That moment in rocky 4 when Paulie says ‘ if I could unzip my skin and be somebody else I wanna be you rock... your all heart ‘ best paulie moment that for me !

Never have I seen a character on film or literature who absolutely adored his wife like Rocky did with Adrian. He never remarried nor had any flings when she was alive. Hell, he named his restaurant after her. To see him break down over her gets me ever time. He loved her unconditionally and her with him. Think or thin, they stayed by each other's side. True love.
And you can tell he loves Pauly just as much even if he can be a headache sometimes.. Like the scene where Marie is like "Rocky theres a guy causing trouble and he wont leave"(talking about Pauly) and Rockys like "Who? Him?.. Nah. Thats Family."
A shame Stallone didn't win Oscar for Creed, as his self-created character of Rocky Balboa is more nuanced and 3 dimensional than a lot of action movie characters ever written. Even here he shows he can act. He'll probably never win an Oscar, but at some point Stallone should get a Lifetime achievement award...for being the Underdog who never gave up and always stayed true to who he was.
+Ray Petree Stallone has actually never won an Oscar. He was nominated for best actor and best original screenplay in '76 for the original Rocky and then nominated for best supporting actor in Creed. Unfortunately he lost all three times :'(
Brian McAleer I agree!! Michael B Jordan and Ryan Coogler both said how talented of an actor he was especially when he portrayed Rocky.I love how Creed payed big homage to the first Rocky. Till this day I love the whole Rocky franchise especially Creed . Can’t wait for Creed 2
This is so sad, a man who fought for everything in his life. Someone whose heart is pure as gold, lost everything. His kid doesn’t want nothing to do with him, he lost millions and his wife passed away. The moment he ask for someone to help him because he feels like he is drowning, no one is there. This breaks my heart how such a kind man, a good man full of life and joy ends up with nothing meaningful in his life anymore.
In all honesty, he was actually extremely wealthy here, he just didn't have any reason to spend any of it. I'm sure the original post is not much about money, but people think he's still poor and he isn't. He owned a successful gym that he hired other people to handle and a successful restaurant. I just wanted to point that out.
This scene will explain to you why he wanted to be eaten by Cancer in Creed, Rocky had 2 pillars in his life Adrian and Paulie, Adrian dying hurt him the most and once Paulie left he had nobody to share his pain, even while having the whole city of Philly admiring and cheering for him he was now truly alone.
Josh Adams #33Trucking well his son in the movie moved to Vancouver, or I don’t know if you’re implying about his son in real life because he also played Rocky’s son in Rocky 5
Damon Jones And thats when he realized he finally had someone that cares about more than just the boxer Rocky. Like the scene where Adonis referred to Rocky as his uncle, and he didn’t want him to die, that showed that Adonis really loved Rocky. Rocky immediately felt awful, and of course y’all know the rest. Point is, Adonis became Rocky’s family. He refueled Rocky’s will to go on. Because obviously no one thought Creed could to it, but he proved he could, and seemingly instantly gained a hellava lot of respect when Rocky realized this is much more than just boxing. When he said “Im gonna stop this fight, I didn’t do it for ya dad, but Imma do it for you” Then he said “NO I GOTTA PROVE IT” And Rocky said “Prove what?” And Creed said “That i’m not a disappointment and clearly got emotional behind his black eye and everything” It shows that they both care about each other. I forgot what I was tryna say haha, but Creed is one of my favorite Rocky movies ever. A true masterpiece.
Damon Jones so true! But also let’s not forget his 3rd pillar, Mickey. That scene when Mickey dies in Rocky III with him crying over Mickey is just so sad.
Man this scene got me. I understand how Rocky feels when you give so much to people around you and when you ask for a little help or just need someone to listen to your problems everyone is too busy or has something else to do. You realize that all you can depend on is you and it doesn't matter how nice you are to other people or what you do for them. All you can do is depend on you..

RIP Burt. Thanks for giving one of the best interpratations of an entertaining character like Paulie in one of my favorite movie franchises of all time.
This scene reminds me of when my mum died and my dad and I had a few drinks the night before the funeral. He was a man who never got over emotional about anything, until I said it wasn't his fault mum 'left'. He wasn't angry at me, just when I said it with the phrasing he looked like he was going to lose it. As an ex merchant sailor with wrists bigger than my knee caps it was intimidating in the same way Rocky was, a strong man who couldn't show his hurt in any way verbally. But I knew, and I apologised like Pauly. And like Rocky my old fella said it way okay and got me another drink. That's why I love Sylvester Stallone, his grasp of how people really interact is peerless.

