My grandfather passed away 2 years ago and I remember watching this scene with him when I was a kid and he told me that Mickey looked like his father. Every time I see this scene it brings tears to my eyes and remember the good memories I had with him. Miss him every day. He was the only father I ever had.
My grandfather passed away in 2020. He loved watching the Rocky movies with me. I understand how you feel. The memories keep him alive in my heart and the fact that I know I'll see him again.
100% Stallone took so many quotes from him . Also the one where he tells Tommy about fear .. and how it's like a fire . Most people think these scenes are amazing but only because they think it's original and don't know who Cus D'amato was .
That brought me to tears. My 7 year old son is called Mickey. Whenever I wanna quit life, when things get tough, I'm gonna hear those words because he loves me, and I'm going to do better for him.
I guess the message here is to let Rocky know that no matter how many fights he loses at the end of the day he needs to be a fighting champion who never gives up who always has the last fight in him
That pointing thumb mannerism reminds me so much of my late and beloved grandfather, and it tears me apart always, when I watch this truly masterpiece of acting. Very touching and so transparent.
@ This is the one decent scene in the entire misbegotten film. Even Stallone admitted V was abysmal and he was ‘negligent’ in its making. Its main virtue is sparing the need for any expo at the start of the sixth film. ‘Hate bandwagon’ is a sulker’s retort and therefore worthless.
This movie use to be my least fav growing up but rewatching this movie years later as an adult and former competitive athlete in wrestling and mma ,,, man this movie is my fav of the others
Of so many inspiring films, this scene has to be the best. Mickeys honesty is so powerful and accurate. " nature is smarter then people think" Thank you Burgess.
My dad passed away in 2020, and he was even a minister… But this clip was not only from one of his favorite movies, but he would say this type of thing to me in different ways my whole life! My favorite was “boy, get up. I raised you better than that”. There was something about his certainty in those words that didn’t hurt, but rather empowered me when I didn’t think I could go on. And rewatching this just makes my dad’s voice sound so real… as if he is speaking through Mickey! Love this scene so much!!!
With Wrestlemania in Philly this year where this movie took place, imagine with AI/modern technology that WWE could re-enact this scene with Cody and Dusty
Wow Burgess Meredith is a FANTASTIC actor he’s always good at playing your emotions this scene although yes I wasn’t alive when his career took off or even 1990 when he passed he’s always held a place in my heart for tackling life you gotta be strong and push on giving up never gets you anything or anywhere….. Sad scene probably of the whole franchise to me always makes me cry I’m a grown man and man this reminds me of good times with my Dad and Rocky wish he had more time to spend with myself and the rest of my family….. Always makes me sad in a way knowing it seems like he doesn’t want to 😢
I always loved this scene and maybe I am just being too critical I don't know but when I found out how closely they replicated Cus D'Amato's talk about Mike Tyson the scene never hit as hard. It wasn't until years later I found that out though from an old interview I watched with Tyson and Cus.
I only wish I had a Mickey in my life .When I was younger. My life would have been totally different! 😢..Gus D'Amato told this to Mike Tyson! Just before he passed away 😢 😢
It's really hard for me to always watch this video and not cry, because it reminds me of my dad, he was and will be the only one who supported me in practicing martial arts while the rest of my family only made fun of my humble dream of being . a martial artist, I would have liked to hug him more and talk to him a lot more, he was my best friend, and I miss him a lot, how it hurts me to know that I will not see him again, it hurts a lot, I never thought it would hurt so much to lose a loved one, It is the most immense pain I have felt in my life...hug your parents a lot, it really hurts a lot, I hope you share a lot with them and have a long and healthy life, I would give my life for his, to see him new...
Guess we all know what every rocky gave us,a great speech.not just a speech,a lesson about life.this franchise weren't just about boxing.it was a lesson about life.and this is Sylvester Stallone's gift to everyone.what a privilege to have whittness this greatest actor of our generation.there is something magical about this guy, even when he made a poor movie,it felt great.

