Yeah... the atmosphere nowadays is equivalent of a whole community of hardcore players talking about math or somethin' while I lose my interest in the game. GE didn't help my experience at all, making me avoid group bossing completely. But that's just a natural progression of a community as a social construct: it starts as an open place, then via talented people and pioneering it slowly stagnates and turns on the members of the community until the community gets disbanded or a new one is born. I'm so sorry Joshua. I don't think even I, or anybody, has the words that could somehow even remotely make you feel any better. I truly wish I did though. I lost my grandfather on November 11th - I never had a father, but he was the closest thing to one for me. I can understand, a little bit at least, how you feel. I personally am not much of a religious person, but if you are, one thing I heard once was, "If we could see but a glimpse of where the deceased now reside, we would never shed anymore tears for them." Somehow, that helps me. Maybe it will, you too. I'm truly sorry for your loss. I hope 2018 brings you and your family blessings from here on out. Things will get easier in time. I promise. Stay strong, my friend.
i remember when clan wars was first introduced and we had to run past all the revenants to get there in the wild.. good times.. after a solid clan war day we’d go rev hunting
I’ve been playing OSRS a TON for the last few weeks. I’ve watched so many of your videos and I was so saddened to see you’d stopped uploading to this channel. Very happy to have you back!
Remember being a kid in school and there was a snow day and school was canceled for the day? The excitement I would get knowing I could stay home and play runescape all day was such a great feeling.
Me being 16 years old now I feel like I missed out on all these amazing games. I only got to experience Club penguin, minecraft and Mario Kart/Wii games in their prime. I will never experience prime runescape, MW2 etc
is your account named after the old rs client?? I've been trying to remember what client I used for so long now and your username finally made me remember!
when the world is calling you can you hear them screaming out your name... legends never die they become a part of you everytime you bleed for reaching greatness relentless you survive
Everyone in the comments has been playing since 2001... then there's me (34 yo) who started playing 2 days ago thanks to Ice Poseidon. I'm already hooked and I'm wondering why I never heard about the game here in Italy back in the days...
Omfg bro that was totally me hahahaha total anxiety when you were doing something important in runescape and that damn library timer starts to count down on the 59th minute before logging you off 😆
my brother and i could play for hours, for some reason they didn't limit us for months, it wasnt till old people started gripping! Than the schools started using proxies, so you had to use something like hidemyass to get around it! I'm talking 2002 though!
same lol my dad rarely let me use his lap top so i'd go to public library every day to woodcut. finally got 99 wc years later, only to get perm muted for trolling
Zezima will always be the legend in my heart, I started back when I was 10, 17 years ago. I ran into him more times than I can count and he was always the best period. Always gave me something to strive for in the game.
Huge welcome back to youtube ! Most humble and pure hearted content creator in the community. Your videos are the first 07 content I watched and you got me back into the game hugely! Now I am making my own 07 videos. The biggest influence behind it was you. Love
I remember playing in 2002 and seeing Runescape have over 1,000 players on at the same time. I thought it was CRAZY that many people were playing a game at the same time lol
I quit Runescape back when EoC came out, but this is so nostalgic to watch. I was one of those nooby kids who didn't know what they were doing half the time and spammed Zezima whenever he logged on lol.
Thanks :) but I've moved on to WoW and I can't stand looking at the new Runescape graphics. It's not the same game anymore and I don't want to start over on Old School.
same here. quit when EOC came out and never logged in again. rather sad that happened. had a quest cape, 97 smithing and all skills over 85.... such time put in.
The last couple points of this vid made me tear up, no lie. 21 now and played when i was 10-12. Life wound up getting in the way until just recently osrs mobile came out...been back at it for 10 days and already hooked all over again! All f2p stats over 40 already and almost 2 mil in the bank. Just one more thing making me realize just how much I've grown...not sure how pk'ing is gonna work on mobile though. Can't do nearly the same mechanics as PC. Also stoked to earn membership via bonds. But the community is amazing still! Already made a dozen friends and its just great to shoot the shit and help people quest/train/merch/etc. Many of the people I've connected with are just the kind of people described in the last point and that nostalgia brings us closer together and feels authentic. So grateful for osrs mobile!!
