ITGR was the first webcomic I ever read on webtoons that I really liked and it was when it was on canvas 🎉
Its like my second or third, but I really love it right now. Im currently reading it right now, and it’s definitely my favourite.

Yeah, I wanna get my idea out there. Only a couple problems lie ahead of me.
1: my drawing is a meh.
2: I can't perform elevator pitches. I have to at least describe most of the story.
3: I can't do deadlines. Since you actually need a schedule to upload.
4: I dunno how to draw backgrounds. I can describe them, but I suck at drawing them.
And that's about it.
Don't worry, I'm trying too but my art is meh as well. I have a job saving up money so I can one day get an artist. For now though start somewhere small to write down you story and slowly gain a following. Join a online book club as well if you want to get healthy criticism on things you might need to work on. Good luck, I'm rooting for you.

I dont really go through the canvas part of webtoon so when I read Im The Grim Reaper when it was on discover. To me that was like a gold mine

I love this series I’ve been reading it for like a couple months
I'm a Character-driven writer where my characters pop up first and then the story/plot comes after so I'm impressed by Plot-driven writers who have the narrative first and then the characters created for specific points. She's obviously Plot-driven.😍🤩👍🏿

I read every episode, hoping that the next episode is coming soon. I have been reading the cat scene that you created over and over. Which inspired me to come out with my own series that is not on Web Toon.YET. It is going to be called;The Hooded One.

I’m drawing the first page of my canvas webtoon! My only worries are the backgrounds....
what exactly does a webtoon editor do? how involved are they in the input that goes into the writing?
From what I’ve heard, all they do is:
• Suggest edits to improve readability and flow (like revising panel composition and lettering)
• Make sure your story is concise and to the point (usually by asking the author to cut out certain scenes or characters if they don’t affect the story in any significant way)
• Make sure the quality of the episodes are on par with previous episodes (some of them don’t do this if the author works on an episode-to-episode basis like UnOrdinary and Lumine, because they don’t have time to fix the quality).
• Revise and plan out your story with you in order to ensure that it has clear plot points and endings. From what I’ve heard, they don’t force you to add or remove anything you’re not comfortable with. The author has full creative control with the comic, all the editors do is clean up any messy or unexplained scenes/characters.

Lilith Search the Tapas Forums if you need any information about Webtoon. Plenty of featured creators and editors go on the forums to chat with other aspiring comic creators all the time. Usually they remain anonymous but they answer a lot of questions about the editing/selection process in question forums.

Okay this thing will help me with my comic what i have just released today. I also try describe the characters and i also try to express the situation by characters what it is really right now. I really like to do that. And getting people's attention i try to do some unique thing. But i need to do more work on it. And about the story i try to add more stories which will really fit with my story and characters. And i really like make great plots. This was so helpful and insightful! Also, Grave is adorable
I think Grave spoiled some plot points, but I’m willing to wait to see if their true or if I’m just imagining. Also I always get a bit worried when a creator say “I already have the ending planned.” As a reader I’m frightened because it usually means the story is going to be a lot shorter than I would like. Though I admit there are times when it ends up being quite long as well, perhaps too long and not actually thought out. (Looking at you George R.R. Martin.)
That aside its weird to hear that its up to editors what gets moved up on Discover. I’d think it would be the following it has, but maybe it is as well but just wasn’t mentioned.
Having the ending planned out is essential in the writing process tho.
It’s not an indication that the story will end anytime soon either. It just means that the author knows where the story is headed. If the author didn’t plan out the ending, the story would have no point because it would be going nowhere. I can guarantee you that all your favorite webcomic creators/authors have planned out their endings, because you can’t make it in the professional world otherwise.
@@catcactus1234 That last part is a very broad stretch, as not only is it assuming but for certain comics it's very apparent the author doesn't have a precise ending in mind. Sometimes maybe a few brainstormed ideas but not an exact set ending.
scyjynx I didn’t mean “planned out” as in a precisely detailed outline/script. I just mean they DO know how the story will end, whether it’s through a detailed script or a few vague bullet points. If someone makes a story and has genuinely no idea how it’s going to end while they’re making it, that’s a red flag.

I like her energy, but it sort felt like this interview was a little scattered. I felt it was a little hard to follow along exactly what the pitching process is for Webtoon. Generally, what is typically required so that Canvas creators know what to prepare??
The only thing I hate about I'm the Grim Reaper is the dumb use of trigger warnings. It's clearly a series that isn't for the faint of heart from the title. Otherwise I actually loved it for having great artwork and long chapters that remind me of manga.

I have an idea for a webcomic but I'm still really young and I'm not an actual artist yet or anything, but I really want to pursue art as a career. Any tips for people staring out?
Draw as often as you can (but not so much that you risk your health /sleep), draw what makes you uncomfortable, because that is what you need to practice the most, but also draw what you enjoy, so that you keep yourself motivated. I've also heard that your first project should not be your "baby" but instead a project that you're not so emotionally attached to, so that you can experiment and make the mistakes that are necessary for learning your strengths/weaknesses, and also to discover what your true rhythm/work flow/schedule is, so you know what to expect when the time comes for creating the projects that you're really passionate about.
Write everything down so you'll remember everything and make sure you draw the character designs
I would listen to a whole podcast of this with just her voice

How well do you guys think a comic with no dialogue or thought bubbles would be received on webtoon? I'd probably not change the lack of dialogue, but I am curious as to what some of you guys would think about it.
