    I really like her. And I think the commenters saying she’s “phony” are confusing phoniness with class. Ms. Turner grew up and lived in an era where one put his/her best face forward, kept private things private, and paused before simply blurting anything out. She had self-respect and clearly makes no excuses for her own mistakes and doesn’t place blame on others (and Bryant Gumbel asked her some pretty harsh questions which she handled with elegance, honesty and grace). Potty mouths weren’t in vogue even in 1982 and people were still civil. Some celebrity doing an interview now may seem to be open and blunt and classless (and therefore not seem “phony”), but I’m willing to bet they’re more dishonest than Ms. Turner is here. Society is spiraling backwards very quickly and it’s a damn shame.

    Lana is a true Legend. Stars of her era were great to interview because they had that star quality that made them fascinating to watch and listen to. I just bought her book on Amazon and I can't wait to read it!

      Yes; it was too bad that she was killed off at the end of Season 2. Rumor has it that Jane Wyman truly disliked her. While she wasn’t nearly the gifted actress that Wyman was, the reality was that whenever Turner appeared on the show, the ratings would spike. It seems it was a case of jealousy. Wyman reportedly threatened to walk if Tuner’s contract was renewed for Season 3. The off screen tension translated beautifully between them on screen. Their scenes together positively crackled. FC was great from Seasons 1-3, good from 3-6, and pretty bad from 7-9. That last season was ghastly.

    I can't believe all the sexist comments on here calling Lana Turner a tramp. So why not criticize Clark Gable, Eddie Fisher, Frank Sinatra, and Mickey Rooney as man whores as well? They slept with women that were from all walks of life, married, single, widowed, divorced, and even more creepy, some that were probably underage as well. They didn't give a damn either. I don't get these nasty comments regarding Lana Turner because she's a female and she's not supposed to sleep around as much as these male movie stars. I'll tell you one thing, this woman was all class regardless of her affairs.

    • @davidallen508
      @davidallen508 2 роки тому

      The definition of “class” is purely subjective ; I think Kathryn Grayson had it.When asked how she managed to resist the charms of
      Mario Lanza, Kathryn replied, “It was easy, I simply didn’t allow it to happen”.The men you mention were pathetic but the kindest thing
      I can say about some of the Hollywood “beauties” is that they were sirens.Lana had “star quality” and delivered the goods expertly.

      He was right. Lana Turner was married 8 times, and none of them lasted as long as four years. Turner had a "fling" off-set with nearly every leading man she had (including Anthony Quinn) regardless if she was married or not. She was even quoted as saying that she slept with Alan Ladd because "even short men need love." She loved men, and apparently had a tendency to fall in "lust" rather than in love.

I'm at the library and this guy near me at the books is so ugly I don't see how any women would want him. And I'm not trying to be mean, but honest. She said she's a chosen celibate, I'm not I just haven't found the right guy yet. Her daughter is really beautiful too.

    I bought Lana's book, read it & have watched several interviews. In doing so, Lana's book revealed she wasn't a present mother at all. Her Mother raised her daughter Cheryl. It was apparent that Lana's primary focus was always her career & men & family was secondary. Despite she financially secured all, her behavior was tolerated most by her Mother & business people. I see a conflict in the interviews vs book yet with both she's yet to be honest in the choices she made? Several times over. I think she did what she wanted to do regardless.

Her make up man and good friend said she was very sexual and treated sex in a very male way - however, i realise some things she couldn't divulge = even in 1982.

    Interesting that Lana talks about Mickey Rooney. He said in his book that he had sex with her, got her pregnant, and she had an abortion. So the question is, who's lying? Also, there's a rumor that she had a tryst with John Garfield, but discovered that off screen there chemistry wasn't the same.

    • @theoriginalthinker9199
      @theoriginalthinker9199 Рік тому +1

      @tz3218 When Lana first came to Hollywood, Mickey was the biggest star in the world. He had all the girls. When he married Ava Gardner, it was said because she didn't give it up so easily. I see no reason why he would lie about Lana. She was no different to Mickey than many other girls at that time.