I started RuneScape at 6 years old. This game has been a huge part of my life, and I actually get emotional seeing videos of the old game. I was never very "good" at the game, I've never even maxed my account after 14 years playing. Granted, I didn't really start playing until I was around 10-12 years old. I was too young to understand a lot of it when I started. I remember a funny story from my young days: My cousin, when I was 7 years old, took me (in RuneScape) to the volcano in Karamja. I had almost my entire bank on me, which was about 17k worth of stuff and coins lmao. My cousin, who was 14 at the time, failed to mention the dangers awaiting me in the volcano. I died, and lost everything. I remember crying over that XD. Man, to think about the fact that I actually cried over 17k, and now have a party hat..... I've watched this game grow. I grew up with it! The older I got, the more I understood it. The most important part of the game to me: The community. I grew up in a fairly rough life. I was an outcast most of my life growing up. I'm not what most people picture as a "nerd". I'm fairly attractive, grew up playing sports, etc. I was not a "gamer". To this day, I'm not sure why I grew up the way I did, but it's how it was. RuneScape was a "safe haven" for me. I have a pretty great life now. In college, entering the military soon as a Pararescueman... but the longest and closest relationships I have ever had, were on RuneScape. To this day, I still talk to a few people I met on RuneScape when I was 9, 10, 11+ years old. I'm 20 now, and have had friendships of 10+ years that I'm closer with than anyone in my life today. I have even met one in real life! I learned a lot on RuneScape, and it truly affected my life. It's crazy, when you really think about it, how influenced I and many others were and still are by events in RuneScape. I still remember the Flavor massacre like it was yesterday hahahah. How time flies :(
Doktor, we are both the same age and what you typed up really hit me and bought old memories. I was so young at the time to even realise what RuneScape truly was about. I too cried over like 50k at the time and now I almost have 1.5B. Man does time fly... 😔😔
Man....same! The last couple points of this vid made me tear up, no lie. 21 now and played when i was 10-12. omg at the end when he said "no one needs help walking from varrok to falador or dresses up and stands in this stupid spot anymore" that HIT me! Cheers to the FELLOW OGS!
So glad your back. I started watching your videos before I started playing old school. You got me into this game so screw you for ruining my life. Also thank you. Glad your back!
I remember playing this when I was new I got scammed by someone they said to drop coins and he will give me an item, dude just picked it up and walked away 😂
Thank you for this video, I honestly didn't expect number 2 and number 1, and for them to hit really hard like they did. Kind of makes me never want this game to end. Sure, there might be private servers/emulators of it like Star Wars Galaxies has, but it won't be the same in my eyes. Like, I loved playing RS2 as a kid and messing around, and now I want to play OSRS, but the lack of motivation to work back up and also relearn the end-game content keeps me from doing so. And the main fact of me wanting to keep RS2 stuff in the past as memories of how I grew up on the internet. I miss all the things I did 10 years ago, I want to relive them at their fullest, not as some recreation. In the end, Runescape will have a place in my heart forever.
Couldn’t be better said. I wish I could go back in time to relive those childhood days sometimes because I know the game is in my past and will forever stay that way.
Believe me, I felt the same way. What's funny, we all spent so much time screwing around/learning about the game back then that now when you go back you will gain levels really fast. I got up to 111 combat, 200m bank, and 1800 total in a little over a year. I'd give it a try man :]
I thought I would never love Runescape as much as I did years and years ago but I was so completely wrong. I had recently joined OSRS, like a week ago and have been playing seriously since. It's so good! The community is awesomeeee and what I love the most is the old and pixelated graphics as well as old designs of armours and whatnot. It's not just nostalgia. The game itself is amazing.
Before the rework I was trying to skill up to rune... was about like lv 72 or 75 in the skill chart then they really eased more than just my tension... even when that took tome to adjust to my baffled work to be rewarded so nicely.
Agreed. I remember the game being very, very alive even during HD however EOC whilst meant to be a good thing turned people away. I also think most of us grew up and had other priorities. Thank god I have OSRS during coronavirus however, I'm relieving a part of my childhood I thought I'd never get back