My fav scene of any movie ❤
My gramps ..exactly... miss him..and his rough ways

RIP Burgess Meredith (November 16, 1907 - September 9, 1997), aged 89
You will be remembered as a legend.
I have the same birthday as him.
I remember him in a old Twilight show
@@shawnharris8246 He was great in that show
3:00 The power in Burgess Meredith’s voice combined with the music! Absolutely spine chilling!
“And I’ll never leave you” That one hits the hardest for me.
Yea man, same here. For me it was "You was the angel". This scene never fails to get me.
Fighting back tears here on the bus to the beach 😅😮😢❤
Anybody here watching this having tears in there eyes 😭 anybody wants to see raw acting this is it. Stallone's underated
It's by far the best scene of Rocky 5...
Tears every time!
I just have something in my eyes.
No biggie.
Yes 😢
Every time it’s a shame we have to get old ! 😔🙏🏻
this scene should have won an academy award
Awards do not matter. It's a celebrity thing for their egos. Old school actors just did it because it was their passion.
@@JeffPLut it won more, our hearts. !
RIP Cus D’Amato (the word for word inspiration for this scene) and RIP Burgess Meredith
Right on spot 👌🏻

@SJ-ty5rw ......obviously you don't know cus stole it of george jennings....who no doubt heard it off someone else!!!
"But with you kid, boy I got a reason to go on". Hits you hard!
That brought me to tears. My 7 year old son is called Mickey. Whenever I wanna quit life, when things get tough, I'm gonna hear those words because he loves me, and I'm going to do better for him.
For our son bro
"You see yourself doing right and you do right."
Priceless advice that applies to all areas of life.
I swear Burgess Meredith as Mickey could motivate a man to run straight through a brick wall.
Mick would make me believe me I could do it.
I agree wish I could have had somebody like that in real life.
More like Mickey could motivate people to never give up push tho the obstacles to surrender to your fears stand strong
If THIS isn't the BEST motivational video.....WHAT IS!!!!!!!!
I always cry when I see this scene. Burgess was a magnificent actor. The Rocky films are much more about life than boxing. Beautiful scene
I’m 40 years old and this scene still gets me every time. It’s so true especially to my own life.
Rocky is soooooo good and this scene is so heartwarming
Man that was some serious acting! Love the Rocky franchise
Burgess Meredith last appearance as Mickey in the Rocky Franchise.
Really. I didn’t know that
he also acted in this scene while battling Alzheimer's.
@@wasabi5338 he wasn't diagnosed with Alzheimer's until 1995, his last acting role was in the 1995 movie Grumpier Old Men, great movie.
It's the worst rocky movie but the best scene in any rocky movie
They shot an alternate scene of him in the final fight where he's standing on the bridge yelling at Rock, instead of just using flashbacks.
Burgess Meredith was the angel of this series. The gruff, tough-love angel. What a sweet final gift from the legend.
Now we lost Apollo 😭😭😭 RIP
"You were the angel" cuts the deepest.
Always gets my eyes watering.
Brilliant piece of acting
Rocky’s story is aging like a fine wine. Thanks Rocko !
I’m not crying!
Best scene of this movie
Inner strength ( heart/soul ) is where strong physical strength comes from. 🥊🥊
All you have to do is realize that there is a guardian angel in our life and he may be closer to us than we think.
This Scene Saves so Many Lives ❤
We miss you Mick ❤❤❤
Mickey has been a big part of Rocky’s life, he was like a grandfather to rocky
That was a really good moment. I wish all trainers were like this. All in 💯💯💯

Watching this 20+ years ago with no social media on an old crt was a lot more emotional for me
The very best scene in V…
And the ending too he helps rocky beat Tommy gun street fight
The ONLY good scene in V.
@@jonharrison9222"You knocked him down why don't you try knocking me down?" Was pretty good too

Burgess Meredith, maybe the greatest actor of all time. Great scene, genius
Mr . Stallone don ' t retire never
I remember watching this scene and when Mickey says "get up ya bum, because Mickey loves ya" I cried.
Bill Conti's music really tugs on your Heartstrings
Thank you Burgess Meredith for bringing this character to such life on the screen that he feels kinda like he’s in our corner out here.
This will always be one of the hardest emotional scenes in cinema history
Best scene in the movie
One of the top ten best monologues ever written and acted
