- The TD-50 series is the flagship in Roland's acclaimed V-Drums range, created for top-flight live performance, intense practice sessions, and eclectic studio work. As an alternative to the KD-140-BC kick included with the flagship TD-50KV, you have the option of mounting a KD-A22 Kick Drum Converter on your favorite 22-inch acoustic kick, for powerful hybrid performance and huge stage presence. Finnish drummer Kai Haht explores the ultimate expression and dynamics only possible with the new V-Drums TD-50KV and KD-A22 combination.

#TD50
I've been researching electric drums for days. This is the first time I've seen a demo featuring a talented drummer actually playing the instrument.
Kai! One of my favorites. From brutal Metal to Jazz. Epic!
Actually from Jazz to Brutal Metal (Jazz/Blues, Rock, Grindcore, Black Metal, Death Metal, Progressive Metal, Doom Metal, Folk Metal). That's how his swing got brought to Metal music in the first place.
Makes me smile to see him smiling...who's the man? One of the greatest...maybe even GOAT?
Kai's the man. Seriously he's a beast on drums.
No, what band does he play for?
Nightwish,Wintersun
buddy would not one damn thing to do with electric drums and more than likely would tear anyone apart playing them , shit look up the video where he tore people apart for using matched grip .HE might of been the best drummer of all time but i think that no longer applies because there are cats out there that are doing some crazy shit buddy could never even comprehend .IMOP he was ignorant but a freak of nature nevertheless, but times were different back then .I dont know who this guy is in the video but he knows his stuff thats for sure .
a lot of the modern drummers Weckl ,Antonio Sanchez , and the even newer guys have all the old school knowledge as well as everything current. Antonio Sanchez is one of the best drummers on the planet
@@vorvor3350 but first of all was the Rotten Sound's drummer.
Unbelievable drummer, and that kit sounds fucking incredible \m/
One of the GOATs, simply incredible.
one of my all time favorite drummers
WOOOOOOOW! These drums are not toys, that was a killer performance!
Kai Hahto. A human metronome.
I fucken love this guy!
He is my favourite drummer. So talented at so many different styles.
Life goals... be 25% the man Kai is on drums.
I would say, this sums it up.
I am amazed at the soundscape this thing can create.
Wow!… Kai is such a monster!!!
Love him!!
Incredible playing , I'm going to have to share this with my coworker . He plays in a Mariachi band . Wild and incredible drumming .
I think that Kai has four brains, one for each limb. Holy fkn shit!!!
I still got my Roland HD-3 V-Drums Lite kit, since 2012, wich I still love. Very solid e-drum, still like new! I recorded 318 videos using most of the HD-3 drum kit sounds. But the new TD-50 is fantastic!! Congratulations Roland!
Indestructible! My man was tearin those drums up
simply awesome
Wintersun!
Nightwish!
Swallow the sun
smiljanicn, Nightwish!!! Although Jukka nevalainen is better 😏
Reclaimer127 fanboy
Rotten Sound!
Awesome dynamic.
Beautiful playing!!!😎✊️
Amazing drums!!!
I was hoping for some classic Hahto blastbeats, and even without them he's still my favorite drummer.
The dude can blast for hours and not loose speed and accuracy. He’s a machine
So nice.... love the Roland stuff
The maestro drumming for Nightwish and on tour now Kai your the man!!!!
Fantastic playing 😎
Loved his drumming with Rotten Sound!
takes the stick left hand, as a jazz drummer, this guy is incredible and versatile !!
Learned a lot from some of the best teachers in the US of A!
He has said in interviews that he likes jazz.
@@k.l.7788 and has had taken lessons/hours from teachers like Freddie Gruber and Joe Morello... (back in the 2002)...
When you start your career as jazz drummer it's only natural thing.
Amazing
What a performance ❤️❤️😍😍😍😍
fantastic
The best!! Kai
Now "NIGHTWISH" drummer.
Amazing Drummer of all time!!!!!!!!!
The drums sound awesome
amazing!!!!
wow what a sound
Kai is such a beast!
Really good sound- Really good drummer.
My kit was delivered just after Christmas. Setup was fairly easy! The frame is sturdy, well crafted and just right in everyway (Cables hidden in tubes) and I should note that it's a super clean setup for stage. My primary application is HoW ... space management and it's minimalist visual appeal work well for our congregation. We did the KD22a option and man that was such a good choice. The "gradient" (Smoke/Blk)on the shell looks amazing!
I am a bit Mr. "twiddly knobs" but I have to say The sounds are phenomenal even with out getting tweak crazy! The heads can be "tuned" for playability and "bounce". AND you get individual 1/4" outputs for every part of the kit for ultimate control. The Digital Snare and Ride are like cra-cra. The quality of engineering and just artistry that went into just these components alone are a MAJOR upgrades over previous kits. The two piece 13" Hihat is also impressive. The bottom moving part is a bit tricky to get nailed down at first but man is it a big upgrade over the fixed HH of other E-Drum kits of the past.
