Yeah I feel like this is really the movie that shows (even more than Rocky IV) that he had come to understand what Apollo was trying to tell him and show him when he fought Drago. Like because he was experiencing it himself that this was always going to be something he had to settle within.
I like how when Rocky was going down the voice in the head was his own, picking himself up and talking about words that he told his son. He was the wiseman. In the past it had been Mickey's echo that helped Rocky get through these moments. I think it shows that Rocky had become a man by this time just how Mickey was to him. Mickey's purpose was complete. He told rocky "When i leave you, you'll not only know how to fight, you'll be able to take care of yourself outside the ring too"... Whether it would be possible is very hard to judge. Highly unlikely, but not impossible. It would depend on the older one's diet, lifestyle, how well he stayed in shape, what injuries he suffered if any, if he has any chronic conditions, etc. And it would depend on the younger guy too. This was an exhibition against an old guy soooo...how hard did he train? Did he go all out and get into full blown fighting shape or just get in good enough shape to sell it? And Dixon did suffer an injury early in the fight which helped Rocky's case. It would be very unlikely, but not impossible. Now Rocky at this age couldn't have a professional fighting career, but just one fight? Not likely, but not impossible.
to be fair the champion fighter probably didn't take the fight seriously, as in he didn't train or anything prior. but rocky was giving everything he had to win against mason.
@@AlphaJayCharlie yes but come on man! Btw I love the movies (not all of them but you probably know which ones). Also he seems to pay the price in Rocky 5 and then he just magically gets over it in Balboa and Creed :P
@@elwingy well in creed he wasn’t fighting at all. Training and LIGHT sparring sure, but nothing that would hurt his head. And from what I recall, the reason the Stallone explained him fighting again had to do with the advancement of trauma treatment and existing advanced screening procedures that didn’t exist at the time of Rocky 5. Is it movie magic retconning? Sure, but AT LEAST there is a POSSIBLE explanation, even if it is unlikely, it’s still POSSIBLE, which is poetic and follows the theme of the franchise anyway
The rocky films use that clever little moment where for a brief second you see his opponent shook to their core at the heart, will, and determination this man wields. It's those moments that connect with people the most and show us that everyone has a fighting chance in this life to do something incredible, rocky speaks to us all.
3:07 the nostalgia lightning bolt I get when I hear Paulie laughing. It reminds me of all the final fights Rocky has had. And all the training he has done over his career. And how it’s the last one 😢.
“How much you can take and keep moving forward.” Didn’t understand it as much in my younger years. But now after my son dying and losing my family after my ex wife left me, I absolutely understand now. Rocky Balboa is possibly the most inspirational character ever created. Thank you Mr. Stallone for giving Rocky life so he can inspire so many of us.
"What did you say to the kid? It aint about how hard you hit, its about hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving...forward." Thats not only relevant in a boxing ring, but in the ring of life. If you know your worth and potential ,get out there and get it no mater how much you get knocked down!!
Dixon would have been no match for Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang or Ivan Drago. All three of them would have destroyed him. The only legitimate contender that he would have been a match for would have been Tommy Gunn.
I think Adonis Creed would be champion now, if he'd fought Mason Dixon. Mason wasn't a "bad guy" like Clubber (or sort of Drago) but he was proven to not actually be a good champion as he couldn't put down a 60 year old man (Rocky or not).
MrBlaineRT If he didn't know who Rocky Balboa REALLY was beyond sports documentaries, clips and soundbites - that "boxer from the past" - then at that moment he truley did. Loved how while Rocky is pep talking himself, it is Adrian he thinks of. Even after death she was still there to get him up and fight one more round.
it was also dukes last fight as rockys trainor since he also passed along with paulie and spider rico but it is really sad because paulie and duke were his last remaining original cornermen
It’s the same situation, it’s just that people didn’t react positively, even though both ended with the older boxer losing, but it was impressive that they both did well nonetheless. Obviously old Rocky would beat Mike Tyson though
You've missed the point of the fight. It was never a championship fight. It was meant to be an exhibition. But Rockys tough boxing character came out and it became a real fight. No, the result didn't matter in terms of championship points but Dixon got hurt for real. You know..... for a movie

