You need to hear this live. The Madison Square Gardens concert is the version I think is best. This song is such an iconic part of rock. Led Z are truly top their.
This is the song they are most known for, it has been rated number one for over 50 years. Over the July 4th 2024 weekend, on Classic Rock it was once again voted number one out of 400. They have several other masterpiece, & every song they did was great. Robert Plant lead singer & harmonica * Jimmy Page lead guitarist band founder producer & mixer also worked closely with the engineers * John Paul Jones (JPJ) bass guitar keyboards mandolin etc. * John Bonham greatest drummer ever. They were together from August 19,1968 until September 25,1980 when sadly their friend & drummer passed away. Other great masterpieces by them are Kashmir & Achilles Last Stand, there’s others but that could get you started. They performed Rock Blues Folk Funk Reggae Mystical etc. The second top selling band after The Beatles. Anything you would pick to listen to is well worth the listen. I don’t subscribe until of heard at least 3 Led Zeppelin songs reacted to, all 4 are absolute geniuses. This song is how you interpret it, but basically saying you can always get on the right path, it’s never too late.
@ it’s even more interesting. Jimmy Page & John Paul Jones knew each other, as in demand sessions musicians. Robert Plant & John Bonham knew each other as teens, & playing in two small bands together, but the 2 pair didn’t know each other. Page was the last remaining member of The Yardbirds, & had a contract to perform 6 concerts in Scandinavia. Page had about 2 weeks to find other band members, his first choice as singer wasn’t able, & suggested Plant. Page went to hear him perform, & loved what he heard, Plant suggested Bonham & Page loved what he heard. John’s called Page saying he was interested in joining, their first rehearsal was on August 19,1968, the day before Plant’s 20th birthday. In September they did those 6 concerts, came back to London & recorded their first album in October. It took 4 days & about 30 hours to record & Page to mix etc. Page & their manager funded the cost. Their manager took the tapes to New York, & Atlantic Records wanted to sign them, without even hearing them live. They got complete control over their music, the largest signing bonus for a new band $150,000 (today 1.5 million). They signed the contract on like November 20,1968, & their debut album was released in the US on January 12,1969. They started touring in the US on December 26,1968. Their second album was released in October of (1969). They sold out stadiums, & broke the record for a single act selling 76,800 tickets, their concerts were 3 to 4 hours nonstop long. Their live performances are amazing & there’s videos & full concerts on UA-cam of 4 of them. Royal Albert Hall (1970) Madison Square Gardens (1973) Earls Court (1975) & Knebworth (1979). Enjoy.
@@sicotshit7068 Good stuff! Don't worry....this is gonna be a part of my next rabbit hole...I am getting back to Led Zeppelin. Feel free to request others too. Especially from the British rock band era. HennReactive is more than just a reaction channel. We want to expose more music (and other stuff) to its subscribers and grow knowledge and the love of music in general! Thanks for your inputs!
I'm not sure if I heard you correctly, but I thought you said the lyrics were "tryptic", a combination of trippy and cryptic, which is a perfect description. The lyrics are intentionally ambiguous, and I think the definitive lines are "It makes me wonder". After 3 or 4 listens I would be shocked if you still rated this song as only a 7.3. Out of curiosity what song would you consider a 9?

That's actually JPJ playing a recorder 🪈, not a flute.
The great Jimmy Page on guitar...late John Bonam on drums...JPJ on base....Robert Plant vocals...The best ever!
