Dear Brother, We at the very outset appreciate you for your great effort to show us so many things related to machining. Please keep uploading many more such videos illuminating your avid viewers regarding your AI Lab also. Thank you very much for your nice and fàntastic video. With lots of love and regards, Jayantàda, 21/12/2021
Didn't have metal or woodshops in high school. just auto. Great video with clear instructions on proper use of the equipment, glad I am able to watch without having to pay tuition at a college
Pilot drill bits are sized smaller than their corresponding taps. This is so that the pilot hole is large enough that the tap can cut the threads easily, yet small enough to leave enough material for the tap to cut full depth threads. The body drill bits are used to drill a hole that is large enough that a bolt with threads matching the corresponding tap size can pass through the hole without interference.
ahhaah oughawtough, you never put your hands in the path of the blade nor the direction it could break, it can put that broken band right into you hand and though it, I was taught, and he clearly stuck his hand next to the blade.
Seems to be brand Wilton Strands (Swedish brand Strands, most probably Wilton was only importing them to states) and model is most probably 20" power feed. Try this download link for brochure: www.sterlingmachinery.com/media/brochures1/file/Wilton-Strands-Geared-Head-Drill-Presses-Brochure.pdf or search Wilton Strands from Google and you'll most probably find the brochure among the first results.
Heem Lo I'm guessing these were originally made on VHS tape with a 1hr run time. Whoever converted them to digital just bounced the whole tape and never cut the deadspace.

One of the best series in basic metal working. Thank You Mr John C Kiehl wherever You are. And of course Open Source Machine Tools.
Such wonderful instructions filmed with such low resolution.
Another fantastic video.
Another great video. Thanks.
Picked up a few tips. Thanks.
Last time I grabbed the swarf like that I needed a couple of band aids after. Do some metals produce sharper swarf than others?
Wireline Yeah, seeing him grabbing that made me cringe. It's a very good way to end up with hamburger hands, and a few dozen stitches.
What brand is that drill/tap index?
What's the difference between pilot drill bits and body drill bits?

@@ryansaunders683 , worded perfectly no room left for further inquiry , make a good teacher you would : /

What is the make/model of that drill press?

For Dan, stop at 24:58
Seems like not enough T.P.I on that saw blade to attempt cutting steel
you never put your hands in the path of the blade nor the direction it could break
Why is there so much deadspace at the end of every video?
Heem Lo I'm guessing these were originally made on VHS tape with a 1hr run time. Whoever converted them to digital just bounced the whole tape and never cut the deadspace.
He doesn't know the difference between a drill and a drill bit. Strange.
geez this video is poorly done