God, I love this movie. This is actually the only Rocky movie I watcged in the cinema (born in 1996). I remember my dad took me to watch it as he raised me with love to the franchise. My dad, raised in Poland under USSR oppression, always saw Rocky, a man chasing his dreams and doing everything he could for his loved ones, a huge inspiration, as he himself was raised without a father or even a father figure in his life. The theater was full of men similar to my dad's age or older. I was one of few younger (I was 10 at the time) people there. When Rocky fought the last round here and the fights ended, the audience (including me and my dad) went crazy as of we were actually watching a broadcast of a real boxing match. When the fight ended and Rocky still stood on his feet, we all cheered. Years later, I had a similar experience with my friends when we were watching Creed.
Rocky is one of the most inspirational movies I have ever seen. The day after I saw the first Rocky movie I recorded the theme song on a tape recorder and wrapped it around my waist and I ran and I have been running every since. That movie got me started and I am grateful. Best boxing movies ever

Nuvendil it ain't possible the human body at 70 is not keeping up with a body in it's prime an peek condition
Absolutely. Beautiful
to be fair the champion fighter probably didn't take the fight seriously, as in he didn't train or anything prior. but rocky was giving everything he had to win against mason.
Rocky Balboa training school: Defense? Just use your skull to defend punches. It works wonders!
To be fair his character does pay the price for it throughout the franchise
Didn't really work out that well for Ben Askren 😆
Hardest part of the body.
The rocky films use that clever little moment where for a brief second you see his opponent shook to their core at the heart, will, and determination this man wields. It's those moments that connect with people the most and show us that everyone has a fighting chance in this life to do something incredible, rocky speaks to us all.
"a puncher always has a chance"
Why everytime I feel like giving up....I go to Rock? I love the man, no homo.
cuz its the eye of the tiger!!
I know what you mean!
loving Rocko, does not have nothing to do with homosexuality.everibody loves him.because is sublime,
Same here buddy
Me to man .. he is so motivational .. make me feel better after getting hard punch be in this world . I never ever giving up
Expectation: Rocky VS Dixon
Reality:Paul VS Tyson
3:07 the nostalgia lightning bolt I get when I hear Paulie laughing. It reminds me of all the final fights Rocky has had. And all the training he has done over his career. And how it’s the last one 😢.
I love the the looks on their faces when Rocky gets back up.
Sorry for your loss man i hope things start flying high now 🙏🕊️
Damn that scene where he’s on his knee and has those flashbacks, gives me chills every time. Great movie, great character.
1:19 and the goosebumps starts

Bro....
Idk if I’m the only one who gets chills when Rocky says to himself “get up” like 🔥
"What did you say to the kid? It aint about how hard you hit, its about hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving...forward." Thats not only relevant in a boxing ring, but in the ring of life. If you know your worth and potential ,get out there and get it no mater how much you get knocked down!!
Best moment imho
@@Christrulesall2 well said
Same here. It's my motivation everytime I fall and fail. " get up"
Dixon would have been no match for Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang or Ivan Drago.
Richard Klosterman adonis is a light heavyweight while Mason is a 225lb heavyweight in the film
Richard Klosterman he was not 60 he was in his 50s
Brandon Vandine he was 59 at best. Rocky born in 1946 and rocky 6 take place 2006
Godzilla370 maybe they filmed all of this in like 2003 or something
1:36 Mason Dixon realizes that he is not fighting a mere mortal.
Lol
MrBlaineRT If he didn't know who Rocky Balboa REALLY was beyond sports documentaries, clips and soundbites - that "boxer from the past" - then at that moment he truley did. Loved how while Rocky is pep talking himself, it is Adrian he thinks of. Even after death she was still there to get him up and fight one more round.
For sure! He might have been nicknamed "The Line," but it got crossed repeatedly. 🤣
"Rocko! This is the last round of your life....The last round!" Perfect movie.
When the Tyson Jake Paul fight was announced I instantly thought of this movie
This was Pauli’s last fight with rocky but he passed😭
What did he pass? 😆
@@thetexasgreek he passed away paulie he was with rocky every fight since the first apollo fight

No Way
@Christopher Marlowe yeah cause it won't be like the movies
I kept waiting for Micky's ghost to tell Tyson to "Go to 'em, run over 'em!"
Who else hoped Tyson vs Paul would have been exciting as this?
It’s the same situation, it’s just that people didn’t react positively, even though both ended with the older boxer losing, but it was impressive that they both did well nonetheless. Obviously old Rocky would beat Mike Tyson though
Mason Dixon: your one crazy old man
Rocky: you'll get there
"it ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward" ... goosebumps at 1:26

Congrats dixon, you won against a old man who was way past his prime. You are such a champion
I know this is old but I just wanted to say this is a movie you know that right?
You've missed the point of the fight.
It was never a championship fight. It was meant to be an exhibition.
But Rockys tough boxing character came out and it became a real fight. No, the result didn't matter in terms of championship points but Dixon got hurt for real.
You know..... for a movie
@@ItalianoVeroAceHigh Didn't Dixon break his hand in this match? Wasn't he handling Rocko with ease beforehand? It's been a while, so I don't remember 100%
@@andreingramakadjscrewrip7372 yeah thats right. That's how Rocky was keeping up. He was only fighting a one-handed boxer, so to speak.
It kinda makes it even and fair in a movie story kind of way.

