Thank you for posting this. I’m the sax player in the middle and co arranger. We had been doing To Sir With Love on tour but without Michael. We had to change the key at sound check to accommodate him. Natalie and the band did a great job. You were so lucky to be involved in one of the greatest singers of all time!! Natalie Merchant was talented beyond her years! Together with Michael Stripe they were gold. Thank you for your contribution to making beautiful music❤️
To me, Natalie is not only a great singer but is a natural beauty. I thought this in 1995 and still think this in 2020!! Any one else agree with me? I also love the way she dances!
@@jeffkeating5356 You are bang on. Thank you for saying. I onse commented on how beautiful Ana Kasparian (tyt) is and I got a shitload of hatemail. This world is horribly judgemental. I am a musician so she has even more of an effect on me.
Even if I could sing, I would not want to do a duet with Natalie Merchant. There's no keeping up with her. Congratulations to Michael Stipe, the front man for one of the greatest pop bands ever, and an experienced Natalie Merchant duetist - A Campfire Song. Great song. Great interpretation.
My top male vocalist and top female vocalist and I have loved them for well over 30 years now and just saw Natalie a few weeks ago in Glasgow and she is still as beautiful in voice and looks and dances like an angel. Love them both so so much! It just doesnt get better then these two together.
Me too, I burst into tears the first time I saw this, these two powerhouses singing this amazing song from my childhood.😭😭 Both of their voices are so beautiful!
Honestly, I think this is awful. Did they even rehearse this one time together? They sound so disconnected in the To Sir With Love performance. I love Natalie, she's great. But this performance sounds terrible. When they are singing together, they are singing at two different paces, probably because of Stipe's vocal style of dragging syllables, there's no way for Natalie to sing in tune with him.
@@bbcbbc1717 Hey that's awesome if you felt it like that! That's really what matters, is the listeners enjoyment. I'm just saying that I personally thought it sounded bad. But the comment section is full of people who loved it, which is what matters, right? 👍👍
Watching Natalie off stage and she is so sweet, shy, quiet, ..then she takes the stage ...and turns into SuperWoman..she won’t Let the music stop....she can’t..... it’s the transformative experience element...
All of the romantic people the world over totally endorse this song, tell their friends about it, play it on anniversaries and teach it to generations to come..
Charles Gorman she's the epitome of adorable wrapped in strength, originality, independence, humility, intelligence & wit. Just *ADORE* her & what she stands for. Often immersing herself deeply in humanitarian/philanthropic endeavours & devoting herself to a specific project while taking a hiatus from music. She never succumbed to others wanting to change her or run her career. Magical presence ❤️ Plus, the voice of an angel.
My breakup with my first wife was pretty amicable. There were only two things we had issues over. We both wanted the CDs, "In My Tribe" and Anne Lennox, "Medusa". I gave up Anne for Natalie.
Lulu's original was a stone classic. When I first came across this version, it seemed like an unlikely pairing, but I have to say that Michael and Natalie knocked this one out of the park. Wonderful.
@@cinnamongirl7877 I agree. I thought that this version would be very good, and it was good, but it's no comparison at all to the original. Lulu's version is miles above this one.
My favorite male/female live non studio duet cover is when David Bowie & Annie Lennox sung Under Pressure at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert but I have to say Michael and Natalie touched me just as much. Bravo to them
I know, I actually burst into tears when I first saw this one!!! These two absolute powerhouses singing this was almost too much for my fragile heart to take!
Candy... Give them what they want. Great song! Love It. Rebekah really does look like you Natalie. Amazing your her biological Aunt. She has blossomed into a beautiful Mother. 3 Beautiful grandchildren I will always remember and her.
There last concert tour during the summer of 93 when they played in Charlotte N.C. Michael Stipe was there surprise guest and he came out and did a few songs with them. A memorable show indeed.

Thank you so much Mr Tony White for adding your memories of this night.
Lucky you're not involved with Stipe anymore.
since the movie, I've always loved this song. A treat to see and hear two of my fave singers do it so beautifully (and earnestly!).
Beautiful woman with a beautiful voice
Real singers can sing anything. I am always blown away by both of these performers no matter what they sing. Awesome!

Have you seen Michael and Natalie sing John Prine's "Hello in There" ? a singular performance of a classic.
She was sooo in love with him!❤
Damn. My two favorite singers singing my one favorite in my life song. Damn.
Her smoothness in that voice has always drawn me in like Rain to the ground!
The most talented and sexiest woman of the generation
Ok.This is flawless.
Natalie Merchant hails from a small town in Western New York, Jamestown, but it's most famous resident is Lucille Ball.
Michael Stipe. One lucky dude.
yo diría que la afortunada es Natalie
Godammit they could sing. Both of them at the top of their game.
I absolutely love Natalie Merchant
2 great artists performing a great song by another great artist. Michael, Natalie, and LuLu. I love Natalie! She is beautiful!
You would be hard pressed to find a more distinctive and interesting voice than that of Natalie Merchant. Such an amazing frontwoman.
Everything about Natalie is so beautiful. The Spirit, the soul.Really something.
I don't think I have ever seen Natalie happier than she was singing with Michael here and other times. such a shame
The vocal skill levels don't stand up compared to the original, but the personality of the performers get us home. gr8 song. ty
She is a class act. Beautiful without having to reveal tons of skin
So beautiful. I’d put Stipe as my favorite all time singer and Natalie in my top 3 female voices❤️
When Natalie gives the little head toss at the end of the line...is the moment you fall in love with this incredible woman!!
