael Stype isn't bad either !!!
* Stipe ..
If I could freeze time…I would just repeat 1995 like every other year
talent and class!!
To Sir with Love. Great performance of two of my favorites. Wonder what Natalie thinks of Bill Clinton now.
Any decent, informed person should think Clinton is a criminal, like the rest of the US political establishment defending the American Empire, the two headed monster embodied in the liberal-conservative lie of US politics. But of course, for Natalie and other liberal artists will always be much more comfortable to "pick a side" ...
One of the best song ever!!! Love it!
That was really, really good
This is why i strum my guitar the way i do. Those were the days....
Wow ! rem&natalie merchant what a great perform amazing💯
Michael Stipe is amazing!
Absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing!! God bless Natalie and Michael
Where has the time gone?
Che belli insieme Natalie e Michael!
ICONIC
Such great chemisrty!
Natalie nació para poner su voz entre los sonidos musicales de manera tan naturalmente bella que solo puede resultar un viaje hermoso el escucharla ------ ¡ Viva por siempre Natalie Merchant !
She's a lady, a beauty with an angel voice and an angel heart.
I love you guys
6:55 there is a very special place in Hell for camera directors that miss Natalie and Michael dancing...
Natalie spins her head around so fast that her hair is like a tornado flying around the stage !
Her beauty always gives me butterflies.
Ahh, the Clinton / Gore ticket ‘92. Back when the party was a believably American. Those were the days…
I had that dress in kindergarten ~ mine was purple. Hands down my favorite. 1967.
Indeed, over 30 years ago, as of 2024, when major pop & rock artsists would ACTUALLY "Dress Up" in their "Sunday Best" to perform at such ceremonies, award programs & galas, etc. Now we've traded elegance for uggyness; simply putting it.
Less I not forget the beautiful color richness of the analog video tape & DAT audio recordings with the best AtoD converters possible utilized, without ANY headroom distortion.
That's just my OLD FART opinion, which I sure no one today gives a rotten rat's hoot about. And...that's just fine.
Yes, them were the days.
BolsaChicaRadio
What a voice.
나탈리 머천트, 마이클 스타이프 춤추는거 너무 좋다
I doesn’t get any better than this. Natalie is a goddess.
Not anymore. Even then she was moving into a world of expensive haircuts and clothes, despite lecturing everyone else about what was right and what was wrong.
Amazing video!!!
Excellent video.
Natalie Merchant todo lo que cantas es perfecto.....Natalie Merchant everything you sing is perfect
so much fun!
5:18 OMG, so perfect
I was there that night. Fun times...
I'm in love all over again!
Essa dupla é maravilhosa!!Eternos!!!
I thought they sounded great together on Campfire Song on In My Tribe. I remember watching this on tv that night and being blown away, seeing and hearing them together.
Woww que talento Natalie.. Excelente