The Price tag is high ... BUT so is the quality! I'm still pretty NEW with this tech and kit but I have a BIG FAT ZERO% Buyer's Remorse with this. I almost never feel this good about my audio purchases cause I find something to quibble about in the first week but this may be the RARE exception.
Just quality!
Good on ya Roland! Big ups from H-Town!

Kai professonaaal. Drummer Thanks videó.
I've just got the roland td50kv is a amazing kit the sound its just a good as drum software they sound real you get the boom and the overtones from toms and kick I've only owned for 4 days I'm very impressed with it and the editing its amazing to its truely the closes thing to acoustic kit.

Great.
*This approaches my idea of a studio MIDI-input rig.* The KD-A22 on a Pearl® 2214-size bass drum (Export should be the winner on cost) is all the depth needed to complement two each Roland® PD-85, PD-108-BC, and PD-128-BC tom pads, plus one each CY-12C, CY-13R, CY-15R-MG, and VH-11 cymbal pads and PD-128S-BC snare pad.
wow Master Drums, Nightwish
Those who are complaining about the sounds still sounding fake, I agree and why I use additive drums for my realistic acoustic sounds. Why Roland hasn't figured this out blows my mind. I like the idea of a full size kick drum as long as it feels real, the kick, hats and cymbals feeling fake has been an issue for electronic drums. Roland and electronic drums still have so much further to go before they feel real or match an acoustic kit but still a great learning tool for any serious drummer.
AWSOME
The size gets more real. Good.
I saw this set at a clinic in Calif when it first came out. It IS super imo. I have the TD-30 and felt mine was the "bomb" (good kind) . I would show my students how I could: change drum heads, change muffling - one piece of tape or two, eq my cymbals for different rooms or songs, etc. So I went to this clinic to see if I should consider this big upgrade and BIG price difference. I decided not to, but was impressed with the new ride cymbal/bell relationship. My TD 3O cymbals all have great bells, BUT in the TD 50 one would gradually change sounds as the drummer walked up his stick from the edge of the cym to the bell. OMG. Now if I didn't have my current set and had the disposable income (meaning with a "capital D") I would most likely get it.......and never look back.
Awesome🔟🔟🔟🔟👏👏👏👍
What great feel and that new bass drum
Cool
My wife won't like that 😁😁
And the price
He’s a beast!
Omg Roland got Kai to do a demo!? So awesome! and so unexpected by them! Who ever had the idea to get him should get a raise RIGHT NOW!
The TD-50 is sooo nice to play... the sound could be better for that price but it´s really amazing when you are playing!
i wish i could have this set
The human metronome, indeed! A worthy replacement for his close friend, and one time pupil, Jukka Nevalainen, in Nightwish.
Finally a Roland electronic drum kit that doesn't look like a practice kit.
yeah!! now they only have to make it sound well...
nice, more videos please some sample kit.
Kai did an excellent job, one of the greatest drummers of our time. That being said, Roland and Yamaha make some incredible E-Drum hardware, best in the business... But the sounds these new flagship modules are producing are, in my opinion, unacceptable. The sounds that you can acquire from nearly any VST these days or even the 2Box Drumit 5 module are just leaps and bounds above this.
You may have used actual drum samples and recordings for this module, but that synth engine is just completely ruining it. For a standard out of the box module, I haven't heard anything better than the 2Box yet. And until companies like Roland, Yamaha, Alesis etc. start moving in this direction, things like Toontrack, EZ Drummer and Superior Drummer are going to continue to rule.
I absolutely agree - you can hear someone playing an e-drum kit after a few fast played bass-drum notes - and it' the year 2020!!! I use an older V-drum in my studio to trigger Superior Drummer and even this old V-Drum works fine as a trigger, but it's not understandable that Roland is not capable to include professional sounds in these kits that cost a fortune! Who in this world is spending just about 8.000,- € to play these sub standard sounds? I remember a friend who is working as a professional live mixer on musical tours trying to switch to Roland e-drums on a tour to ease-up the mix (containing an orchestra) - they gave it up after the first night - turned out to be a joke! That was around 2010 - obviously nothing changed in a whole decade! I just don't get it!
I have a td30k, this sounds next level
The sound is a step forward......BUT it can not compete with high quality VST samples and for MY opinion also not with the sound of the MIMIC PRO. I have checked out all the videos available and the sound is still too much ROLAND and too less real drums. Specially the Cymbals do not sound good. Maybe it is too early to judge, it is just my impression and I am NOT blown away with that thing for such a high price tag. If the TD-50 would have real high quality onboard samples already I guess I would be convinced. Another bad taste is the digital USB cable of the CY18-DR.......which makes it useless for other drum modules. I am waiting for the Mimic Pro
I would say that roland makes the best hardware there is, then they make it even better leaving sound area behind. Sampled sounds are the future of Edrums. No matter how hard you try you will never replicate real drum sounds with the cpu, you can just record them.
"This advanced module also supports deep sound customization, including basic adjustment of heads and shells, layering of internal and user samples, and adjustment of overhead mics and ambience." I'm not native english speaker, but it seems that they talk about samples here.
