  • Drum nerds! This is one of my edited kits from the TD-50X played together alongside a kit from EZ Drummer 3’s Main Room. The EZD3 kit is a Toontrack kit named “Radio Rock”. Tight, punchy kit! In this video, I’m running EZD3 concurrently with my TD50X for a blended ‘best of both worlds’ module + VST scenario. I’m running both the module and EZD3 through my mixer and blending the results.
As previously stated, I feel I’m getting my best results when I shut off the Roland tom sounds completely, using only the EZD3 Tom sounds, and then I’m blending EZD3’s snare/hat/cymbals and Kick with sounds from my module. The Toms are 100% from EZD3, while the rest of the kit is a blend of EZD3 PLUS the Roland TD50X module.
Note: no additional sound editing or post production was used done - this is all done live, and the sound you’re hearing is straight from the mixer ‘as is’. I’m running the module and my laptop into my mixer using different channels, and then just dialing in the different levels.
Let me know in the comments what you think.
    Thanks for listening!

Thanks! I go back & forth between ‘modules only’ and ‘modules + VST’s’. This particular mix came out pretty good, IMO. Thanks for listening.

Hey there! just watched your video and I am fascinated with the sounds you were able to get with both the TD and EZ drummer. I own a TD50X and I've been searching on how to combine these two for live music. Will this be possible. As you mentioned you used a mixer for the sound output. is it worth the time and money?? Thank you.

Hey there! So, I’ve changed how I run EZD from how this video showed it. In this clip, I had my 50X running through my mixer and I took the EZD3 audio from my laptop into another channel of my mixer.
Lately, I no longer take the audio from my laptop. I’m using my 50X as the audio interface, so all the sound is coming from my 50X -- both the internal Roland sounds and EZD3.mixed together. I feel this gives me better sound results. I get the punch from the 50X and the realism from EZD3. Watch one of my recent videos and you can judge what sounds better. I don’t always use EZD…I go back & forth. FYI - I post more regularly on Insta (under my name), so you’ll get a better idea of the sounds I’m getting. Hope this helps

My options in my td50x are generic vendor what do you mean by local control

@@angelmartinez-rh3iz I’m away from my module. Check your owners manual or Google it. When you turn local control to ‘off’, it shuts off your module sounds so you only hear the VST. I keep mine on
