    Here's the conclusion to save time:-
    A. Wearing a supporter is not necessary at all, you will still always be healthy.
    B. Wearing supporter doesn't safeguard you from hernia, if your abdominal walls are weak it will happen anyway (just about 1-2% of people may have weak abdominals, it's very rare).

      Nobody knows what's going in their body anyway so it's better to take precautions.. Don't discourage people from doing something good! I'm working out from 4 years and a couple of weeks back after I played squats my testicles size got drastically increased..I had hydrocele eventually! I played squats often before but now it happened right? Nobody knows what's gonna happen

    In short: Improve and build up your core muscles to prevent chances of hernia. It's very necessary and much much important to build your core muscles before you get into heavy training 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏼

    i was operated for hernia Aug last year. i m 27. when I was diagnosed it turned out i had it all the while(hereditary)... but my increased physical activity made it bother me so i got it operated. my day to day life is as usual and it doesn't bother me anymore but when i started gym again after a 6 month break, i felt pain again just after a week. left gym again. #sadlife

    Hi Gaurav, I like your videos and they are informative and fun at the same time. However, I differ from your views on wearing a supporter and I'm saying it with personal experience.
    I'm 48 years old and workout religiously. I used to wear supporter when I started working out very young, probably at the age of 18 and that also because as you mentioned that the elderly bodybuilders suggested it to prevent hernia. However, later in life I stopped wearing them completely and still lifted hard and heavy without any trouble.
    Nevertheless, just 4 months back I was working out in gym and lifted a pair of 25 kg dumbell and sat on the flat bench for chest presses. The moment I sat with dumbells in my hands, one of my testical got stuck at the crotch of my fairly tight jockey underwear and felt a very sharp pain down there. I ignored it and continued with my workouts.
    However, as the day continued the pain still persisted but I thought it'll fade away. The pain continued as the days went by, and the pain started becoming severe, it was so severe that I could not even walk or stand for very long. After consulting a local doctor and taking some pain killers he suggested to get an ultrasound down.
    During the ultrasound, that stupid ultrasound doctor confirmed that it's hernia. I got scared and worried that now I have to go through a surgery and then I did my complete research about types of hernias. I consulted a very senior and elderly surgeon with my ultrasound reports and after thorough physical examinations he doubted that it's hernia, he suggested another ultrasound.
    During the second ultrasound, that same idiot ultrasound doctor confermed that it's cancer now and it's spreading. I got scared to death and went into complete depression after listening the word CANCER. However, my doctor denied it as well but got confused with the different reports. His diagnose was that during the time I sat with dumbells I badly crushed one of the inner vein of testical and that is the reason for all the trouble. He suggested another ultrasound from somewhere reputed, so I went to Max hospital. However, at Max the ultrasound doctor got influenced with earlier reports before conducting ultrasound and he also confermed cancer and discussed the report to my doctor personally but my doctor stuck to the fact that it's not cancer.
    I continued with the heavy dosage of medicines for weeks and weeks and the doctor recemended wearing a supporter the entire day except while seeping. My injured testiy was swollen almost as big as a tennis ball and there was throbbing pain evrytime and wearing a supporter at that time helped me to walk around and do my daily tasks. Nevertheless, the entire ordeal was dipressing, painful and scary. The thought of going to the doctor for checkups and feeling nervous to not to hear any thing negative was shit scary and it was so embarrisng to lie down with your pants down during checkups and few experts fiddling with your balls every week. I couldn't workout anymore, I couldn't even jog or do any light cardio to keep the fitness enthusiast in me alive.
    One day when I woke up in the morning I felt something wet and watery down there and I couldn't bend and check what's down there but I felt lighter in my testiy . I went to my doctor the same day and during examination he saw the the injured testiy has busted with a long slit and all the stored infected pus and water has started coming out. He mentioned that the vein which got crushed produced the pus formation however, the natural mechanism of human body flushed its out by one way or the other.
    It's been 4 months now with my freaky accident and I'm doing daily dressing of the slit down there, although there is no pain and discomfort however, the exterior wound is not healed and probably would have to get it stitched next week.
    Now the reason for me to write such an elaborated comment was that I totally apriciate you for bringing this important topic and also breaking this myth about hernai amongst people and doing your anatomical research.
    However, what I feel is that, I wouldn't have gone through all this nightmare if I had worn a supporter on that day. The supporter would have kept the testies upwardly intact close to my body and I wouldn't have crushed on of them while sitting on bench.
    I totally agree that wearing a supporter or a langot the entire day is not advisable as the pehalwans do but they do it to follow the rituals of "Brahamcharya" and not to get distracted. I had been wearing the supoerter for the entire day and only I know how miserable I felt but I had to wear it because doctor suggested it and that was the only thing which helped me going the entire day.
    As you gave example of cyclists and the kind of tight crotched shorts they wear is absolutely true however, the regular underwear we wear are not such for working out, no matter how expensive or branded they are.
    I have started working out again after a green light from my doctor and have slowly regaining what I lost during these 4 months but I make sure that I wear a supporter now. I also agree with your opinion about certain testicals temperature, sensitivity and sperm counts however, wearing a supporter just for and hour or hour and half at the gym would surely not make anyone impotent.
    All these years I also proudly told people that I never wore a supporter and still never got hernia but my opinion has changed now after what I went through. This kind of freaky accident can happen to anyone anytime if not wearing the correct and appropriate gears while working out. Wearing a supporter is equally important at the gym as wearing a proper belt while squatting or deadlifting or even wearing wrist straps while heavy presses and pulls.
    Nevertheless, as I said your videos are always fun and informative, so keep up the good work. By the way, I'm your channel subscriber as well.

