Martok: "How hollow is the sound of victory, without someone to share it with? Honor gives little comfort to a man alone in his home, and in his heart."
We actually have an example with Kor, He was one of the most famous and honored klingons in the empire but he was too good, by the time he was an old man and getting dementia his name and reputation had little influence outside of hero worship. So Martok was dead right with all of he said.

Martok counseling the ever stern Worf gently with the heart of a poet to remember his love for Jadzia to reconcile for the wedding; while Sisko’s counseling of the delicately flighty Dax is him brazenly telling her to grow the hell up, act her age for once & accept some accountability in nearly ruining her marriage before even starting it! The contrast in the mentoring pep talks still tickles me to this day
Despite Rom, i hate ferengi culture too. I think it was a warning from screenwriter, or all DS9 team against neoliberalism. Sadly, murica itself doesnt listen
@@samsticka and as usual, muricans still believe in capitalism, despite 2008 and trump. It seems the theory that red scare being actually a curse from native americans is correct.
That pep talk from martok. The poet in his heart, I only wish I'm Even Half as dedicated and fluent when I describe the woman who would not only be able to stand my presence... but enjoy and maybe even, relish my companionship.
I like the way Sisko handles the situation with Dax. Crushingly telling her to stop the bullshit and she can't keep riding on Curzon's legacy because she isn't Curzon anymore; she's Jadzia! Sirella is the Mistress of a Great House and should be accorded the full respect she's due. I have a friend who I am very close to, and sometimes you have to tell them what they NEED to hear, not what they want to hear. A true friend does that. In the end, Jadiza knew Sisko was right.
I listen to General martok loving and thought provoking thoughts about love and companionship and I think about my own wife and I am filled with that same Pride and comfort in the one I fell in love with it.
I think it would of been funny as Martok reached to take the food away, Bashir “stabs” his hand with a fork, glaring at him. Playing into the whole thing that Garak previously said about humans and food.
Omg, the thought of chowing down that steak, baked potato, and linguini turned me on just a little bit more than the thought of having a wedding night with Jadzia... 🤤
1:11 First? ....Well, in any serious nature, I suppose, yeah. 2:29 He had the crew of the Enterprise before to respect him in his "dishonor" times but.... Not the same.
None of Worf's partners were ever the "traditional" Klingon woman he had in his mind. Not Jadzia Dax, not Deanna Troy, and not K'Ehleyr - Alexander's mother - who was an actual Klingon Ambassador
A traditional Klingon woman probably won't want Worf, despite his noble qualities. He's like Spock in that they're both rejected by their own people despite being representing the best of them.
I had to feel for Chief O'Brien and Dr. Bashir. Having all that food in front of them only for it to be taken away. Then to throw salt on the wounds they are told there is no refund. That's just brutal😂
Never noticed before, but the guys taking down the wedding decorations are in Bajoran uniforms. Quark really got a couple of soldiers in to put up bunting. I know that Starfleet and the Bajorans take responsibility for maintenance on the station even in private businesses, but I kind of think decorating crosses the line.
I don't think those people are soliders. Bajoran military uniforms are all grey, all brown, or all red. The ones we see are moss green with a grey top. Same colors Rom wore when he was on the DS9 maintenance staff.
I had to look up who wrote this episode - his name is Ronald D. Moore. I want it out there that this whole scene, especially Martok's counseling to Worf, was so beautifully written, and I have to thank Mr. Moore for this wonderful dialogue.
It's been discussed that Federation citizens probable have most of their needs met, food, housing, clothing, etc. But they are given, or allow extra financing for personal items, or even can earn more funds for such items. Which makes sense given that Bashi and OBrien pay for food from Quark's when they can easily go back to their quarters and get it themselves. Maybe Quark actually might have real food, rather than replicated ones, though there's no mention of a kitchen.
I love this. Dax is confronted with a difficult personal relationship situation and what happens? Instead of touting cancel culture, praising her stand to live her life her way, Sisko calls her out. He tells her to get off her high horse. If she wants to be part of a community, a family, she will have to compromise, she will have to acknowledge, at least some of the time, that its not all about her. And amazingly she listens. The Federation really is a fantastic place for that alone. People listen to each other. They let their minds be changed. That more than the technology is the dream that makes Star Trek so appealing.
Dax, of all non-klingon people out there, should have known exactly what Sirella expected of her. Sirella commands a Great House, she was a noble lady before marrying Martok, she has massive amounts of reputation and social standing to maintain for the sake of that House. The livelihoods, social standing, respectability of everybody in that House rests on her's and Martok's shoulders. Of course she's going to give Dax a ridiculously hard time, she has to! It's literally her job. But no, Dax had to be rude, disrespectful and intolerably arrogant to the one person she must grovel to. Dax is an idiot.
"I'll get the menu." Yeah because a replicator with hundreds of thousands of meals from hundreds of different species can be fitted onto an A4 piece of paper.
Based on Quark's comment about squeezing the juice, rather than replicating it, (3:00) we might assume that this is all non-replicated food, hence the menus.

This wedding is actually so tragic considering what happens to Jadzia. If Worf hadn’t married her, it would have saved him a lot of awkward scenes with Ezri.
Similar could be said of any marriage, or relationship, or friendship even, the price of love is loss. If people went around avoiding things because tragedy might happen later on, we would never have made out of Eden.