You can assign your (user) samples to whichever pad you like. But you need to record those samples at a first place. It can be anything like hitting an iron bar. The VST sampled software is using record of a real drums recorded in advanced studios with many mics and at many different velocities. VST software itself isn't so expensive because it is hard to develope, but because it is hard to record.
the TD50 integrates actual recorded acoustic drums done in several world class studios using a huge range of microphones and drums at much higher samplerate than is normal for VST plugins. The synth engine then allows manipulation of every thing from direct, overhead and room sound through to skin type, drum depth, snare buzz, mic position, sub channel on kick and even tom resonance and transient shape. It's very fun to create your own sounds too!
I just ordered this kit, can't wait to get it.
I have I td 50 kv and this set it would be and understatement meant to say worth it
Wowww awesome 😶😶😶💪💪💪💪💪🥁🥁🎶🎶🎵🎵
I wish i have 1 like that for my band👍👍👍👍
What is your bänd? Do you ha ve youtube video,?
@@muumiveikko yes I do ..
I'm sure he can make every kit sound good...
That's probably true since he is also drum tec
best drummer in the world
The Man
Starclassic bass drum
geiles Teil
wow. ..:O :)
Hey what settings do you have on those drums? Or what drum did you choose specifically to make it sound so good?
Anyone know what preset he's using? My TD50 sounds nothing like this. I can't get the kick sounding any good. It either sounds like a basketball, or way too clicky.
Also are all the sounds we're hearing straight off the module? No post production EQ and FX?
ihan mahtavaa
YES! 🍪
GOD!!!
I need to practice more.
This should be a song track
This is the Roland set up I’ve been looking for.
Is this a special order or can I order this kit the way you have it!
Any insight will be much appreciated!
Machine guns galore
It's Hahto! There's a typo!
Having that said, Kaitsu is the man - and that's one sweet kit!
ups! xD
Я на своей TD-30KV сделаю то же самое :) Различие только лишь в размере бас-бочки? Интересуют характеристики звукового модуля!
if you want to win, hire a Finn
Roe Sham Boe unless you hire Valtteri Bottas
Nirmal Babu *Valtteri, this is Kai*
Only two walikng Gods on this planet....Kai Hahto and Tomas Haake
Tama!!!
Ooooh so Kai is representing the Roland TD-50 and Derek Roddy is representing the Alesis Strike Pro. Interesting!
5+!
You can still hear that it's samples being triggered. Roland is also compressing their sound files. I can actually hear the artifacts. Roland has not yet understood what others have that the room sound of the total kit is what makes up a lot of the sound. The samples sounds like they were recorded in different rooms. Check out some of the plugins on the marked that kicks Roland of the planet.
Nice job roland! Finally you managed to move from the 80's awful synthetized sound to the early 2000's basic less awful synthesized sound, now drummers can use bigger and better pads (long awaited feature!) to play their favorite Vst drum software. Yet, don't forget that roland modules are built to last forever and they are the best trigger modules in the market, the faster and the more accurate ones
PD: Any way, best drummer ever for the demo, at last you understood that drummers want to play real music and not those fancy unmusical demos with werid sounds that only Michael Schack can make sound good
I agree. It's a step up, but not even close to top end drum VSTs.
Pearl Mimic Pro is what you seek
***** it seems (any way, I can't buy any of those things, too poor for that) Remember that one huge downside of Mimic Pro is that it have a touch screen and no buttons, for me that in a device that born to be hitted is a stupid idea... but, we will see
I do too, I love the Mimic Pro.......just love the new 18" Ride.......but I guess the new ride is useless with other Modules than the TD-50 due to the new "digital cable connection"????? Or would it work with other modules?
mrsayang We will need to wait until some one show and tries to connect it to other modules to see what limitations it will carry. Interesting feature that "Digital Cable"
yeah Mercury ...drummer and founding member of Cathedral and Industry checking in... and still using Roland TD 10.. I'm loving all you're great famous drummers and they're amazing ability to play. however I still haven't heard anything from the TD 30 or the TD 50 that impresses me.. at least by the video demos posted. I understand the Improvement since TD 10 however not seeing it on any of your posts other than impressive drum playing. in 2007 I recorded an album with Cathedral called The Bridge.... find it listen to it and you tell me what do you think. I believe that my Approach to electronic Roland drums is a much better example of Roland's incredible accomplishment.
Drummers: Damn!
Non-drummers: Lol the guy doesn't stay on beat.
Demnnnnn I'm always late !
how does the cross sticking compare with VAD 306?
is it possible to place Tom 2? and if yes where to position the 18 inch ride?
you don't need additional parts to move the 1st floor tom to tom2 position. Simply swap the ride cymbal boom arm with the tom mount. Additionally, you can add 5 more triggers anywhere you like with either the MDH25 tom mount or MDY25 cymbal mount.
the best drum electonic of the world
The Wintersun has one of the best drummers in the world, but no new albums (
yes, i know.
I just want him back on Wintersun. They can take however much Time they need after that.
Not anymore ! hahaha
