.... oh wow for very first time in long time ... after watching 1000s of watching golf vids finally someone who explains so simply and so easy to understand ... something i shall gladly go and put this to practise
My golftec coach had me do this on my first visit last week. It’s added so much distance and I’m hitting the ball more straight, and consistently. I couldn’t believe it.
I did Golftec about 10 years ago and they are the main reason I’m a very solid iron player. Most guys are very visual and being able to see green light, yellow light or red light for every position was the quickest way to get me to understand how best to mimic a pros swing, while still making it my own. Ive taken lessons before and after Golftec but for me, this method of teaching worked best.
I went for a fitting at a Golf Tech facility last week for some new irons. The fitter hooked me up with some Ping I 530’s Which I hope to receive this week. He helped me understand how important my shoulder alignment is at setup. I was big time open and everything was going left. Once he straightened me out it felt so awkward. But after a few minutes i was rocking the I530’s. I’ll be going back for the swing evaluation soon. Thank you for sharing this info. If golfers that need help on there swing or fitted for new clubs I give Golf Tech a 10.
I’ve had loads of lessons in person and watched several of the u-tube teachers, Cogorno etc and your explanation of the swing is the calmest and easiest to follow set of instructions ever.......really good job and I just wish I lived anywhere near so I could come in person 👍
Got fitted at the Ft Collins location. The tips the technician gave me helped me out a ton. Went from driving about 240 to 280 and irons gained about 30 yeards of distance after I got a new set of clubs and now im making serious headway. (Going from shooting a 94 2 months ago to shooting an 85 this month.
Hey Nate, this is Brad Thorberg with GOLFTEC! First off thanks for your sharing your experience with GOLFTEC! Great to hear you had an awesome experience and saw such a dramatic improvement.
Great video and explanation of the importance of a proper shoulder & hip turn in the backswing and how it basically lays the tracks for the entire swing. If you do this improperly, there's almost no way to reliably swing it consistently in-to-out on the downswing.
Hey Rod, this is Brad Thorberg with GOLFTEC. First off thanks for the comment!! And yes for the 17+ years I've been teaching rotation is absolutely one of the foundational pieces of having a better path in the down swing and one I've seen 1000's struggle with for sure.

Interesting that your teaching concentrates on the body turn first and only then look at what the club is doing. I agree that it is easier to get the hands and club on a better plane once the body is pivoting well enough. Whereas a lot of teaching focuses on the hand/club takeaway first.

Best piece on swing diagnosis keeping in mind new technology of measurement and very basic changes to the overall swing that any golfer at any level can make...love it just perfect. I feel like I can make those changes easily with a little practice. I have a slight "push" swing with my driver, so obviously coming in slightly open and hitting the ball at the heel of the driver, a couple of changes and this should solve it.

