The headline band for this concert was ACDC. They came on later in the evening. This was a free concert and the local authorities had only estimated about 300,000 would turn up. In the end there were 1.3-1.6 million! Sadly, 700 were crushed and had to be taken to hospital with, even more sadly, 52 dying. They had never experienced this type of concert and just hadn't prepared for it.
Thanks John for the info, I knew how many people were expected/estimated but the rest I didn't know. Tragic re:the deaths 😢 but at least they were all having the time of their lives until that point. Back then as u know there were far worse ways to go. Still very sad. Also shocking 😲that Ac/dc were the headline act?