Adrian and Rocky Relationship is probably the least cliche Romance in Cinematic History. It made it feel more real. So when he loses her. You really feel his pain.
Me too. When he said that I knew EXACTLY what he meant. It’s like a heart attack or stroke feeling. The amount of pressure you feel is terrible. You don’t wanna eat, can’t sleep or focus. The worst feeling.

The pain is still so overwhelming, knowing he was my biggest supporter, but I couldn’t support him… I could’ve been a better son… Rocky, you said it, “ I didn’t know it was supposed to be this hard” Everyone says time heals all wounds, but this feels like a handicap now… I miss my biggest supporter… I just felt the need to share this, I don’t know what else to do, there’s some nights it hurts so much. This scene broke my heart. My father introduced me to rocky at a very early age, And when he died I hung on to rocky as a means of eternal connection with my dad. And I've watched every single movie. Me and my sister. Rocky is our thing. Her. My father and me. To watch rocky so vulnerable reminds me of my father. And it breaks me every time. This scene along with the Micky scene In rocky 5.
this scene is just too sad, watching rocky just not knowing what to do when his fighting spirit can't weave it's way into helping him with loss in his life, knowing the beast inside him knows now, that it's a fight now to make him feel alive.. just one last time
I will say Stallone's Rocky speeches are some of the best regarding how hard life can be.....i am gkad we have these to watch. I have been through the worst 6 years of my life and i am trying to get it better.
My Dad passed away recently and hearing the line "it wasn't supposed to be like this Paulie" hit me differently than it ever did before. He was 61 but a part of me feels he was taken to soon, does anyone else have that feeling?
I felt the same honestly, ever since my Dog (Myles) died at the old age of 14 three months ago this year (Which In Dog years Is almost near exceeding the natural age limit of a dog, and Is generally considered a dog that's In his/hers 70s, at least 78 or so according to human years which Is extremely old), I always said to myself that "I didn't want It to end this way for him". It was only then that I came to find out, that he didn't have to suffer anymore. And that he already served his purpose In life, which was loving and caring for our family as much as his job was always trying to protect our family. And from that moment, I smiled further on knowing that he did what he needed to, Instead of crying because he couldn't stay long enough when I wanted him to. "Don't cry because It's over, smile because It happened." - Dr. Seuss. ❤
Man... For me this movie is the most melancholy of the whole series... He (Sly) could put his character (Rocky) in eternal glory... But no... he went further than that... And he showed his character was losing in each film, his friends and family, as any ordinary person happens... Today, with the passage of time, and to a certain extent, I identify with him... Maybe Sly later on, make a movie with the death of his character and the similarity of what happened to his coach, Mickey and Creed is his successor to Rocky .. These films are sometimes confused with action during struggles, is at the same time a life lesson...
“Sometimes it’s hard to breathe” hits so damn hard. I get that. Almost feels like you’re gonna have a heart attack or stroke or your chest is gonna explode or implode. I don’t know how it doesn’t kill you but it’s the worst feeling. Because it’s all mental pain, anxiety, sadness. I swear the way he says it so angry yet so sad and cries hits hard because that’s exactly how it feels
I just noticed the music in the background was played in Rocky 3 after Mickey died. EDIT: Even though Rocky 5 sucked, that Mickey scene with Rocky was emotional.
Overall Rocky V wasn't a good movie but there is a few moments in the movie that are good. I want to act like sometimes that Rocky V doesn't exist but at the end of the day you have to take the good with the bad. If Rocky V was good we wouldn't have gotten Rocky Balboa and if we didn't get that maybe we would've never gotten Creed.
Joe McKim I used to agree with you but if you watch Rocky all the way through to Rocky Balboa, Rocky V is actually much better than we realized at first.
Magic of Alvin Lui Fr and I’m not gonna lie the street fight is dope as it kinda goes back to the rocky 1 vibe and it’s good it actually wasn’t that bad of a film
hey bro i will recommend u vipassana meditation its a meditation which will really make u a happier person and help u with ur issues in life try it once bro its really life changing it has helped me so much bro in just 1 course am lost for words how much it has helped me
Sly can act *and* direct but he rarely taxed his talent. He could have been the next Clint Eastwood, a respected craftsman. Instead, he went after the easy payday.
I love that the music under it all is the music that played in Rocky II, when he was there by Adrian’s side at the hospital. On the surface, these movies may appear simple. But their themes run deep.
What shocks me is how Stallone kept Rocky the exact same as all the movies. I mean Rocky was always the most loveable dumb guy ever, and during all the movies including Creed he always kept a good spirit even his style of clothes. He’s the Definition of pure hearted guy. Always the most humble and nicest guy in the room
Definitely an amazing and sad scene. I can also relate to Paulie very well at the part about staying in one place you become that place. Rocko this is all i got. I've been at my job for so many years I couldn't imagine being without it.
How much Rocky had gone through in his life, all the people he lost; Apollo, Mick, and of course Adrian, he kept moving forward. He took the hits, no matter how hard they were, and kept moving forward. Life is tough for everyone, Rocky shows us all how life can beat you to your knees, but you have to get back up, you can never surrender.
Only few people understand what rocky is talking about in this scene...sometimes we try to act so calm but inside we’re angry raging sometimes for no reason it’s just their words would never explain! Very deep scene
It's also sort of a cultural programming. He's Rocky, he's Rambo he's unstoppable. So on a basic level we know that if, of all people, he is crying. Something truly awful has happened.
They did great with this scene Polly really looked so serious about Rocky's statement about Adrian being gone and felt like a beast inside Polly pauses and looks hard at rocky.
I love the relationships between these two. Two different people and yet in a strange way they love each other. Rocky is very patient and forgiving towards Paulie, even though he can be a jerk. Burt Young played his character well.
Rocky films inspired me to never give up I broke my leg and arm in a wreck on the same side I’ll always idolize the rocky character 5 months later I’m walking and moving thanks to therapy thank you Sylvester Stallone for such an iconic character