    Supporter helps a lot during squats and deadlifts because the pressure is on your balls. If they are closer to your body it helps.

    According to sir, you mean not wear supporter if u have weak from born time or core is weak so you have a hernia and go to a simple surgical operation. but sir if the supporter is helping to prevent at least 40% from this so why is not wear this, they have no regret in life for not wearing, they have confidence during work out, they have better stability during leg work out, they help to focus and not divert the mind , no loss I find exception for temp change of testis, My opinion to wear this and Your knowledge is more profitable to know more about this thank you for being a part of muscle building industry and a good mentor for youth in India .

    You missed one form of hernia . Inguinal hernia, that can be caused due to heavy lifting. I don't know wheatear a supporter can help in prevention, but wearing something to hold the testicles in place do make you feel secure .

    Bhaiyo...prblm jante ho kya...hai ye jo kah rhe hai vo correct hai BUT hamare INdia me bhot kam log tight underwear pahnte hai...jiski vajah se unke testicles ko support nhi mil pata hai or jab ham weight lift krte hai to testicles par pressure padta hai jiski vjah se aapke testicles me prblm create ho sakti hai.....or jin logo k nhi ho rhi koi prblm to unko mai bata du ki bro har kisi ka body alag hota hai.... system alag hota hai.......to mai ye nhi kahunga ki aap supporter pahno but aap sabko ye jarur recommend krunga ki tight underwear jaroor pahne...agar aap supporter nhi pahen rhe hai to.....or without underwear pahne hue workout kr rhe hai to... GaurAntee aapko testicles me prblm ho jayegi.....

    Supporter prevent the hernia...
    Because supporter keep ur testicles up and helps to close the femoral ring through which hernia generally occur...
    So please advise people to wear supporter...
    Its must for those whose abdominal walls are weak....🙏🙏🙏

    A leading and well acknowledged hernia surgeon in Lucknow recommended use of supporters in gym to me. I beg to differ on this sir.
    Regarding testicle temperature, well supporters i use are tighter on waist not below balls, so there is enough room, they never stick to my body.🙂🙂

    Supporters are necessary to prevent varicocele in scrotum.. which can Happen to.anyone and is related to increased intraabdominal pressure.. the veins around your testis, called pampiniform plexus gets dilated and it's very painful.. wearing a supporter keeps your testis on one position and provides it a support from downwards, thus equalling nthe downward pressure from the abdomen.. also keeping your testis close to your body for an hour or two wont hamper the sperm production . ..
