You now see why this is a legendary song that is seen as the best rock song of all time. Has been the most requested song on FM radio for 5 decades. While the album was released in 71, Led Zeppelin IV, the group did not do singles. I was a teen in the mid 70s and this was the song of my high school years. It was everywhere. All the parties played two albums. Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. Led Zeppelin IV with multiple plays of Stairway. It was a song to be blown away by. I owned all the albums by Led Zeppelin up to that time. this song and Kashmir were songs I had to listen to. I played Kashmir as much as Stairway because that was a song, headphones on, volume up loud, lights off, sitting on the bed, and Kashmir I would close my eyes and be taken to exotic lands and floating from one to another and I was not on anything. Stairway had this same effect. BTW, every night before bed I had to listen to at least one side of whatever Led Zeppelin album I pulled out. usually and album or two but, at least one side before going to sleep.
Things are best appreciated when they are put into some kind of context. The video and sound quality is exceptional for the time, because these 3 nights in late July 1973, they were filming for their concert movie "The Song Remains the Same". Page is most often included in the top 5 (or even as high as 1-2, usually only behind Hendrix), but it's not just about his playing, but his touch, his feel, his improv. Jimmy wrote almost all of the catalogue, then produced it as well. His rift making alone gives him legendary status, then you toss in a thousand live shows and 300-350 million in record sales. He is literally conducting the sets out there, they all (Bonham especially) follow his lead wherever he decides to go, and they are expected to follow, which gives you the "chaotic order" or "controlled chaos" feeling when they play live, always seeming like they are on the verge of losing it but somehow holding it together. Also worth noting on the lives, there is nowhere to hide from the 4-10 studio tracks of rhythm and lead guitar bits he adds. He is the lone guitar with only JPJ the miracle worker backing him up (in this case the mellotron, playing base with foot pedals) with an array of creative and obscure instruments and devices to fill the holes in the sound. Their musicianship (including their remarkable vocalist and showman up front) is top tier and not to be underestimated! Try "Since I've been Loving You" next.
What a time to be young! The great music just kept coming. Looking back, I’m so grateful to have experienced it all. Wouldn’t mind turning back the clock, though 😜
This is an incredible live performance of an incredible song, one of the best known Led Zeppelin songs. You only have to say 'Stairway to Heaven' and you know instantly it's Led Zeppelin! So what can you say, LZ is one of the best bands of all time, started way back in 1968 and we're still listening to them today and we always will! Thanks for your reaction Anthony. ❤😊
I got chills and tears came to my eyes as I remember Led Zeppelin performing this song, "Stairway To Heaven," at L.A. Colesseum in 1974...I was 18 and this concert was my Birthday gift. My friends took me to this concert. $5.99 was the cost of the ticket and we were in the 30th row, cram in. We were drinking Spanada Red Wine, JD Whiskey and smoking Doobies in fact the whole audience was smoking weed at the time.....and when Robert Plant ended the song on his knees looking up to the sky, the crowd, we went CRAZY!!! Had tears in my eyes!!! We knew what the song meant. And they knew we knew what the song meant. No one would understand it like our generation. Great seeing a young Lad as yourself moved by emotion to give a standing ovation and a round of applause to a 71 year old piece of history that is by your standards labeled "Ancient." But here we are "The Ancients." lol Good reaction!
Thank you for your reaction, so many of their live performances are so damn amazing, because they can let the songs breathe more. Live they didn’t have time restraints with songs, their concerts would last 3 to 4 hours nonstop. They performed with so much passion, Jimmy makes love to his guitar.
This is from the movie The Song Remains the same. Jimmy produced it. I recently bought it so I can enjoy it whenever I want. We used to go to a run down movie theatre back in the early 80's to watch this every Friday night for about 2 years straight 😅 This is the best rock song of all time IMO. Check out Dazed and Confused from this show. Great reaction and Peace out 🙏 ☮️ ✌️
@@jeanluke39. Hmmmm yet it was once again voted number one, out of 400 rock songs, over the 4th of July weekend 2024. It’s only dropped to number 2 a couple times, that alone says a lot. It still blows away reactors who never heard it before, it’s a masterpiece, & one of several Led Zeppelin wrote & performed.

Try "Since I've been Loving You" next.
All of their Madison Square Garden performances are fantastic!
What comes to mind are "Since I've Been Loving You," Immigrant Song," and "Kashmir"

That is very cool. How did the class like it?
@Jules-um4yy actually as I recall the teacher really liked it
@@melvisroberts3715 Haa I bet she did☺
To think this unbelievable song is over 50 years old, and absolutely no band has ever come close to level they set . Simply the best.
