@@Kevstreehouse I actually think 1 and 2 are equally matched. Prefer the combat in 1 slightly and level design a lot more but most stuff in kh2 is basically the same but better yeah. Haven't actually watched your kh2 vid but I will do now.
Considering the fact i actually managed to 100% complete union cross' story mode, i'd say the gameplay's passable, it's not great, but it's not as bad as people think it is. And say what you will about the franchise story after BbS, but I personally wouldn't be as interested in these games if it wasn't for all the complicated lore. And for the record, just because the characters got saved, that dosn't undo all the pain they went through, Terra and Aqua still spent over 11 years suffering, DiZ still forced Roxas and convinced Xion to give up their lifes to wake up Sora without knowing they'd get another chanse, Riku replica and Eraqus still died, ect.
I don't know if I would say it undoes the pain but the bbs crew getting a happy ending is more of a symptom of khs decline for me. Like the fact every character got a happy ending almost immediately at the end of Kingdom hearts 3 kinda of annoys. I am over blowing it here for the sake of comedy and don't get me wrong I actually enjoy dream drop distance but kh 3 feels kinda toothless to me and it feels like the series is almost too obtuse to follow at this stage. More power to you if you can keep up with it but it's getting a bit hard for me personally. Aside for the critiques I hope you enjoyed the video.
@@Kevstreehouse And I do kinda agree with you about all of the happy endings being to close to each other, but that’s more of a pacing problem, than it is a story problem.
Hahaha love the closing line. I honestly gave up on kingdom hearts after 3. I liked how it ended the Xehanort arc, but I hated how it obviously made the effort to never end the series ever forever for keepsies.
I think going over it, the audience misinterpreted what nomura meant about the saga ending and he also didnt clearly tell us what hes actually been doing. Cuz all the stuff going into this new arc has been present since the beginning. That miscommunication has given people this impression which I don't fault them for. Noticing this stuff however ive turned around actually become excited again just conceptually what he may touch on now. Hopefully now that we are starting relatively fresh I hope the story can be emotionally engaging again. And if not the ideas oresented are fascinating for myself
I definitely agree with your conclusion that BBS is the last time a KH game had that spark that made you fall in love with the series. Coded was, well, Coded. DDD had a plot that was too poorly structured and had too many attempts at mind-fuckery to be good, as well as difficulty issues (Balloon) and exploration issues (Flowmotion just being a "go anywhere and everywhere" mode right from the start of the game). KH3 is a game that dies on the sword of its poorly paced, incredibly sequel-baiting plot, and also took forever to be released. For all of BBS' issues, it never feels like a SLOPPY game (outside of the Mysterious Figure), but the same can't be said for what comes after it.
Exactly. I think its cause it was at a time where square didn't know how much they'd get out of the series so they really had to make each game count. Bbs maybe the last really solid entry and the series just became a victim of its own success after that. Like I said I'm hoping 4 is a bit of course correction as the reception fanwise for 3 wasn't great and 4 seems to be taking a more grounded approach with a more mature sora.
Started kh3... got railroaded into a mechanic as a rollercoaster to try to get me to feel like disneyland is a good place to be, and turned it off... gameplay out the window
My fav! =)
It's a toss up for me. It's this or 2 and I had such a ball capturing for this video that I think this might be my favourite at the moment 😂

@@TheRetroPerspective oh mate 2 steals the win over 1 for me with the drive forms. That shit is anime as fuck and I love it

Totally agree. 100 percent my thought on that game too