@@calum9250 This is the problem of time. He is, in fact, the one thing that meant to be foverer even thought he changes us all without asking, without turning back and without mercy. We are not kids anymore, and eventhought we play runescape craving for feeling the things that we felt in the past, the fact is its never the same. Time beated us all. We got move on. That why I stopped playing, is like trying to speak with our loved ones who are dead, it doesnt make any sense. Runescape will always be part of my life, but a part I can never reach and I can never love anymore.
Totally agree. Tried playing it a couple of times during the last 5 years, just couldn’t get the excitement out of it that I used to back in ‘05 to ‘10
I still cry everytime I watch this video. I have so many good memories on this game and met great friends. I even met Zezima in real life when I was in Amsterdam a few years ago. after he saw my RS tattoo on my arm, we talked for a few hours and even signed my arm right next to the tattoo. After he left I went straight for a tattoo shop to get his autograph permanently on my body. Still the best thing that ever happened to me.
Congrats idiot, you got nothing more than a signature from one of the zezimas. There is no "Zezima" as the account was shared between four people, the account broke ToS about sharing account and all. That account was on 24/7 because four roommates shared an account, I hope your whole tattoo story is a joke, or the only joke is you I guess?
I feel like I’m one of the youngest playing now 😭 This is so true! The players is what makes it Runescape, Runescape! I started when I was 9 and I came back bc of quarantine (I am now 21). But once quarantine ends I can’t play anymore since the game is very time consuming and I have school. Everyone who plays is 20 years old or above. Some with kids, wives and a job. No new players are coming in and this is a huge problem! I just started up 2 weeks ago and the map is SO empty compared to how it was before ... crawling w people everywhere and making friends and talking. Also a lot of the older men are sort of creepy and constantly ask for nudes in exchange for millions of gp 😂😂 ya’ll gotta chill. But I believe you never leave runescape 💗 this shaped my childhood and honestly taught me a lot about the economy and business ahahah. I love how we are grew up together. Let’s not talk about the day we all leave 😭😭 I think something will happen soon to make it blow up again. It’s BORING if the map is so empty they should delete parts of the map that no one uses so we pass by more players and it feels like more of a community!
I still remember fighting and killing Zezima at Castle Wars back in like 2008 or so back when my combat level was in the 90s. I ran into him a few times over the years when I was playing and even got have a brief conversation with him which surprised me because he was usually quiet in game.
This brought back so many memories. I thank you for uploading this video! What makes me feel the worst is that I can't remember what happened on the day when I played Runescape for the last time and for what reason I never logged in back. Making an account on OSRS, will continue like the old days.
8:16 yes, and one of these private servers we played for 2 months upon release of EOC was the one you got that video of all them flax bots from. and that was Project RS06. Thanks again for using my footage btw. I heard of you because some friend was like "woah didn't know you knew Mote Plox" and I was like who tf is that? :P
I actually remember buying a rune sq off of bluerose for like 400k or something like that when they first came out. Cant remember the exact amount for some reason I think they were beign sold for 400k...
I started playing when i was only 12 years old. I did all the free quests, and worked countless hours on my levels. I fell away for many years, and the porting to bile has brought me back. I've started completely fresh, and this game still after 6 years away from it brings back such fond memories. OSRS FOR LIFE!!!!
There's a lot of unsung heroes, like the guys who (I have the luxury of knowing) fed woox tips so that the guy didn't lose out to his competitor when racing for nex.
I met one of my closest friends capturing crimson swifts a few days after the release of hunter back in 06, almost 20 years later we still train together every now and then - shout-out to my boy Leo
number 2 reallly hit me, i can't imagine a world without runescape, i hope if it ever dies jagex will give us a downloadable file of rs3 and osrs and whatever they make in the future so atleast we can play it offline and do whatever with it when the game dies so we still have some fun and remember the times
people would probably make a server for the game to be honest but you never played ironman.. my opinion ironman is a great mode but it kinda just makes want the game to be offline
I once got lured by the dark wizard method... I was like 7 and I thought this was someone just leading me to Varrock. Luckily I got out just in time to save my 10 combat self!
"People make instagram accounts for their runescape accounts. Something unheard of back in the day." - False. We all had a myspace profile for our characters to show off our stats.
