I just got done taking mine apart from my 1964 oldsmobile super 88. I have one question before I start installing the rebuild kit. I was wondering if you need to grease any of the parts that go attached to the spring that connects to the lever pump.
I can't get the lever out of the fuel pump. This was a working, but leaky fuel pump so the lever isn't stuck. The video went past without showing the lever removal, so it must be relatively easy, but it just won't budge. Any advice?
Once I removed the pin, diaphragm and cover mine came right out. I had a real hard time getting it back in. I took about 45 minutes to get it back together
Hello I have a problem with my fuel pump for Buick 8 right I have no compression I disassemble the interior there is nothing to break and the seals are in good condition, however the lever is lowered without problem can i have a problem adjusting the lever? a detail I did not disassemble the lever
Out of the three pumps they look the same but the levers were different. I could not exchange the levers in one of them. You should be able to mount it in a vice and make it pump fuel. Make sure your cam is ok that moves the lever up and down.
@@dyna1955 I manage to lower the lever without problem In your video when you lower the lever there is a noise! at my place there is no noise! the cam is the lever?
The cam is inside the engine that allows the lever to go up and down. If you are moving the lever with your hand and it does not pump fuel then there must be something wrong with the check valves or the diaphragm. Did you install a new seal kit?
@@dyna1955 I tried with the tank and a plastic bottle and fuel but you pumped by hand without it being on the engine there was a vacuum with pressure gauge My engine run with fuel with carburetor
Such a mechanism.
I'm about to rebuild the pump on my '56 Olds, and found this video VERY helpful! Good Job! Thank you!
Thank you soooo much for providing this tutorial.
Are the early and the late ones interchangeable on the century 322 engine?
They will work but maybe incorrect for the serial number.

I just added a little White Lubriplate to the shaft and lever. Nothing next to the rubber parts