Big confluence of factors that make this scene so emotional. Stalone's unique blue-collar drawl, his visible age, and the chops to be able to break his voice up like that all contribute to the believable depiction of a old timer who doesn't understand what he's supposed to do with himself. This really is a wonderful film.

Adrian and Rocky Relationship is probably the least cliche Romance in Cinematic History. It made it feel more real. So when he loses her. You really feel his pain.
Beautifully acted. It brought tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat. I understand the feeling of not being able to breathe.
Me too. When he said that I knew EXACTLY what he meant. It’s like a heart attack or stroke feeling. The amount of pressure you feel is terrible. You don’t wanna eat, can’t sleep or focus. The worst feeling.
My Dad committed suicide, showing no signs mental illness… the most cheerful and loving person I’ve ever known… it’s been almost 6 years now…. The pain is still so overwhelming, knowing he was my biggest supporter, but I couldn’t support him… I could’ve been a better son… Rocky, you said it, “ I didn’t know it was supposed to be this hard”
Everyone says time heals all wounds, but this feels like a handicap now… I miss my biggest supporter… I just felt the need to share this, I don’t know what else to do, there’s some nights it hurts so much. But I’ll keep praying keep and keep on keeping on.
Miss you and Love you Dad♥️
Thankyou Rocky! I still do too!!
"Sometimes it's hard to breathe" and "It wasn't supposed to be this hard" gets to my feels every time! 😥 Great dialogue here.

This scene broke my heart.
My father introduced me to rocky at a very early age,
And when he died I hung on to rocky as a means of eternal connection with my dad.
And I've watched every single movie.
Me and my sister. Rocky is our thing.
Her. My father and me.
To watch rocky so vulnerable reminds me of my father.
And it breaks me every time.
This scene along with the Micky scene In rocky 5.
That's so beautiful. I'm so truly sorry for your loss
RIP Paulie! Always tear up watching this scene! Wonderful Actor
Rocky is the greatest character ever put on film
Excellent acting by Stallone and Burt
stallone is a very good actor
Hes the best actor
Best actor
Thats an understatement
this scene is just too sad, watching rocky just not knowing what to do when his fighting spirit can't weave it's way into helping him with loss in his life, knowing the beast inside him knows now, that it's a fight now to make him feel alive.. just one last time
It's a scary thing when you love someone so deeply that you can never imagine life without them.
“It wasn’t supposed to be like this” tell myself that everyday💔
Should’ve won an academy award for this movie the scenes was touching and his acting Stallone was superb
When you know how is to have "some stuffs in basement" hurts everytime
Alex Papi most definitely
i do
Rip Burt young you'll be missed.
When someone says stallone can’t act show them this scene
seein rocky cry does something to me bra. bro is such a nice gentle giant
One of the most beautiful scenes ever made
I will say Stallone's Rocky speeches are some of the best regarding how hard life can be.....i am gkad we have these to watch. I have been through the worst 6 years of my life and i am trying to get it better.
This scene and the one where he remembers Adrian are so sad.
“Tell me about the stuff…”
Love this scene.
RIP Burt Young.
Him telling Rocky it’s okay really breaks me every time.
My Dad passed away recently and hearing the line "it wasn't supposed to be like this Paulie" hit me differently than it ever did before. He was 61 but a part of me feels he was taken to soon, does anyone else have that feeling?
Yes hun. Hope your doing better x
Yes
@@clareinglesbywood4863 I am thank you
I felt the same honestly, ever since my Dog (Myles) died at the old age of 14 three months ago this year (Which In Dog years Is almost near exceeding the natural age limit of a dog, and Is generally considered a dog that's In his/hers 70s, at least 78 or so according to human years which Is extremely old), I always said to myself that "I didn't want It to end this way for him".
Seuss.
❤
@@darkclaw1462 absolutely you should smile because it happened. Pets are part of the family my previous 2 cats certainly were
This scene always makes me cry.
I didnt hear no bell get up rock remember mickey loves ya
Just thinking about the scene now makes me emotional. The music, the acting and everything else evokes such emotions
RIP Burt Young u made all the Rocky's movies so great
Rocky is like your dad man..
When Rocky cries, it breaks you down. You want to help..it breaks you down hard
Rocky Balboa is all alone 🥺💖🥊
I can relate. I didn't know growing up that life was supposed to be this hard