only a few people know the truth behing oldschool success and it was no thanks to so wrecked but thanks from a third party software called 2006scape who success on having many players aparently 300k players supporting 2006scape and this caught jagex attention and they closed the website down and sue the owner of that website, so it could be said that jagex saw the huge amount of support from players to 2006scape and decided to release 2006scape, so wrecked take all the credit but in the reality it was thanks to the people behing 2006scape.
This. While sowrecked might have brought it to the attention of most players, Jagex definitely knew about the potential success of an oldschool version thanks to 2006scape. The project was as good as finished and about to be released when Jagex threatened to sue the owner of the project, forcing him to take it down. Knowing the guy made about 50-100 thousand dollars with the project, before it being even released to the public it's not that hard to see why Jagex was interested in doing it themselves.
God I remember being in like grade 6 and starting runescape for the first time, I still have my account from the day I started, tho I dont play it anymore as Im more tuned to osrs and it's an rs3 acc, still, seeing things like this, brings back such nostalgia to me, seeing how runescape used to be, to what it is now, and honestly, I feel honored to have been able to start playing when I did, because if wasnt introduced to this game, I probabbly would have never started playing it. Really good video mote, Keep up the good work mate
I got to see him once by accident! He was in Catherby and the crowds were so bad that I could find his name but not see him. I "folo'd" him hoping to get a glimpse of him at some point. Suddenly he dashed out of the crowd, taking me with him! He spotted me and turned and followed me too so we were "dancing". (I am female by the way) Then the crowd swarmed him again and people were saying, "I think thats his girlfriend Rachel!" LOL I blushed like a schoolgirl and ran away.. hahaha.
Man I remember playing this like 15 years ago... I started playing again for fun. People seem to be a lot nicer and the members give out a lot of stuff to new guys. I remember when people would log on for like an hour before school in the morning just to cut some yews.
Well goddamn, Mote... #'s 1 and 2 made my heartmelt. I still play OSRS today (albeit not as committedly as before) and do nothing too serious. I just walk around, listen to the music, train a bit, and socialize. Nothing fancy at all but thanks for a great video and making us "ordinary" players feel more significant in the bigger picture. Cheers mate
I remember protests at the grand exchange, hanging out at lumbridge castle, edgeville adventures etc..... I’ve been playing since 2004 and I just started up playing again after taking a break. Only lvl 108 but man this game is amazing.
I'm a new player that only started playing because a senior player told me about it. If it weren't for my friend guiding me I probably would have never have given it a shot after getting confused multiple times.
Oi! Chilling in Varrock Center was fun lol! Seriously though that's the part of R.S I miss the most. I only maxed because it died with EoC which made the game more competitive "gain" wise. If I could trade my max cape & 6b+ bank for 1 single thing it would be to see the return of SocialScape. The time when people hungout in Varrock Center & West bank just to chat. That was the last time RuneScape was actually fun for me, now it is more like a daily chore so I feel accomplished on the days I don't have work or the work I had wasn't laborious enough.
I used to play runescape in 2001-2003. Ive been playing osrs for a week or two now... I went to varrock square to trade and chat and what not. i was dissapointed to see its completely empty now. The grand exchange takes a crucial human aspect out of the game.
I remember them days brother...the wall where everyone sold rares....I remember selling a black skimmy for 3mill because it was deemed rare and Santa hats were as low as 200k ffs lol
My friend was friends with him on RS and we all hung out from time to time. He cared for his family so very deeply and held his friends close. Rest In Peace buddy.
Yeah for real. There’s more money in botting than ever. For any game there are always some stupidly rich dudes who’ll pay large sums of money just to get the best items in the game that they never had to work for. And with people figuring out how to scam or grind out billions of gp, rich guys will pay enormous amounts of real money to be traded billions of in game gold. I’m talking about millions of dollars to be on this game
When you had to ask to see the skill cape mote cuz it wasn’t on UA-cam I miss old runescape so damn much I wish it never changed it was perfect even with the scams and lures and everything you just learn from it snd it makes it special in a way
you guys remember when training next to someone made you best friends automatically?
Goddamn i loved that shit :)
YES 😭