Hey Kevin, thanks for the message. I'd probably have to ask what your description of Stack & Tilt is? Thanks for watching. Keeping your trail knee flexed can reduce your ability to turn. This video helps explain that concept: ua-cam.com/video/5tLZmILjgBQ/v-deo.html
What seems strange about moving your knee toward the ball is that your weight winds up on your left side and not the right side at the top of the backswing. It would seem from that position you would move back to your right side in the forward swing and not your left side as you are already on your left side.
Hey Kevin, Brad Thorberg here with GOLFTEC. First off thanks for the view and the feedback. Yes we packed a great deal of info in a short video and don't expect a viewer to take all of that in and run with it right away. First step would be to find out what you are doing correct and what you're not. Then simplify it down to one focus point.
@@GOLFTECLessonsFittings Thanks for the advice. I’m currently on the better end of a swing change and always looking for input. I’ve found after a few lessons and feeling overwhelmed w info that it is good to take everything in, I’ve also noticed I’m starting to make the moves without thinking to much about. Golf is way more than a sport… Definitely an art form
My research shows that if you straighten the trail leg on the backswing, it makes your upper body lean towards the target (reverse pivot). Metaphorically, if you lean away from the target while setting up to throw a ball, you'll get more velocity. Imagine leaning towards your target while setting up to throw a ball. No bueno.
Don’t know where you did your research, but the research is incorrect. Check out some still shots of Rory Mcrory’s swing on Instagram and he definitely straightens his right leg on the back swing.
The proof is in the pudding, chum. I don't lock my knees. Locking the knees creates a movement barrier and eliminates physical flexibility from that leg. Now you have to put all your flexibility into that hip and that draws attention to that hip instead of avoiding distractions and allowing you to focus on club path and strike which are far more important than swing speed. First you have to actually hit the ball well. The big difference between high and low handicappers is that low handicappers have much more reliable and consistent strikes which allows them to hit the ball consistently well directionally and so they are free to swing for power. A high handicapper tends to mishit more and focusing on club speed is exactly the wrong thing for them to do. Your coaching here tried to teach the wrong lesson at the wrong time to the wrong people. And tour pros don't need it. My experience has taught me, take an extra club or two, lower the club speed requirement and focus on hitting the ball well. The distance will come along as you gain confidence in shot consistency. You learn what works and what does not work...through practice, experimentation and having good shot standards. Not by measurement and by looking at tour pros. That"s why you're not a tour pro. I will never be a tour pro...neither will you. Stop trying to play like one...stop trying to hit like one. Trying to get tour-pro distance is the heart of the problem. First thing you want is decent amateur accuracy and consistency. Keep your shots on line with the fairway and green, first and foremost. Hitting drivers and woods into the woods is not helping, same with your irons missing the green. If you're going to miss, at least keep the ball in the fairway and in front of the green. Much easier to do that hitting a club or two long than trying to hit a shorter iron exactly the distance you think that you can hit it while still hitting it the desired direction and ball-flight. Basically always play a club long and rein it in. Smooths everything out. Gives you a better perspective on the full swing.
Hey desano1975, this is Brad Thorberg with GOLFTEC. True, bad players might not of been the best word choices hear. Maybe the phrase, "players looking for more consistency, would of fit. We do know that if a player doesn't get the knee action and hip turn and shoulder turn going properly in the backswing it can create for some bad misses between the good shots. At the end of the day our goal is to help people play better golf, and to do that we want the bad shots to not be as bad.
Thanks C Ross! I'd recommend stopping by a GOLFTEC. I've given around 20k lessons and it is VERY Rare for a student to not be able to make these movements. Usually a fault is preventing the range of motion and we just need to figure it out and clean it up.
Backswing? Who cares about backswing? Is club square at impact? Is there good club head speed? Watch Bruce Lietzke. They would have fixed his back swing. Let's stop making golf robots. Ruined the Asian LPGA tour.

Thanks for watching. Keeping your trail knee flexed can reduce your ability to turn. This video helps explain that concept: ua-cam.com/video/5tLZmILjgBQ/v-deo.html
So that's why I duff some of my shots !
What seems strange about moving your knee toward the ball is that your weight winds up on your left side and not the right side at the top of the backswing. It would seem from that position you would move back to your right side in the forward swing and not your left side as you are already on your left side.
Ben Jonson You want your weight to be centred to more on your lead foot. Not on your trail foot. Keep your weight going left.
Really liked the knee flex ideas.
Information overload for a 10 handicapper. BUT it all sounds very important
So true Kevin. Even with great mechanics there is so much more to it. From touch to our thoughts.

Hey everyone

My research shows that if you straighten the trail leg on the backswing, it makes your upper body lean towards the target (reverse pivot). Metaphorically, if you lean away from the target while setting up to throw a ball, you'll get more velocity. Imagine leaning towards your target while setting up to throw a ball. No bueno.
Don’t know where you did your research, but the research is incorrect. Check out some still shots of Rory Mcrory’s swing on Instagram and he definitely straightens his right leg on the back swing.
Most people as described here mostly move their arms and think they’ve turned their shoulders.
Rory, Brooks, both of their right foots stay straight..not open like you said.
Dunno. Trevino hardly moved his hips at all.
I could use a little magic in my life.
Maybe they’re not bad players maybe they don’t have the same skill set a pro or a PGA teaching professional has but they’re not bad players
@@GOLFTECLessonsFittings beautiful !
Well some famous pros say to keep your trail leg flexed?
✔
So basically I need to learn Yoga.
Hey C Ross, this is Brad Thorberg with GOLFTEC. Why do you feel you need to learn Yoga? Maybe I can help.
@@GOLFTECLessonsFittings Due to my lack of flexibility 😕 Regardless, this is a very good video and sound advice.

I liked the way you explained the cause and effect and showed just the two numbers, ie shoulder/hip turn. The statement at the end, once the shaft is parallel on the backswing your shoulders should already be turned 2/3 ie 60 degrees is eye opening. Also checking at address that you are not already open is another factor I need to be aware of. Thank you.
