    I bought the 5-year sterling ink for 2025 after finishing up my hobonichi. I bought it for the review pages and extra pages in back. I spent a lovely weekend with my pens and dated the entire book. It's ready to go and it's only August.

    I'm on year 3 of mine and I love it, my biggest tip is to incorporate it into your daily routine. I write about my day on the left side and weather on the right as well as sometimes I'll add in photos on the right side.

    I am on year two of a DIY 5year in a B6 Cafe Notes, I have a little back dating to do but have enjoyed it. I am now waiting for my Hobo 5yr which will be a family/marriage journal starting with my January wedding. I am considering using the blank side as more years and making it a 10yr, but I may end up having enough to say I don't have the space. I love having my regular journal to say whatever I want to and one that holds a snapshot of every day/year.

      Wonderful! I love the idea of adding in another 5 years on the blank pages!!

    I moved to Brazil at the end of December, so I need to learn how to speak Portuguese. I am using my new 5-year hobonichi for language learning, even at this point where I'm starting out and need to use google translate to help me write entries. I think by next year, I'll be able to write entries without the help of translation or I'll change it up and practice in a different language like Japanese. That's my goal.

    I started mine this year and have been using the right side for photos of whatever I talk about on the left side. But I really love the idea of doing a journal prompt whenever I don't have a photo to drop in. Thanks for the idea!

    I have started an A6 5 Year Hobonichi this year as well. I got the book late February. I’m only putting positive thoughts in so that I do not have to come across anything upsetting or negative every year when I reread the page. I’m hoping to use a different colour for each year. Good luck with yours!

    Going into Hobonichi season, I just bought an a6 and a5 24-28. I plan to use them for short form memory keeping of things like exercise, mood, tarot pulls, journal prompts, etc. Instead of using a dedicated journal to document those things, I think the 5 year will work better. I don’t tend to write a lot. I just want somewhere to document the info and use my other bound book for brain dumps and long form journaling.

    I'll be starting my first 5 year journal in January 2025, so much more convenient and interesting than referring back to archived yearly journals. Between the comments and your wonderful ideas I've changed my mind and will purchase the A5. What's another big journal on my desk, right? 😁

    Thank you so much for reviewing the five year planner. I have always been curious about this exact planner but I didn’t know much about it. Now I really want one! I love the idea of using all the different pen colors and the writing prompts. Thank you!❤

    I started my first 5 year diary this year as well, I had a set idea for my 5 year and I am following it but it has changed a bit, so the way I'm using it is to document my next school years, I have 2 years left in my BA, then 2 years in my masters and hopefully the last year will be post grad/possibly first year in my dream job, as for the blank side I was really struggling with ideas for now I'm using it as a prayer a day ... because school assignments or thoughts on school are not constant I sometimes sprinkle in work events or daily life tidbits, I'm trying to go with the flow but keep my original thought intact as well.

    I’m on year four, and I added pictures and memory ephemera to the other side of the pages, so it’s CHUNKY. I put mine in an A5 chic sparrow cover TN cover and it fits even with all the growth.

    This is my second year in my 3 years diary and I absolutely love it
    I usually write weather, highlights of the day, sth that made me smile, about books or shows I’m watching, I’m not an artist by any means but I try doodling things about my day too

    thanks for the prompts! what an incredible idea! I'm going to do this on my 5-year for 2025! I've decided i'm going to use my Sterling Ink for work and my Hobonichi 5year for home. I wasn't going to get a hobonichi next time because I didn't know what to do with the right side page but this nails it for me. Thank you!

    Love this! I’m on year 2 of mine, and it’s so much fun to compare back to my entries last year. I love the idea of using the same prompt over five years to compare the different answers. Right now, I’m mostly documenting my days, but I’m open to changing things up if I notice that I’m starting to struggle with consistency!

    You could use the 5-year diary to log the books you have read and chapters read daily, perhaps even write a review of each chapter read. A movie tracker works on the same principles as a book journal, exercise journal, and diet planner. A study journal, log your uni classes and tutorials and workshops, assignments etc, what you have ,learned etc, and where you hope your qualification will take you, i.e. goals and milestones, etc. I have just ordered one and I intend to use it for all of the above and maybe tracking the weather, recording famous quotes, logging your achievements, language diary, news-local and international, project journal, memory keeper, press flowers etc I hope that helps. I can't wait to get mine, thanks for your video, it was great. From Perth WA.

    I went with the Hobonichi 5-year over the Sterling ink for that same reason. I am doing the weather also. The history entry is a great idea. I have chosen to use the same pen and ink for the month and then chose a different one for the next month, etc. The journal prompts are fantastic. Answering the same prompt each year. I love that. I am not using stickers either. The back pages I was also planning on doing a review of the year. I haven't even considered using the back pages. The travel log is a good idea though.

    I have the undated five year from Leuchtturm1917 and use mine for memories but also as a media log. Tracking movies I’ve watch. Not much of a reader but I’m trying so I’ll be added what I do read.

    The diary looks to be a nice item, no doubt about that. My problem with things like this is that you end up with hundreds of pages of handwritten text which is totally impossible to search. The value of these things, to me, is being able to find when things happened in the past and I always feel that these things are a bit of a "black hole" for potentially valuable information. Be interested in your thoughts!

    • @mydandeliondiaries
      @mydandeliondiaries  4 місяці тому

      That is an interesting perspective! A lot of books have a place to "index" where items can be quick noted to about one line. This diary doesn't have a lot of space for indexing, but you could easily add a couple of sheets to the front or back of the book to reference. If searching for specific events I feel that indexing would be your best way to find them in the several pages of writing. But, if you just wanted to search by day, or what you did on the same day each year I feel like this journal is laid out wonderfully for that. Easy to see 5 years at once.
      I do think if you wanted to have a good searchable record, having an electronic journal, or "computer" diary would likely be the fastest way. However, I love the handwritten journals because its something I enjoy :)

      @PedalBikerUK 4 місяці тому

      @@mydandeliondiaries I know what you mean and of course the most important factor is enjoying what you do and folks should definitely do what works for them. For me if I want to see when it was that I visited for example The Louvre I want to be able to search for "Louvre" and have the answer, if I have to plough through hundreds of pages to find it I'd just lose heart! Also, with a digital journal such as DayOne what you did on the same day of the year in the past is automatically surfaced. All that said a handwritten diary is more likely to be of interest to future generations but that in itself can be restrictive in terms of what you may or may not want to record 🤣