Remember being a kid in school and there was a snow day and school was canceled for the day? The excitement I would get knowing I could stay home and play runescape all day was such a great feeling.

Awesome new graphics! Loving the increased video quality!

Get OSBuddy Pro, they have an OpenGL option (which is the graphics you saw in the video)
Was talking about the increased video production graphics. Not the graphics in game.

Alex Da' Great holy shit I felt like I typed this
I started RuneScape at 6 years old.

Tacoman450 runes cape classic is better homie
Couldn’t be better said. I wish I could go back in time to relive those childhood days sometimes because I know the game is in my past and will forever stay that way.
Tacoman450 you should come back now that OSRS is on mobile. It’s incredible.

"Jagex felt smithing should yield more reward"
So for the past 12+ years you had to be level 99 smithing to make level 50 combat armor. LOL
Before the rework I was trying to skill up to rune... was about like lv 72 or 75 in the skill chart then they really eased more than just my tension... even when that took tome to adjust to my baffled work to be rewarded so nicely.
Cause rune smithing went down to like 50 or 60..
And still have to, or sell your soul to RS3
Makes me sad to know how big rs was, then jagex literally shot themselves in the head.
@@hermanoguimaraes6343 well said I agree 100%
RS is definitely a relic of the past for me. The joy it gave back in the day is something it never managed to do afterwards.
Can you share a photo of that please?
cool
I can imagine a random person recognizing an RS tattoo and then intoducing himself as Zezima. Anyway, good for you to have met him. :)
MrSkiller55 don’t let anyone tell you that you’re a fool, they’re just mad they haven’t met zezima, and it’s your body :)

I just started playing Old School Runescape for the first time, but I think I'm in for an eventful journey.
only a few people know the truth behing oldschool success and it was no thanks to so wrecked but thanks from a third party software called 2006scape who success on having many players aparently 300k players supporting 2006scape and this caught jagex attention and they closed the website down and sue the owner of that website, so it could be said that jagex saw the huge amount of support from players to 2006scape and decided to release 2006scape, so wrecked take all the credit but in the reality it was thanks to the people behing 2006scape.
Sook9 wasn't it sowrecked? I thought he had a huge part of it
nope
Sook9 you are absolutely right. I remember logging into 2006scape and shortly afterwards jagex started the poll for os servers

It's the little things in life like this comment that keeps me going
God I remember being in like grade 6 and starting runescape for the first time, I still have my account from the day I started, tho I dont play it anymore as Im more tuned to osrs and it's an rs3 acc, still, seeing things like this, brings back such nostalgia to me, seeing how runescape used to be, to what it is now, and honestly, I feel honored to have been able to start playing when I did, because if wasnt introduced to this game, I probabbly would have never started playing it. I got to see him once by accident! He was in Catherby and the crowds were so bad that I could find his name but not see him. I "folo'd" him hoping to get a glimpse of him at some point. Suddenly he dashed out of the crowd, taking me with him! He spotted me and turned and followed me too so we were "dancing". osrs is one of those games that brings back so much nostalgia but is also a timeless game. Something no mmo will ever be able to do ever,
I think RUNESCAPE should advertise to get more young players.
They advertise mobile
The young players are there, they are just all grown up now
I'm a new player that only started playing because a senior player told me about it. If it weren't for my friend guiding me I probably would have never have given it a shot after getting confused multiple times.
runescape is super tough to advertsie in this ultra competitve market . its sucks, man
Are you kidding we have enough toxic with the adult kids already onlone

You actually think botting is no longer possible? That's cute.
read my mind... botting is worse than ever lmfao
I see them botters everyday, doing my duty by reporting most of them as well