Him saying I didn’t know it was supposed to be this hard. So true
When Stallone says "I never knew it was supposed to be this hard!", it just breaks my heart...
It's a very heartfelt piece... Well done, anyone who hasn't felt like it hasn't been hurt.
And people think Stallone can't act.
blast from the past people who say that are stupid
Eh, he is an award winning actor.
Sly can act *and* direct but he rarely taxed his talent. He could have been the next Clint Eastwood, a respected craftsman. Instead, he went after the easy payday.
He doesn't act he lives in those scenes
They just confused him with Arnold.
Great acting had me in tears Genius SLY My Favorite Bad Ass Love him
Good men don't have a shame in crying(Love you Rocky)!
I love that the music under it all is the music that played in Rocky II, when he was there by Adrian’s side at the hospital. On the surface, these movies may appear simple. But their themes run deep.
Such a powerful scene. I remember watching it back in the day in the theatre holding back tears. In my opinion, the best movie of the series.
This is my favorite rocky movie of them all
"It's okay, Rocko."
"Is it okay?"
Such a emotionally raw line.
This part always makes me cry.
Both Stallone and young are incredible in this scene
Love this 0:43 such a side of Paulie you rarely saw
0:55 Sly still has it. That very subtle voice tremble holding back so many emotions
Definitely an amazing and sad scene. I can also relate to Paulie very well at the part about staying in one place you become that place. Rocko this is all i got. I've been at my job for so many years I couldn't imagine being without it.
Rocky Balboa is the greatest movie character of all time.
The music is phenomenal man, so emotional
Only few people understand what rocky is talking about in this scene...sometimes we try to act so calm but inside we’re angry raging sometimes for no reason it’s just their words would never explain! Very deep scene
After watching all Rocky movies and loving the series, how can you not get emotional during this scene??
It's just not possible.
No one cries like Sylvester Stallone
It's very raw and ugly, sounding painful. Like a real cry. No Hollywood BS.
This scene never meant anything to me until last week, my life turned upside down
im sorry :(
Rocky is the best movie character of all time imo 😭💚
this scene made me cry, life takes the ones you love away.
We love you Paulie. You will be missed
Only a true friend could evoke so much emotion, and maintain the situation as well good job Pauli, he felt the tears and helped Rocky let it out!
I been in pain this whole entire month. Once again, Rocky is there for me

This part gets me everytime man.
one of the best scenes from any movie... gets me every time - a lot of men can probably relate
I love how in the first film Rocky calmed down Paulie when he had his meltdown, and now in this film it's Rocky having a meltdown and Paulie calming him down.
Lost my 1 year old son a month ago.. and I can relate to rocky in this clip.. the way he approaches pauly, hurt, lonely.. lost.. I find myself walking around the exact same way... these rocky movies have so much meaning and they're scripted very well... I wish I ca meet a guy like rocky, I'd bring friendship and comfort to him as I need comfort myself... great movie.. ❤
Sorry about your loss. I wish you nothing but peace.
Big confluence of factors that make this scene so emotional. Stalone's unique blue-collar drawl, his visible age, and the chops to be able to break his voice up like that all contribute to the believable depiction of a old timer who doesn't understand what he's supposed to do with himself. This really is a wonderful film.
my friend recited this scene to me last night. great touching, sad emotional and inspiring.
