    We had a silver cup bread bakery factory here in Detroit back in the 1950's & prior. It was a huge brick building on E. Vernor & Chene street. My grandma went to school across the street at Miller High & used to talk about the smell of fresh bread. It was abandoned for many years & burned down in 1989. The site now is a nursing home.

      She was and is still completely underrated. I truly believe she was on par with Bette Davis and the likes. If Hollywood didn’t blacklist her and accepted her, she would have given us so many more amazing performances (although I adore her for what she has given). A lot of props to Sally for giving her this beautiful and sensitive spotlight.

    Her story growing up is truly heart wrenching and tragic. For anyone to have to endure sexual, physical, mental, emotional abuse is truly more than any human can bear. I think laughing is her way of coping, but as someone listening to this, I could not laugh at it or have a smirk like this presenter did. It’s highly insensitive and inappropriate quite honestly. Deep respect for her for being able to narrate her own story without shedding a tear no matter how bad you are overcome with emotion. Sometimes we make our own stories as bad as we want to in our minds not knowing what others are going through. Peace and love to all.

    It was my honor to meet Eartha Kitt at NYCs radio city music hall back stage.
    My sister & I were the only 2 she let back stage to meet her. She did not warm to my pretentious sister but she gave me a charming smile.
    She was a wise judge of character because my sister tormented me, high yellow me.
    High yellow hatred is real in the Black community & white community, even in 2022.
    She's right, you try to survive by becoming invisible & mute.
    You'd be shocked to discover how many Black families practice these ungodly acts.
    he was amazing as a talent & human being.
    I was so shy in her magnificent presence. She was a Black girl rock star that still shines to me, in her recordings & movies.

    Very tragic. I felt the same way most of my childhood being half Black and Japanese. Where do I fit? Your own family rejecting you, peers at school doing the same. Sexual abuse and beatings and dysfunctional relationships that became self destructive in my younger years. I honestly thanks God for all the wisdom I acquired throughout time, able to forgive and educate my self. Following my passion which it’s painting and making sure my heart does not age with pain and choose instead love and compassion. My respect for this beautiful lady. She had to have the most tremendous inner strength to overcome life challenges , I understand her perfectly and listening to her makes me realized that even though I am a survivor, there is others who their suffering is or has been much worse. We overcome all life challenges by the supernatural power of God, remember that.

    The stereotype of “a good southern family, of Baptist or Protestant faith” is false. Ertha’s upbringing is a testament to that cruel reality she endured. To what ends these people need to prove their superiority and why? Only their small and narrow minds will know. The mix of all ethnicities such as Eartha’s, brings beautiful results to the American fabric. Thank you Miss Kitt for sharing your story. I’m sorry you had to endure such cruel treatment.     I use to date a guy who would often refer to me as Eartha Kitt. Back then, I took it as an insult because that’s how he meant it and also because I was uneducated about her story and her history. Like Ms. Kitt, my life was described using “the 6 words” too! But what my Ex meant for evil, God meant for good. This interview is so on time for me;
    I’m up watching it at the crack of Dawn because I couldn’t sleep and somehow it popped up in my recommended watches. Today, I receive being referred to Ms. Kitt as an honor. I have close family members that are high yellow, olive , red bone . I don’t remember calling them yella , but it doesn’t have to be a derogatory term. However , right here she doesn’t look high yella . She looks cinnamon a bright spicy yellow brown. Kinda like Halle .. her color is beautiful. I am so saddened that something that was beautiful was used against her.

      Eartha wasn’t even yella. I am suspicious she often exaggerated her childhood experiences.

      @@MiamiPush2theLimit Anna Lucosta, a great movie she starred in, was rejected by many because critics said she was too light on black and white film to be kissing a black man.

    Eartha, who cares what people says about you. I've never heard anything bat about you. You're my star for many many years. Them that mistreated you is not worth thinking of. I know because I've been through it and yes it hurts at times but we survived.

    I watched a you tube video of her daughter on Tameron Hall show and it's hard to see that she is mixed but I can see it in this younger video of her daughter. People were saying that Eartha Kitt mush have adopted her since she looks white so she spoke out people's comments. People are down right nasty about what they don't understand.

    What a spectacular person! All of the pain and suffering she endured, she never gave up and even excelled in her life. I have seen interviews with her daughter and she is a very self-actualized and amazing person. It is like Eartha worked hard to make sure her daughter had a much better childhood and life than she had. One thing that always comes to mind, when I think of Eartha, is her amazing smile that would light up the room. Her story needs to be heard by everyone. I am going to get her book, "Thursday's Child", so I can read more about her life.

    I want to hug her♥️. I have always liked her as an entertainer, but really had no idea of her hardships growing up. Her daughter tells a phenomenal story about their trip to South Africa, and an incident that happened. She turned a negative into a positive. Amazing.