I guess Rockys tactic of blocking punches with his face paid off 😂😂😂

MIKE TYSON JUST PLAYED THE REAL LIFE ROCKY BALBOA FIGHTING OUT IF RETIREMENT AT 58 YEARS OLD!
NAMASTE 🙏🏽 FROM BROOKLYN.
If you are watching this in 2024, keep strong 💪 and know that you are a Legend! 💯😉, we got you!

Rocky: that the best you got????
Rocky like hey do you need the last punch?
"Last round of your life rocko" idk why that always gets me.
In parallel universe the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight from last night
Rocky is one of the most inspirational movies I have ever seen. The day after I saw the first Rocky movie I recorded the theme song on a tape recorder and wrapped it around my waist and I ran and I have been running every since. That movie got me started and I am grateful. Best boxing movies ever
Dixson won the fight but Rocky won the war
I like that
Rocky squashed he argument that Dixon could beat him at any time during his prime.
Yes
Why are y’all hating on Dixon? They put their hearts in that fight, and your hating Dixon for no reason
Rocky won cte
I don't care what anyone else says, this was the best Rocky movie.
The Jake vs Tyson we all wanted to see, but with the colors reversed.
I can hear Mick saying “The body, the body, the body!”
One of the greatest series ever and a fitting conclusion. RIP Burt we will always miss you and thank you for the memories.
Sylvestar Stallone (well proud of this man) Although not a real boxer he has kept himself in really good shape especially for a 60 year old & I always looked up to him & still do to this day.Fine example of a man !!! & he's still pulling stunts to this day ;-) Also opened up the chapter for the up & coming actors for the years ahead,e.g. Jason Statham,Jet Lee etc etc Although they have already been on the scene but working with Mr Stallone has helped them move up the ladder & Well Done to them..
Stallone did roids for like 3 years
I know...I love how he takes good care of himself.

It’d be cool if Mason Dixon, Clubber, both Dragos, and Tommy Gun were all at Rockys funeral in Creed 3. Bit of closure for all the villains at the end of it all
I don’t think Rocky’s gonna be included in Creed 3
Besides, Tommy Morrison, a real life boxer who played Tommy Gun, sadly passed away many years ago.

I think this fight is a metaphor for the movie itself. On paper, this fight (and the movie) should have been a complete disaster, and should've tarnished Rocky's legacy. But, not it only was it not a disaster, it was actually very good, and proved that Rocky (both the character and the franchise) still had plenty of gas in the tank.
Why does he keep fighting for free tho lol
It wasn’t a disaster

3:07. There's times where I really disliked Pauly, other times where I really respected him. But at that moment - the way he's laughing - him and Rocky were the 'originals' from back in the day - still family, and the triumph in Pauly's laugh that was so sincere.....it was very very touching for me and I watch it often.
When I went to see this in the theater in 2006 I was prepared to dislike it. But this film stands up as one of the very best of the Rocky movies.
Paul Tyson tried to recreate this 😂
it made me and my boys scream "rocky rocky rocky!" like if we were watching it on irl live in a saturday drinking night and was jist awesome! it made us cry af this scene
This is what I thought Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson would look like
I see Rock using the old “let him tire himself out by punching your face”
After the years i think this is easily top 3 rocky movie
I remember watching that again recently. The movie has so many moments of pain, doubt, redemption, examples of persistence, disrespect, and then respect. ❤ Mainly, everyone has stuff in the basement. 😊
When paulie says screams rock it’s the last round of your life and his face after he says it 💯💯 they had a very odd relationship but one thing for sure they loved each other like brothers love this movie
He doesn't wanted to win, or hoped to, he just went the distance one last time and that was all he wanted.
That's why Rocky Balboa is the best since the original. That's all it was about. A nobody going the distance... seeing how much he can get hit and keep moving forward
This is my favorite Rocky movie. Humbled bro so hard in the end. Pure poetry
The respect Rocky gave to Dixon at the end of the fight was amazing.
